    Great idea :D
Is it a good idea to link to previous threads that might be useful? For example, the fat people thread was nicely body-positive:

There's a pretty cool one about whether ladies should get dragon tattoos. It can be summed up as "Yes". I'll dig it out.

I think you'll find it has EVERYTHING to do with him being a creep.
I can't be arsed to critique the rest of your post. Musn't engage with creeps on the internet (unless they are extremely attractive, then they cease to be a creep and instead become charming. Hmmm.... Can you post a face shot so that I can decide?)

    Those gloves are great.
I'm self-taught, very slow, only been doing it a few years and not very good at finishing things. I tend to avoid anything that requires coming out as a certain size, and tend to focus on things that are monster-based, like so:
Crochet Cthulu and Day of the Dead bride and groom:

    Knit monster in a swing

My next project will be some stripey fingerless gloves. I'm currently focusing on yarn-bombing a nasty old pole in my garden which we use as a washing line. My toddler likes to peel the paint off it, so I'm hoping prettyfying it will stop him!

I've been to two well regarded London studios recently (Family Business and Black Garden). Being English, I felt terribly awkward about the whole tipping thing but wanted to express my appreciation for what I consider to have been great experiences all round. Both times I asked at the desk on my way out and received the same answer: not expected but appreciated. I also asked how much and was told that most people don't tip at all so anything is great, they gave me a suggested range and I went with the upper limit of that range (because I'm in a position to do so, but I didn't feel it was expected). It wasn't a percentage, they gave me a range regardless of total tattoo cost.
I hadn't considered the shop folk, but now I've read that I'm doubly glad that I tipped as much as I could. In both shops they were fantastic.
Anyway, hope that helps a bit when people are trying to decide whether to tip or not in the UK.

Could'nt find any knitting thread so here it goes :)
I thought we could (provided there are any nerdy knitters here) share photos of ongoing and finished projects, patterns, useful tips and rant about things going wrong and frogged projects, or maybe ones severe case of SSS (single sock syndrom). It would be nice if everyone started of with a little introduction.
I'll try to start. My grandmother tought me to knit and crochet when I was about ten and I've been doing it on and off for about 20-ish years. Still learning new techniques tho. My favorite material is wool and right now on my needles I have a pair of wristwarmers that have to be ready by saturday since it is a birthday present. They are done in two colours and the figure (called Hattifnattar) is from the finnish childrens story Mumin. I have redone them twice already and finally wrote my own pattern since they came out HUGE.
Also, if there are any ravelers (ravelry.com) here, feel free to look me up there. :)
And if you have a favorite podcast about knitting, please share! I really enjoy knit.fm. and I'm going to try out Knitmore Girls.

Tattooers tattoo over all sorts of scars, stretch marks, etc. Don't feel embarrassed or worried! This is the job, what makes it challenging and interesting. They have seen it all! I felt self-conscious when I started going onto my thighs because I have lots of cellulite. I wasn't sure how designs would turn out. The answer is obvious: my thighs are ten times cooler now. :)

I love the aesthetics of books. Walls covered in bookshelves are the greatest thing ever. Homes should look like libraries.

Having gotten into collecting tattoos, I've a new found appreciation and fondness of peonies. Currently wear three different peonies from three different artists (Henning, Rubendall, Wendy Pham) and will definitely be adding more in the future. I would love to see different interpretations of peonies collected from different artists or hear who you think does nice peonies. I'm kicking around the idea of sleeving my knee and lower leg in peonies, either from one artist or a collection of artists. I'll share two artists off the bat that have been recommended to me:
    Matt Deverson from Australia:

Rodrigo Souto working in the UK and is actually coming out with a peony book!
