Thanks! Yeah, next session actually! I asked for it to be left blank until I had finished a piece by Jess Yen on the side of the thigh, but we have reached a point where we just have to get all the background done now, so hopefully next week we will get the other cheek and thigh finished (fingers crossed we have the time).

Session 2 done yesterday, plenty left to do but its crazy how different it looks from the end of the 1st session.
Borrowed this pic from Marius' instagram page. Started with the fine line scales on the snake, then the black in the skull and finally some colour on the snake. All told it was probably 5 - 5.5 hours this time around.

Despite the received wisdom that it hurts less if you're not wearing pants, my experience so far has been that if the pants are off, you're in for some serious hurting.

some spots were okay, some were bad, and some were really bad.

I have a few more pictures to share but I want to organize my thoughts and write a little blog entry to post along with those photos.

Too fast? ...tattooing isn't a race
Going too fast is when you have a bunch of tattoos lined but none are actually finish. I'm surprised how many people I see and know that don't finish what they start (and not just in tattoos, but in the ins and outs of life). If your arm is only lined in, why are you getting hand and neck tattoos? The ADD generation of tattooing.
Focus, commit and get the project done. Take your time to enjoy the experiences and the tattoos. Enjoy watching the tattoos heal and age. But most importantly take the time to enjoy the other things in life aside from tattooing. Balance.
I'll pass on the 'too fast' and stick with the tried and true method of the tortoise, 'slow n steady'. That's how I achieved my coverage over a dozen years thus far, the way I've made my pictures and my stories. I like what was said before about "the journey" and about "the larger experience". cheers :)

Bit of a long break from LST but I am still alive and slowly chipping away at my backpiece.
Had a decent break from tattooing over xmas which was great but back to the grind now.
The snake has taken quite a while but almost finished now. Each scale of the snake has 3-4 different shades of green so has chewed through some time.

My latest and greatest tattoo on my left knee, Had a very personal battle getting this one almost tapped a couple of times.
Artist is WT Norbert so stoked to have him working just down the road from my place

Tomo from Yellow Blaze is opening a studio in his home city in Nagaoka (think I'm right in saying Niigata prefecture).
It looks like it's an hour and a half from Tokyo on a Shinkansen.

Yeah, I just stress out a lot before sessions, I've really wanted to do it for a long time, and I know I'll get through it, the worst part is my mind fucking with me beforehand!

it's not too bad, but if you're anything like me, you'll have a very swollen knee for a few days.
