  1. Did Aaron Horkey draw the label? Looks like his style, pretty amazing either way. Sierra Nevada is a truly great brewery, haven't had that one though.

I am from the Chico area and the worst thing about Sierra Neveada is that they do not bottle and sell my favorite brews. It forces me to drive to the brewery and fill up growlers.

  2. ahh sleeves arleady, now i will be the only non visible tattoed bro.

do we ever get to see your back? or other tattoos

I am trying to wait until my back is finished to post it. Plus I only have crappy iphone pics of it right now. That being said, I may breakdown and post it after all the color is done on Kumonryu. We did Kumonryu first because she was supposed to go on maternity leave and we were going to wait on the background so she and Horitomo could discuss how to best to do the background where it connects. As for my other completed tattoos they are nothing to see. They are average at best and were done about 12-13 years ago [one is getting covered into my backpiece (after laser) and another will be incorporated into the backpiece because we cannot cover it and it was not lasered].

  3. Thank you Reyeslv. Yes, I'm really excited to get some work done by Yokohama Horiken at State of Grace. Its my left chest and half sleeve. Dahlias, maple leaves, and a butterfly.

Welcome...Maybe I will see you at State of Grace. I am usually there every other Saturday.

  4. I currently have an Irish Wolfhound and a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. I can recommend both breeds as great family dogs. (although not the best to pick up after...if you know what i mean) I also grew up with various hunting dogs (labs and german pointers/wirehairs used for pheasant, duck, geese, and dove hunting) which were higher energy, but also good family dogs.

  5. I can't decide argh!

Also, those cats with tattoos paintings are freaking awesome. If you don't mind me asking, how much are they, @cvportagee?

Also, is horitomo tebori only? That might be perfect for a smaller piece. I've always wanted something hand poked.

You can purchase the prints for only $20. If you want an original it is quite a bit more. I know if you get the prints from State of Grace he will sign them for you. Horitomo does both tebori and machine.

  6. So many tough decisions. As far as content goes...

Whether it be an ill omen or not, we are both pragmatic and realize that matching tattoos might turn to regret. So nothing of that sort. I am really pushing her to get a maneki-neko. She loves cats. Either that or a wicked awesome spider chrysanthemum (thank you spell check for that one) floral design.

I'm good with anything from Japanese lore. Ever since I saw @robz Hyottoko, I had an interest in one of those bad boys or a Daruma doll... just something simple. It depends on which place I pick.

That being said, I could also do a 180 and go for a Lehi tiger head. Too many choices!

If she loves cats I suggest she go to Horitomo at State of Grace and get one of his tattooed cat paintings. They are freaking awesome. I have two in my office at home.

  7. I did laser through a dermatologist/doctor office. I could not find any of the affordable laser specialist in my area. That being said it was very expensive, but the results were great. I had five sessions and the super black tribal was almost completeley gone. I also never blistered and have no other issues with the skin that was lasered. I am currentl in the process of covering it up and my artist has made many comments on how great the laser turned out. Not sure that helps.

In the end I think it all depends. Do your reserach as if you were going to get tattooed and you will more than likley find a good place to laser.Just be prepared for the pain. I would recommend lidocaine or some other topical numbing oinment. It sure helped me out.

  8. So you're the reason why my backpiece won't be finished before she leaves! Snatched up all of Jill's openings, did you! Ha ha, lucky! And Horitomo too! Lucky x2. And the convention! Dang! Someones been planning in advance! That's awesome.

Yeah, sorry about that. I grabbed as many appointments as possible before her leave. How many more sessions do you have on your back? I saw some updated pictures and it looks awesome.
