Jkeith got a reaction from Gingerninja in Partial tegaderm
Rewraped it. Went fine. I have a roll of saniderm and the tegaderm 4x4. I used the 4x4 on the wrist and they held better.
There is one spot where three pieces overlap in the same spot. Hope it won't cause an issue, breathability wise

It's still on, it's held for 24 hours. Im going to reapply today and try to leave on for 5 days.

Thanks, forgot. I added two ideas I found I may look at getting.

Sounds good. I've read a few places (obviously, the all knowing Google) that movement could be a factor. But, apparently that is not the case, which is fine by me.

You win. Really wasn't bad at all. Call me crazy, but it was maybe a 4 to 5 on the pain scale. Only thing that is sore now is a small portion of the elbow bone.

Jkeith got a reaction from Gingerninja in Cyst under tattoo?
Lol, I can go with the leave it alone advice. At worst, it just stays as is I suppose.

Hey there....leave it alone, no poking or prodding by you or anyone else. :) Most likely will eventually go away. Give it a month or so. Your skin has been traumatized (just the nature of tattooing), so getting a bump is not anything to freak out on.

Jkeith reacted to Dan in Getting tattoos tomorrow....wanted some clarification on how to use saniderm
This is my saniderm method,I have used it for several years now and several tattoos.
1)in the first 24 hours,I leave the artist applied saran on for about 4 hours, then wash it with warm water and anti-microbial soap scrubbing with the clean palm of my hand, pat dry with a clean paper towel, then add a very light coat of palmers cocoa butter, then cover with fresh saran.
I repeat this every 3 or 4 hours for that 24 hour period.waiting 24 hours is enough time IMO for all the fluids to come out.
2) wash one more time, pat dry with clean paper towel, apply saniderm being careful to not have any bubbles.Make sure there is about a 2" overlap around the tattoo.leave it on for 4 to 6 days.
BAM ! done !
here is a pic of that method on my last one a few weeks ago.
(of course my wife helped with this one)
I buy the 10.2" X 2 yd roll ($16.95 directly from Saniderm.com) and I like lots of overlap.

Maybe you're nervous because it's going to hurt like a bitch ... maybe. What's very sensitive on one person may not hurt bad on someone else. As my artist always says, just because it hurts is no reason not to get tattooed.

That's totally going to be worth it. Find your happy place!

Jkeith reacted to bongsau in Is your tattoo infected and aftercare FAQ
Looks pretty thick and dry. It's only Day 5, give it another 1 or 2 weeks. If the surrounding skin starts getting red and inflamed, stop using lotion on it. The hair follicles might get a little irritated too if it's on your leg if you use too much goop. Remember you only nead a pea drop to deal with the dryness, don't over moisturize.

Don't over clean it, either. Twice a day should be fine - I like to use Dial Gold - and pat it dry with a clean paper towel each time you wash it. I then use just a very small amount of Aveno.

Every tattoo and every body heals a bit different. A lot of variables.
I've had lots of tattoos made and some heal in a few days, some take weeks. Note this is superficial healing, the real healing of the body takes place over several weeks.
I don't even use lotion anymore (dry heal) because my skin gets irritated and I find that's what works to me. Just leave the tattoo alone and keep it clean, don't put too much balm or lotion on it. Whatever you think is the bare minimum cut that in half !
Doesn't look infected at all, your arm (not leg haha) isnt' going to fall off and the tattoo is in there. Just give it time and don't stress. We've seen waaaaay worse in person and on the internet and you're looking fine bud.
Congrats on popping your tattoo-cherry and welcome to slippery slope of dermal illustrations ;)

Yeah, I've backed off to fragrance free Curel. Everything seems good, the outlines seem to transfer over to the paper towel when I pat it dry.
