  1. it is amazing how much adult life = alcohol

tough day at work = beer

sunny day in the backyard = beer

    playoff hockey = beer

    family cookout = beer

    new tattoo = beer

    i'm thirsty = beer

You forgot to mention the cider, rum & wine.

Sunday morning breakfast ciders while prepping to have some ink drilled is a bit of a weekly ritual now :)

  2. Nurses in medical surgical can't wear sleeves below the elbow, for reasons relating to infection control, at least over here. Which is interesting because doctors don't have to. So I guess uniforms can be an exception. That still leaves plenty of real estate elsewhere.

Interesting. In Australia there's plenty of nurses and Docs sporting serious ink.

  3. You may be surprised.

I work in a corporate environment & required to deliver information to large groups of Directors.

I have this saying, "you gotta know your stuff & own your space"

I'll be the one who determines how I'll be perceived.

I notice peoples initial reaction when they see this dude walk in suited up from the neck to the fingers. I also notice their reaction when I walk out, which then has nothing to do with my tattoos.

I chose to express my different outlook on life through tattoos, I ain't ever gonna let them make me doubt who I am.

    Faaark being ashamed.

  4. @ Colored Guy. Same, the red I had pumped in over 20 years ago use to welt and become itchy intermittently even up to a couple of years after, eventually dropping out. Only the red but. Yellow too was a problem with wash out, but no reaction like the red.

Never gave it much thought, just stayed away from red & yellows and opted for darker more richer tones.

These days but, the reds and yellows work a treat & remain sharp.

  5. I gotta agree with the sound advice already given above. Faaark the wings, go the full eagle.

Not only are eagles the epitome of cool, they're timeless, and as a kick arse tattoo you will love it weather your 18 or 80.

Ditch the superman idea, that'll go down as "the tattoo I got when I was 18".

Full blown eagle, either smashed on the chest or across the front would both be shit hot.

But in saying this, this will be your 1st tattoo mate. A major piece em blazed on your front is no walk in the park. But don't let that make you opt for a little piece you may regret later just to test the waters.

Maybe...work out a killer half sleeve or something on your arm, then progress to a more challenging part of the body.

But then, I also know fellas who have gone hard core, straight up tattoo number 1.

Either way, the consistent advice here is choose well.

This is my eagle smacked under my chest.

    Eagles are rad!

  6. My wife is Maltese. Speaks 3 different languages. Prides herself that her theoretical understanding of the English language is sound, until.....

My mates rocked up the 1st time when we got together on their bikes for a bar b and a few sherbs.

Cranking the sounds, knocking back the ales, swapping lies with the general lingo happening.

She said to me the next day, "why can't you blokes just speak normal English? I had no idea what you's we're talking about"

My reply was, "but babes, we're not English. We speak faaarkin' Australian".

Even after 13 years together she still at times struggles to understand our humour and lingo.

God love her, keep her guessing eh hifire!

  7. The "taboo" of tattooing past your wrists & collar line ceases to exist once your suited.

In my book, tattooed hands and necks compliment the suit & takes it to another level. That's the work you have earned. But yes, we all have different takes on the subject. I refused to touch hands or neck until my suit was near completed and are now my favourite collections, although maybe not the best work. ;)

I think you can blend different styles, as long as the approach is consistent. I have vast differences in style, but maintained the basics of simple colour, bold lines, heavy black background and not too busy designs. I feel that's the key.
