You get one life. Enjoy it, stop worrying about other people's lives and try not to be a socially brainwashed robot on a hidden law on how you should live. There is no rule book!

@peterpoose are you referring to the piece on your knee or the one below it?
On my knee mate:)

@peterpoose No tattoo is perfect and even the best can make mistakes, to be honest though, considering your favoured style is black and grey realism, I don't think that artists work is overly impressive in that style. You are very dedicated to the work you get, respect for that. Hope you get something you are happy with next time.
Thank you mate and yes I am not angry at all, shit happens :)

Honestly, I think the placement is just off. But that's just my opinion.I agree, I think that picture needed a flat surface to show it properly but we live and learn. :)

Artist David Corden!
We have tried something completely different work wise, totally out of mine and Davids comfort zones, it may not work but we tried for something different lol
Brutally honest opinions chaps and girls lol we went for scribbly textured arty fartty style lol. We need to do more shading down the inside of the leg still and David said once its settled down we should see lots of textures. 10 hours on this and we still need to add more shading as its swollen really bad at the moment.
What do you think?
Just an update, I am joining the noob laser people lol I hate this tattoo, looks like a blob of shit so its going :)
I guess I have to experience all aspects of the tattoo world :)

Wow, awesome @peterpoose !!
I'm just a noob, so no critique from me either. I will say that I've been following your journey with your many artists, and what I really want to know is, once your journey is over (and I realise this will be really soon), do you think you will miss getting tattooed or is the whole process just a means to an end?
Oh most definitely! Something I am not looking forward to to be honest :(

Was at the shop yesterday to get a Leopard head. Here's what Dano, the artist, came up with. Needless to say I was stoked, even tough it wasn't what I originally had in mind. However its over 9000 times better than what I had in mind and I was very open to suggestions. Which I think he appreciated, you could tell he had a lot of fun doing it and during the smoking breaks, he was constantly checking it out thinking about it. He said while tattooing he's in another dimension. Soo... bold will hold, here's the finished tattoo right after getting stabbed:
Even though traditional isnt my first choice, this is fantastic!

Ha it's a valid question though. We all know tattoos fade over time, so you would think that something light and highly detailed wouldn't hold up. Truth is, this highly detailed style either hasn't been around long enough, or hasn't been prominent enough that there aren't a lot of great examples out of ones that are aged, I'm basing this solely off of what I have seen thus far. I have to say though, I am glad that @peterpoose started a thread where he is updating the aging of his arm. It sounds silly, but I don't think anything has been documented like that before so it will be a good thing to take note of.
Also I think that comment started off as a backhanded compliment from people who just don't like the style, and then people who don't know any better keep perpetuating it.
"That looks great, but how will it age?" can also be read as "That is going to fade and look shitty in a year, so that means my solid line tattoos are better."
Not to derail the thread.... I guess we can discuss it more here.

Thanks guys, you pretty much summed it up.
For me personally as I started getting tattoos at an older age in 20 years time I don't think I will give a shit what they look like, that's even if I am still alive. Had I been younger then maybe I would have thought about it more. It isn't just the tattoos but the experience, the traveling the meeting new people, seeing new sites that is all very much part of it for me and that will always stay with me whether the tattoos do or don't :)
I was at Randy Englehards shop last week for a VIP party and there was every top notch artist you could think of there, so I did look at aged stuff and it still all looks fabulous, so I guess there is hope :)

Wow @peterpoose did den do yours too ? did the dude on the right pick this from dens portfolio or something ? you would have thought he would have more integrity and change it up slightly , poor show
Nah mine was done 2 years ago by Dmitriy Samohin, this was done recently :)
-
Lol just happens Den Yakovlev just did my tattoo on someone else, dont know why somebody would want the same tattoo as someone else :)
Mines the one on left by the way :)

who did the copy?
Domantas Parvainis :)

I had my smokey flower tattoo redone by a world class artist but in a slight colour variation. I got the picture from the internet so I was not angry but I was surprised that another world class artist would do the same tattoo albeit slightly different knowing that my tattoo was out there and by another world class artist. I just didn't think that one of the artists that could pull it off would bother doing it.
I think I would feel differently if my custom back piece was copied and I think all custom tattoos should never be touched by another artist. Obviously this will never happen. I was in a studio the other week and a customer brought in that Niki Norberg sleeve picture and asked one of the artists to copy it. Don't understand why someone would want someone else s tattoo (not talking about flash here) lol When he left I asked the artist will he do it and he said he hates it but it pays the bills.
Here is my tattoo and the part that was redone :) They do say that copying is the sincerest form of flattery :) He did do an amazing job though!

Myth of the professional Tattooer
in General Tattoo Discussion

There should be much stricter laws on tattoo shops although this would also drive the shit work and scratchers underground in which case the authorities have an even harder time to at least enforce the health and safety standards as above board on tattooing.
