Had a whirlwind trip to Demnmark this weekend for my second session with Henning Jørgensen. I am extremely happy with how it's turning out.

Got this from Hector Fong yesterday at Tattoo 13. Always wanted something from him, and walk-in Saturday showed up, when I had some extra cash. I took this photo at BART. Looked like a weirdo, but sunlight makes for easier tattoo photo's, I've found.
Rad tattoos, everyone. Keep up the good work.

Welcome! My recommendation is to find an artist who you want to do the tattoo, preferably somebody with a lot of experience doing cover ups, and ask him or her what's possible. I've seen really varying results with cover ups, so individual expertise is really crucial here. If you let us know where you live I'm sure that somebody can recommend quality shops and artists in your area.

I'm a shitty forum user. I find I only lurk the backpiece thread(s) with any kind of regularity. I should work on that.
Anyways, latest sit after 2 months off for traveling and enjoying summer adventures.
Started colour! Super pumped about that. Also, any sit above the waist is a good one. Have an appointment every month from now until December. Hoping to have it done then which would mean it took a year for everything shoulders to knees. Fingers crossed.
Sorta off topic, but a guy was at the shop near the end of my sit. Heavily covered (only a patch bare on torso) and kinda shooting the shit. He asked if I was going to do my front. I replied with a fuck no (keep in mind, this is at the end of my sit, ha). He said finishing your back is kind of bittersweet and said he'd put money on it I do my front, ha. We shall see. I can't imagine being sad to be done. But I do plan to finish off my arms, legs, and front of thighs eventually.

I guess I'll join in on the sharing fun (even though most of you have already seen this on Mike's instagram). Progress from my session at Pagoda City Tattoo Fest:

About 31 hours total so far. So maybe we are about 1/2 done?

Finished up a leg with Lehi. First two sessions at Blackheart, final session at Temple. Last year I got tattooed by Stewart Robson at Blackheart and I was saying I wanted to get some big work from Tim. Stewart told me flatly that I had to get a tiger.
Turned out Ok I guess, if you're into that sorta thing...
This is about 3 weeks healed (photo taken today). From his IG

Hello all! Not been on for a little while so thought I better jump on and give a bit of an update. Firstly @Graeme your back is looking great. I'll be that far along soon. Ian reckon's we could be done in 3 or 4 more sessions. In the mean time this is the progress from the last couple of sessions. Reposted from Ian's instsgram.

I found this short video about Tony D'Annessa online and figured that people here would be interested in it. Tony tattooed in New York City before tattooing was outlawed in 1961 and you can find him talking about NYC in Michael McCabe's New York City Tattoo book. He opened PSC Tattoo in Montreal in 1976 and the shop is still going strong and these huge roll-up sheets of his flash hang on the walls. I've been getting my back done there and Tony is there pretty much every day, occasionally doing a tattoo, but mostly hanging out, watching TV and making wisecracks. I got tattooed by him about three and a half years ago and I would definitely recommend getting tattooed by him if you're ever in Montreal.

Chris Garver is in NYC though that doesn't necessarily make the travel that much more affordable.
Check out Jeb Riley at Hobo's in Portsmouth, NH, Erik Rieth in Providence, RI, Forrest Cavacco in Plymouth, MA, and I'm sure people can suggest plenty of other good local-ish options because there are a lot of great tattooers in New England.

I guess you're one of those guys that thinks that every traditional tattoo needs lines as thick as your femur. Come back in a year or two and let me know what trend you are into then.

You pulled out a comment that I made two years ago which had no barring on any current discussion and called it "laughable". If that isn't looking for an argument then I don't know what is. I hate clogging the feed with this sort of shit, and I apologize to everyone for doing it. I have my reasons for picking the other shops over Smith Street, but I did not say anything to discredit anyone at Smith Street or anywhere else for that matter. And I didn't say that being here from the beginning made my opinions more valid than anyone else's. What I was saying is that in five years, and nearly 700 posts on this forum I have never been in one argument until now. On your twelfth post you started one. I accept your apology, and if I am wrong about this whole thing then I also apologize. Now how about we let this thread get back to what it is really about. If you have anything you would like to further discuss send me a private message.
