  1. My first "real" tattoo was a six hour event. When it was over I stood up while the artist was trying to take a picture, and after a couple of minutes I felt like I was going to pass out. I sat, drank water, and thankfully avoided fainting.

I have an appointment in two days for my next tattoo and I am really worried about passing out! I read that you should make sure to eat, but then I read if you pass out you'll vomit...

Help! What can I do to give me the best chance of avoiding passing out?

eat sugars,I eat Skittles and MM's before and during my tattoo,as well as a good meal right before and pre-hydrate the day before and during the tattoo with water.

    .

my mix of M&M's and Skittles works great for me,and yes, standing up right after a tattoo is always weird, you are endorphin high at that moment, after a long tattoo like that,I grab my water, relax, breath for a few minutes before anything else.hell, after a 6 hour session I can't even count money ! LOL

  2. I am in the same position as you. I recently finished my back (neck to knees) and now starting on continuing onto front. So far I am 9 hours in on my right front and not loving it at all. I have already done chest plates on both side so the work is from nipples down. Definitely not loving the process but the end justifies the means. My thoughts are all tattooing sucks but if you made it through your back then you will make it through your front. :)

The thing I love about tattooing is, moments after each session of tattooing has finished the majority of the pain is over. Healing sucks but at least it doesn't hurt. :)

    Cheers

    Jason.

this /\ and those 4 words are so good to hear, "looks like we're done".

  3. @rufio yeah i've run the spectrum on healing

got 30 pieces under my belt and this is probably the toughest heal i've had

i've also had a few others that barely pealed at all

i heal the same way every time - aquaphor day 1 and 2 - then pretty much a dry heal after that

    its all good though

for me location seems the key factor

my lower extremities are a much tougher heal thus far

ya,I agree, location and color too for me, yellow, blue, and some reds heal terrible(depending on location).I just got my leg & hand tattoo(10 days ago),on the same day, same colors, and my leg(inner thigh) healed 10x better than my hand is.

  4. Did a session last friday noon. Did not shower that evening and kept on the original wrap. Boy do I regret that now. Showered saturday morning, put on new plastic. Showered that evening and wow the itch started. It was so itchy, driving me mad. I thought it would be a good idea to put on a little bepanthen and cover it with plastic again for the night.

Next day, outbreak of little pimples. Few days further now and have some scabs unfortnately.

Long story short, Shower 4-5 hours after you got tattooed.

yep,I wash starting after 3 or 4 hours after the tattoo application in a warm shower scrubbing the tattoo with the palm of my hand with a anti-microbial soap and then 2 or 3 times a day for the first 3 or 4 days.

  5. wow i have never saw a tattoo THAT bruised before.

I know ! I had not either,I have been getting tattoos for a long time, when I was in my 20's & 30's etc etc,no big deal,no bruising,so I guess I just write it off now that I am 56 and my skin is different, the bruising is gone now,but the last couple years of tattoos I have experienced this bruising.Oh well,I should be happy that I am still kickin' ! LOL

  6. If I didn't bring my fiance to my most recent session I would not have lasted. He was a big support and the best distraction I could have hoped for.

yep ! pain management is all about putting yourself somewhere else, putting yourself in a good happy place, the challenge and control of pain management is an amazing thing our bodies are capable of,it is different for all of us,but the theory is the same.

  7. I have had bruises on my inner upper arm last summer and on my inner thigh just last weekend from getting tattoos.pretty normal,it will go away.

I got it from last weekend, like I said, mine always go away.it can also bruise from the tattooer grabing your arm or leg while tattooing.

this pic below was a couple days after the tattoo and a couple days ago and looking at it now the bruising is already fading.
