    Wrecking Balm Review
    Reviews of the most popular stuff around here, and they are all pretty consistently negative.
    There's another bit about topical removal in the "Remove-Cover-up" thread. If you don't want to laser, or have a high pain tolerance and a small piece, salt and a wet washcloth are all you need!

    Just talked to Matty McTatty, he's going to be in Huntington WV for a few days this month and I've got a tattoo scheduled! I'm stoked, just thought I'd share that.

    Totally cool. I hope you didn't feel like I was attacking you in any way, it was not my intention. I liked what you had to say and I would never bring any negativity to this forum. You're correct about the tattoos not being the best on the tv shows. Some of the clients they would give us were very hard to work with and wanted really odd tattoos. The phrase "polishing a turd" word come to mind often... It tested ones patience.

    I think this kind of thing gets mentioned on here a lot, and I really like it. That is to work with someone who you trust and is good and the end result will be happiness. I've got 2 nice medium sized(about the size of my hand) tattoos that are unrelated on my left arm. If I'm a good boy and save my pennies properly I'm going to have the honor of having the great kore flatmo make an entire sleeve out of it. I haven't a clue what he's got in mind, but I REALLY trust him.

    something like....."I've thought about it, and personally it is subject matter that I'm not comfortable with, and I'm not comfortable tattooing things that I'm not comfortable with".... I was trying to be a little humorous with the wording... I might have failed.

    I don't think Hogrider's reply was suggesting that anybody who's done time is somehow less than anyone. I also don't think that getting stuff done in prison to save your ass equals getting that prison tattoo touched up when you get out. I certainly agree that some people do things in prison to survive that they might not otherwise believe in. If you get out of prison and you're still doing that stuff, then what it says to me is that you must really believe that stuff.

    Maybe he can get them touched up next time he's in prison. That shouldn't be too long!

    Comparing Black Power symbols to those of the Nazi's seems a little harsh. The former are symbols of pride, pride of overcoming discrimination and oppression, something all the white people who like to use the term "White Power" have never had to overcome, and are in fact the ones perpetuating that oppression. One symbol is promoting equality while the other is doing just the opposite. Black Power movement leaders didn't execute (or order the execution of) millions of people.
    But yeah, this just sounds like an all around uncomfortable situation. Post updates.

    This may be a little off topic, and I don't want to hijack anything, but I have some information that may be helpful to you Matt. I had a problem with scabbing for a long time myself, and never could figure it out. My wife though has never had any trouble with tattoos scabbing and she lotions like 90% of her body every day... like I guess a lot of women do. Anyhow... I tried it out, I lotioned the area that was going to be tattooed for about 2 weeks prior to the tattoo and had my first tattoo ever that didn't scab at all. I've done that on a couple since, and have been pleased with the results.

    I've listened to about 2/3rds of God is Not Great, and I'm currently about 1/2 way through real reading of The God Delusion right now. I agree with a lot of people that Dawkins' and Hitchens' tone is a bit harsh at times. I really admire their fervor though. I live in eastern Kentucky in the US where being open atheist can be somewhat like being black in Alabama in the 60's so it's encouraging to feel that there are like-minded people in the world. I very much like their harsh tones myself. I grew up Southern Baptist and these, and other, rather militant atheists are what finally led to my coming to question things and start to find peace of mind about how I feel about a lot of things. I think next I would like to read something from Stephen Hawking.

    @Iwar
    If you've already read some Hitchens and are looking for more of the same then maybe try Sam Harris' 'The End of Faith'. Dawkins possibly lays out his reasoning a little more neatly ('The God Delusion' could be on a reading list for undergraduate philosophy of religion) but Harris is the better polemicist.
    I can understand why people sometimes feel alienated by so-called 'militant' atheists like Dawkins and Harris, although it sometimes seems to me that people usually dislike their tone , which can feel a little mean-spirited, as opposed to being able to point to flaws in their arguments.
    Personally I think some of the best writing on this topic was by Carl Sagan (RIP). His 'The demon-haunted world: Science as a candle in the dark' is one of the best books I've ever read, and many of the essays it contains have a bearing on some of the topics discussed in this thread.
