    The main thing is to narrow down the style you want and to find fabulous artists that nail that type of art down. Find things in their portfolio that you especially like and tell them "I want a different version of this". Aside from that, find objects that you like or that have any meaning to you. You'll be suprised at how many well-known artists are anxious to do something new and different. Another thing that works, some of these artists have sketches laying around and pinned up on the wall, just waiting for a customer to pick it out. These pieces are also works that they are phyched to get started on. It'll also help get your foot in the door.

    His point of view would hold water if he had the chops in his background to shore it up. Without a proven foundation it just means he can't draw to begin with.

    While I'm getting the back lasered, I'm also trying to decide on where to proceed next with placeable ink. I've already got 1 x "half sleeve" and 1 x "lower squid pant". For balance, will the next piece be the other "half sleeve" or the other lower leg? Hmmmmm . . . .

    I too wonder who's really at fault with this. These situations can usually be attributed to a variety of reasons/events/actions taken by both sides. I don't think the vast majority of us will ever "know", but I've sent a donation just on the weight of which and how many major tattoo artists have joined in the fight to keep this all alive . . .

    I think that (generally) this next generation is definately going to miss and/or not understand the "underworld" aspect of tattoos that most of us older folks do. We, in turn, will be shocked by their casualness to something we revere. Same goes true for many aspects of generational gaps.

    For my 1st session (2 weeks and 2 days ago), the pain was a bit worse than tattooing. I can't relate it to some dude going in with a jackhammer 6 hours into it, tho. From what I've learned so far, the different frequencies are for different colors, and the 1st session is the most brutal. I can let you know if the 2nd session is any better at the end of Jan. My motivation to get something fabulous to cover the old tattoo easily gets me through the pain. 12 treatments??!! Are you looking for blank skin or just to lighten and open up the cover possibilities?

    If it's not infected, you're just going to have to wait and see (at least a month, maybe 2), but it shouldn't be a scar. If it needs re-touching, tell your artist just like it happened. Shouldn't be a big deal.
