  1. Holy shit. That actually legitimately makes me really upset.
  2. Hey, good to hear from you! Hope everything works itself out in your favor. I still feel like I say stupid shit all of the time, ha There is a lot of egotism in tattooing in general, it's one of the things about all of it that bums me out the most. I think everyone, myself included, falls into that pit from time to time. Sometimes we get so obsessed over the impression and impact of the art that we don't distance our selves from it and our everyone's-got-one opinions fly out, and words turn into vomit, etc. Thanks for that reminder though :) One of my favorite things about this place is that everyone is really mellow, really nice, and usually has no problem checking themselves. It's rare, especially on the soapbox of anonymity known as the internet.
  3. I'm always bummed out when there are actually good shows at Eli's cause I never want to hang out after I'm off work. Like I might as well just put a sleeping bag in the shop.
  4. As a tattooer, it's been really educational collecting work from a variety of people (and I think most artists feel this way). Perhaps this thread is more for the collectors than artists, as I think it's pretty unlikely that most artists would only go to one person for all of their work. I'm sure it happens though! But yeah, it's just cool to seek out an artist whose work you really admire and get to watch them work and maybe even pick their brain a little bit. In my experience, everyone I've been tattooed by has been really supportive and encouraging, and is always willing to share little bits of useful info. So with that in mind, I think I'll be collecting from different people for the rest of my life. I do have a few tattoos from the same people, but it's not more than maybe 2 or 3. Also, living where I live, there are a ton of really great tattooers out here and sometimes I get trade offers, which can be a double edged sword I guess. I sometimes struggle with whether I shouldn't get tattooed just because it'd be convenient and I need to be more conservative with my remaining space, or if I should just do it because they're a killer artist and the experience is just as important as the tattoo.
  5. You are going to have sooooooo much fun
  6. Are there way too many feathers, especially on ducks? The body is not a pillow. What's wrong with these warped pieces of poultry that they don't have any concept of what it means to be a living bird? You're not an eagle that rents grass for piles of snakes and crossbones.
  7. Hello, welcome. I'd suggest reading through any thread that looks interesting to you. You'll find good info everywhere. Hope you enjoy!
  8. @growltiger I did, thank you! @Graeme Thanks dude! I had a blast with it. @hogg Cheers, thank you! You should get one! They're such gorgeous flowers, I think those are called Hagoromo Chrysanthemums. Been wanting to do one for a while but always been intimidated by the structure and complexity of the design. Turns out they follow a pretty simple formula.
  9. Aw man, everyone is getting such great stuff lately. I haven't been tattooed this year yet. I think tomorrow I will be making an appointment with some friends to get one existing piece touched up and another finished. Way overdue for that, so there's something to look forward to. Anyway I think most of you have seen this on the 'gram, but here it is again
  10. Ugh, bummer!!! Can't even imagine wanting to laser a piece off right after you got it. ;__; @Graeme damn, damn, damn, damn. Congrats!
  11. @peterpoose are you referring to the piece on your knee or the one below it?
  12. @HaydenRose I tried to watch it, got 10 minutes through and couldn't. Not the same without Donnie Yen!
  13. Hey, welcome to LST :) I think you're in good hands. To draw on an age old cliche, a picture's worth a thousand words. Images draw meaning because they tell stories, and it seems like you're found the right image for your internal dialogue. You're in the hands of a great artist, so just trust that their vision will collaborate with yours and I guarantee that you'll get a tattoo that will bring you great happiness for years to come. Good luck on your next piece and be sure to post up some pictures!
  14. Hello, welcome! Do you have any tattoos yet?
