Tattoo studios are all shut in the UK also right now - I'm looking out on IG for art/prints/Tshirts to buy - there's a couple that are going to be doing that - I'm also hoping the Govt over here sorts out some money for self employed people while they are mandating the shut down.

I follow quite a few local shops on social media along with others that I'd some day like to travel to and in the last week I'm seeing a reoccurring theme.  The lock down of tattoo shops in many states is quickly causing financial problems for the shop owners and tattooers.  Many are selling merch and paintings or prints and offering to do commissioned artwork.  The shop that I've gone to the most is selling gift cards to carry them thru this lean times.
I realize many collectors are also laid off or facing reduced hours, but if you are in a position to help consider throwing a little something their way.  It'd be a shame to lose a bunch of good shops and artists that we'll be wanting and needing when this whole nightmare is over.

Here's a small one I got yesterday. It's a snail warrior, a symbol of the band Heilung. They play music derived from pre-viking northern tribes. Very ancestral.

so me and my wife met with Oliver at the Feather Falls Tattoo expo and I got the horseshoe on my left knee ditch and she got the turtle on her left leg to go with a mermaid and octopus that he did a couple years ago.

    As do we all.

Impatience is a recipe for disaster. I’ve seen more schitty tattoos and coverups than I can count because someone couldn’t wait to get it done right. They usually go from bad to worse to disastrous and then expect someone to make it look like new.

Yeah, I'd say they did a great job with that cover.
And the white ink will fade over time. All of my white now looks skin tone - but everyone holds it a bit different.

What part monkeying with it will make it worse is confusing you? Educate yourself on laser removal. There is no guarantee, or expectation, that the entire tattoo will fade at the exact same rate.

You will find someone that will claim they can do what you want, even though they can’t, and then you’ll be back here asking how to fix the mess you caused.

Quit obsessing over this and just enjoy your nice tattoo.

Nope. They all fade. It will never stay that brand new black they are when fresh.

New here guys. I was wondering about my tattoo. I thought it was supposed to face away from me, but the artist said it made sense to have it facing this way. I figured he knew more than me since he was an artist. Now I’ve had some people say it should be facing the other way and I’m worried it could get in the way of a traditional sleeve. I don’t think it really could be covered up.

IMO large tattoos, like full back or full leg or arm sleeve are a sign of the times, large tattoos are a part of the new tattoo world we live in,
social media has also changed the tattoo world,
when I started getting tattooed in the early 80's, it was all small pieces,
back when I started you walked into a shop on a Friday night, picked a flash off the wall, and waited for your turn,
I have one large tattoo, but all the rest I have are small to medium size,
    to each his own,
but personally I like the traditional look of many small tattoos,

I reckon it goes a bit like this....
Being tattooed has become more socially acceptable (at least in the UK).  This has removed one barrier to being tattooed (at least in the view of some who care about that sort of thing).
Tattooing is more accessible.  There are more tattoo studios - and it's easier to get an understanding of the process and book an appointment.  This has removed another barrier (at least in some who wouldn't have made the effort).
Tattooing is now seen as desirable in some social milieu.  This has encouraged some who are influenced by that kind of thing to have a tattoo - when maybe that shouldn't be a primary reason.
The "being tattooed progression" also appears to have changed with the above.  Shoulder to upper arm to (maybe) lower arm to hands (unusual) to face (very unusual) has migrated to lower arm, hands etc as potentially a first tattoo.
But then again  - "I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't "it"".....  😕
