Think it's time to show you a pic of my back too. Had my second session yesterday, overall around 5h under the needle so far and still many more ahead...
When it's done, it will be a full back dragon which goes down over my butt to my right thigh. The left thigh / butt cheek will include a koi swimming upwards. Planning to go for half or 3/4 sleeves and expand to the chest later too.
Tattoo is done by Thomas Schehr @ Koerperkunst-Tattoo, Karlsruhe, Germany.

Here is a pic he posted on his IG yesterday after the session:

Well, that was brutal. Takashi went back over lines to bolden them, and damn that hurt. But the outlines are all done! June for start of tebori!

And please, while you're here, do NOT stand in the middle of the side walk while I'm trying to get home from work haha.

Nice. Yeah, I'll be getting tattooed at 12:30 on Saturday the 8th with Grez. The shop guy, Dylan, is really awesome, so despite not being primarily a walk in shop, they try to get people in when and where they can.
Either way, Kings Ave or not, you have a million options. Good luck and enjoy your trip. Drop me a message here on Insta if you happen to be around the Bowery on the 8th! There are a million great places to eat around there.

Yeah, I've definitely see people at Kings Ave do walk ins on almost every trip up there. I'll be there on July 8, if you're in the area and looking for an LST meetup!
Smith Street, NYHC, and Rose were all super friendly and accommodating when I've stopped in to check em out.

    It looks good.
At six days, mine are unwrapped, getting plain lotion, and starting to peel. Lines peel differently than fields of color for me. You may not notice it if you are keeping the area clean, it may just peel off in the shower.

It's looking fine. Don't worry about peeling or scabbing, but stop re-wrapping it. Let it breathe.

Welcome to the forum! We would really need to see a picture to make any comment about your healing process. In terms of after care, you should be following the advice of your artist....did he/she tell you to wrap it at night? Unless you have concerns about cleanliness, or you are using something like Tagiderm (which I assume you aren't because you seem to be wrapping it each night), you should be allowing your skin to breath - it needs air to heal.
While some people here will advocate a dry heal with no lotion, many recommend a VERY LIGHT application of a fragrance-free moisturizer several times a day. Your tattoo should not appear wet after application.

idk looks like you got what you asked for ?
i think it looks cool and minimalist. we often make the mistake of wanting a full area filled in - prioritizing ink coverage over subject matter. looks like you got a couple nice open spaces to put in different tattoos, ideas are endless and they don't all have to blend. i like it when different styles and subjects melt together, it looks interesting. you can put some b&g roses, traditional tattoo designs, add some colour, cool japanese style tattoo to fill in the space, a snake, and and and...
i would do some research and find some illustrative woodblock print references for ideas. don't need to rush, take your time until you find the idea that 'sticks'.

Well, Takashi beat the shit out of me for 3 hours yesterday; was able to do the mikiri/background shading on my left shoulder.

But this was with tebori, for the first time on my backpiece, and although I have another tebori piece this was on a whole other level of pain. Especially behind the armpits... and the back ribs. Everyone says how your ribs kill, but no one talks about how your ribs extend to your back!
But it's weird because I totally could have taken a nap were it not for the pain... by which I mean, there really is a rhythm to tebori that's different than machine, and while it's a different kind of pain altogether, that rhythm is relaxing.
Anyway, Takashi rules, and persistence is the name of the game!

@tertia Unless you have a very specific idea of where it should be I think you should always trust your artist. That is, as long as you have a rapport and trust him/her generally, then they should know best.
For me, because I get traditional Japanese, I literally said, I'd like a Jikokuten backpiece, or, I'd like a minogame with momiji and waves. My artist had like three very general questions, and that was that. You give yourself over to the artist.
So, considering your question, I'd say again, as long as you trust them, it's their call.

I've asked to have stencils moved before. I did not, with my second tattoo, and the placement of it is not exactly what I wanted. All of the tattoos that followed on my left leg are shifted off to the left a bit because of the placement of that one tattoo. Lesson learned! That's the only time you get to move it if you don't like it.
