Hands On reacted to spooky.mia in A Student New to LST
Hi!
I am a student in college studying anthropology right now, and I am in the middle of putting together an online ethnography, which is basically a project based on analyzing interactions within certain groups of people online. Me and my group have chosen to analyze interactions between tattoo artists specifically online. Our goal is to find new information about what kinds of topics tattoo artists are interested in and if there are any other subgroups of tattoo artists such as feminist artists and artists that specialize in certain styles of tattooing. As well as any other cool things we find out!
Would anyone be able to help steer me into the right direction for what I'm looking for? For example, refer me to other sites I can look at or specific people I could talk to that are interested in my project.
On a side note I am excited for my new tattoo I'm getting this Saturday it will be cocoa and vanilla plants combined in a bouquet on my shoulder!! I will post a picture of it here.
I'm looking forward to meeting new people and getting help, thanks! If anyone is interested in contacting me directly my email address is [email protected]

Got this guy from Scott Harrison last Sunday. Aside from the dope tattoo, I also got some great stories. If you're anywhere near the PNW, you should make your way to Portland and get work from this legend before he re-retires!

I love all of my tattoos. But I think the one by Richard Stell is extra special since he is no longer with us.

HE'S GOT THE BUUUUUUUGGGG!!! 😁
@minisoda not sure if you've let us know who the artist is yet, but feel free to share! check out their prior work and see what they're into. if they usually do traditional colors, they might prefer to stick to that aesthetic. if they do some crazy shit, they might be open to new ideas.
i think adding an olive branch in an open talon would look a bit strange. during your next shading and color session, bounce your addition and background ideas off your artist and see what they think. in the end, you're wearing it and they're doing it, so your two opinions count way more than us shmucks.🤓

Looks great.
Unlikely that people are going to see chicken feet when they see under your sleeve. Besides, the likelihood that this will be your only ink on that arm is pretty small in the long run . . . 😁

agree with you both! it's tough to pick a favorite, but I enjoyed the thread even sparking the thought. made me think of my tattoos and some of the experiences that came with them. the brain's a funny thing, eh?! you see a tattoo or hear a trigger like this and it immediately opens those memory banks and you get a rush of good vibes!
that all said, i have some small ones that mean a lot. i got a mini portrait of my dog who passed in 2016 on my inner wrist that i see all the time and it makes me smile. it's at least in my top 5!

My favorite is a rose & hoju morph from Grez. Indeed i have amazing memories but, yeah, it's my favorite.

Hands On got a reaction from SStu in The ED HARDY Thread
LSTers! I just came across this great documentary called "Tattoo Uprising" on Amazon Prime Video that has some cool, old Ed Hardy footage. There's a lot of other good stuff as well. Definitely worth checking out!

I got to thinking today. Of my tattoos, which one do I love the most? Not that I have that many, but I just can't pick a favorite.

5 + years later update. What an absolutely wild ride tattooing is.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Just got home from the appointment. Artist was awesome and it was unanimous that the roses didn't make sense. We just did the eagle and will figure out background at the next session (if any). It's a strong traditional eagle and might just stand alone
I will post some pics as soon as I get this bandage off in a couple hours!

Yes, but that will change. Plan is to return her to very close to stock and ride her. Discovered last night that a PO had put .25 mm oversize pistons in without rebore or even honing. Keeps me busy. Friend I sold Johnny 5 to says that I didn't know it, but I was building it for him all along. -

Sold Johnny 5 yesterday to a good friend and started on a '76 RD400 that I picked up a couple weeks ago.

Hands On got a reaction from Dan in Do sleeve tattoos need to be planned out?
ok.. well it looks like you have no business asking us anything and should put your complete faith in Michael! 😅 from the look of his portfolio, you should have nothing to worry about.
my updated advice - go get tattooed as soon as possible (3/4, full sleeve, palm sized, full body, whatever!) then come back and some post some pics! 😁
