    I would like a blooming apple tree branch (because we have apple trees) with two chickadees (my husband and I) an empty bird cage somewhere with the the tree branches growing through it, maybe even breaking it. I would also like a triangle incorporated in the tattoo, maybe in the background with negative space somehow. I'm not planning to dictate placement or color choices, am I still going to be entering pet peeve territory?

    My guess is you're going to need plenty of room to fit it all in . . .

    It's always good to bring reference material, but once you've grazed a bit on this site you'll notice pretty much all agree that you should 1st find an artist whose style and work you love, and then let them do the layout and design utilizing the elements you've brought to the table. You'll end up with a much more professional and visually appealing result in the end.

    The tricky part is making sure you've got the right artist . . .

    Welcome!

    Nice sentiment. My advice would be to keep the words to a minimum. Nobody is going to want to read a paragraph - even if it is a small one. Maybe just "everything happens for a reason" and make the image larger. It'll still mean the same to you when you're older - and (if you pick the right artist) you'll have an awesome tattoo you'll still want to show off.
