  1. South Africa's no joke those portraits perfectly illustrate that . I remember a comment about how some Philly tattoo Convention people looking "hardened" by life well compared to these guys they look like the Vienna Boys Choir .
  2. Chriss Dettmer's got the "power" . In his blurb for getting tattooed by him he adds " If you have grim and dark ideas that seem to require listening to metal , tough and bold , that also lives right up my alley " http://theblackholetattoo.blogspot.co.uk/ Imagine if only the Millennium trilogy folks went totally buck wild and had Lisbeth Salander wear this tattoo !
  3. I took this pic of a tattoo on a work colleague of my wife , he's a London fire-fighter and he said he got it around 30 years ago from Jack Zeek in Hayes .Jack Zeek - DERMOGRAFIX TATTOOING Zeek Collection | Old Ink

  5. Here ya go homes from a sheet of Les Skuse flash , the middle bird is the kind of thing I meant .
  6. I think there's a subtle difference between a Swallow and a Sparrow tattoo particulary for someone in the U.K. . I think of a Swallow tattoo as more angular and slimmer and over here it can have associations with someone doing time or a "hard-man" . Swallow tattoo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  7. @peterpoose It's from these guys not sure which one of them though . GENKO & EN TATTOO STUDIO Web Site
  8. Watched The Cook , the Thief, His Wife and her Lover last night - pretty risqué stuff for Helen Mirren, it's not every day you see a Dame's bits . It's very theatrical with beautiful cinematography and awesome costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier check it out if you get the chance its a trip .
  9. The guy in the pic is Nottingham tattooer Wilf Hardy , he held the most tattooed man record in the Guinness Book of Records in the mid 70's overtaking previous record holder George Bone .
  10. Reminds me of the Desert Eagle scene from Snatch
  11. I really dig those George Burchett style serpents I've seen Bailey Hunter and Chris Cleen doing recently , funny I see them a lot on old boys over here but they are so badly blurred I could never tell if the tattoo was a dragon or snake , I see now they are both with wings like a bird - cool .

    Book thread

Just read JG Ballard's "Cocaine Nights " and really impressed by his stuff I've promptly ordered "High Rise ". Cocaine Nights is set on the Costa del sol and examines what happens when people get too much sun and become lazy with leisure . He presents a self-policed , post-civilised society in which citizens steal , vandalise , commit rape and arson , prostitute themselves and deal drugs as a series of leisure options .

  14. @gougetheeyes I've seen the type you described on sheets of Jerry flash
  15. A guaranteed way to tell if your artist is excited about your tattoo is to ask them to tattoo some one else's flash . I got a Mike Malone piece from Ian Flower and he said " I'll even tattoo it with my Malone machine for no extra charge " ha ha.
  16. @beez Have you considered Frith Street Tattoo ? I think it's around 2hrs to London by train . Frith Street Tattoo | World famous Frith street tattoo, custom tattoos situated in the heart of Soho, London. Walk ins welcome!
  17. @beez I normally would be hesitant about "guide to" type things but looking at this it appears sound - Paris Top Ten - Top Ten Tattoo Shops
  18. As you've already shown restraint why don't you take some time to look at more tattoos on this site to get a better idea of how awesome tattoos can be and the great artists that are out there . Like you said you want the first tattoo to be awesome and if so you will proceed from there , to ensure you live up to your getting tattooed potential and don't feel disappointed I personally wouldn't get tattooed at any of the shops you suggested . You are in a perfect position as you have the " time and finances " so you could consider a trip to neighbouring Russia or even one of the conventions/shops in Europe . I'll leave you a link to one of the prominent Russian artists to check out ÐвторÑкий Ñайт маÑтера татуировки Дена Яковлева
