TaeTae got a reaction from ironchef in Full Back Piece Thread
@ironchef, beautiful work, nothing quite like traditional Japanese, perfect flow. Do you plan on having full legs? What's your plan for the rest of your body? -

Final session on my back with Rubendall today. It's bittersweet. So happy to have this portion of my back finished but will miss the fun times with Rubendall. Great gentleman, incredible artist and shrewd businessman. The complete ball of wax and then some. I still have some appointments booked and I'm thinking about starting something new with him. Henning will top things off end of this year when he'll be visiting and doing his usual guest spot at Kings Ave! Enjoy the pics!
Eyes, spine, and the orb/pearl
Filled in some more flame work as well
Rubendall said when after the orb/pearl is full healed, it'll lighten up to a bit of an iridescent affect.
Full moon close-up :o

Yeah strong Shige influences in Crooks' work. I love the modern style tho.

Chris cooks is a very modern style though right? Steve Wrigley is another great choice.

People are dumb. Having said that there is something funky about some traditional Japanese tigers I've seen. I read somewhere that it's because there were no tigers in Japan so the images were based on written descriptions in Chinese literature. In fact I just Googled it: Tigers in Japanese Art | Arts & Culture | Smithsonian. Here's the example they use:

First I just want to get a rant out of the way.
There was a picture of a tattoo done by Mike Rubendall posted on a tattoo community, and the comment's really annoyed me about how it was badly done, messed up face ect... It was a typical Japanese style tiger that looked great.
Everyone is, of course, entitled to their opinions about their favourite styles but the ignorance of these people got to me a bit
Tattoo enthusiasts should really know about the influence of Ukiyo-e and Japanese tattoos.
Anyway I thought we could have a thread to share some of our favourite Ukiyo-e pieces.
This was the piece by Rubendall, and a Ukiyo-e tiger.

Bit of a long shot but I don't suppose anyone can get a better look at what is wrapped around the bottom of these sleeves? I love old school Japanese pictures.
On another note I have decided to leave my sleeves as they are, I don't want to ruin the composition of what I have.
I do love the look of the Juzu beads though, so will be concentrating on getting them incorporated around my neck when I get my chest and back done. Thanks for the input!
