  1. I like the intro a lot, and the songs have a nice Whiskeytown feel to them.

Have you ever listened to Tim Lee? Hell of a guitar player.

Nope. Never heard of him. What's his deal?

Also, that's awesome that you picked up on a Whiskeytown vibe from these songs. Ryan Adams has definitely been a huge influence on me over the years.

    Thanks again!

  2. I'm currently finishing up the final mixes to my new album that I've been working on for just over a year now.

I'm super proud of how it's turning out and I can't wait to get it released!

    It's finally released!

I wrote, recorded, tracked, and performed the whole thing (except for the drums).

Here's the link if you guys are curious at all:

    With Wolves

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I hope you guys like it.

  3. Purely out of curiosity, I just watched the first two episodes of this season. The thing that bugs me the most about it is that they give the winners of the "Flash Challenges" the ability to assign all of the "Human Canvases" to each tattooer. What this means is that they are purposely trying to make their competitors put on bad tattoos that they know they can't pull off so that they can further themselves in the competition. They're actively trying to get the clients bad tattoos.

I mean, I understand that it's a competition and money is at stake, but these are tattoos. People have to live with these for the rest of their lives and I think it's a total dick move to completely neglect to think about the client's happiness and their right to get a good tattoo.

Like it was said earlier, this is just a TV show. There is good and bad associated with it's impact, of course, but ultimately it's aired for entertainment purposes and not for promoting artistic integrity. That's their prerogative and that's fine, but I think it's incredibly irresponsible to participate in fostering a culture where people get shitty tattoos on purpose. That's never cool, and that's where I take most issue with this show.

  4. Seriously one of my favorite tattoos of all time. I think about it quite often!

edit: Any chance we could see a healed shot sometimes soon?

    Thanks so much!

I truly couldn't be happier with it.

I'm going to be in Manhattan in a few few weeks and I'm going to pop by the downtown Kings Avenue shop to get some serious photos taken for Mike's new portfolio.

If I can get my hands on some of those professional photos I'll try and post them here for you to see.

  5. We've got a winner winner chicken dinner.....as @Dan S said, "...there have been more votes this month than in any other month so far...outstanding!" This month was insane for votes and I like it!!

The winner is @rozone for his tattoo by Mike Rubendall (post #13), congratulations and thanks for sharing!!!

(PM me your shirt size and male or female shirt along with your address.)

I saw some great tattoos in the Latest Tattoo Lowdown thread this morning so hope for big things this month.....have at it, October 2012 Best Tattoo of the Month

    This is the best news!

Thanks for all the votes, everyone!

  6. I just had a session on my right arm to add detail and shading to all of the leaves on my sleeve and it was sooo brutal.

The leaves just so happened to all be conveniently located in places like my elbow, my elbow ditch, my inside bicep, under my wrist, etc.

I'm glad it was only 3 hours because I don't think I could've handled any more.

I've been tattooed in all of these spots before, but for some reason yesterday was the hardest session I've ever had to sit through. It was a struggle from the get-go. I guess getting a good nights sleep and eating well beforehand really does make a difference.

  7. Just looked and it's going to be November 19 at Il Motore. Tickets on sale through the Blue Skies Turn Black website. I really hope I can swing that show.

Amazing. I really, really hope I'm in town for this show...

  8. Hahaha, that is how I remember their shows. Saw them many times in the late 90s.

Shiftwork means that I usually can't go to the shows I want to go to, but some things that are coming up that I would ideally like to go to include SWANS at the end of October, the rescheduled OM/DAN HIGGS show I think in November, and the Messe Des Morts festival (a bunch of bestial black/death like RAGNAROK, REVENGE, BLACK WITCHERY over three nights) is also in late November and I'd like to go to at least one night of that.

    OH SHIT!

@Graeme do you know when/where the Om/Dan Higgs show is taking place?!

I'd kill to see both Om and Dan Higgs individually, but together?!

    MIND = BLOWN

  9. I most definitely feel your pain right now...

I was tattooed 3 times this past week on three different body parts (my entire right arm, my right upper thigh, and the side of my left calf). Needless to say, sleeping, walking, sitting, standing, and lying down have all been a pain as a result. I'm itching and flaking all over the place!

Thankfully it's all worth it for getting a bunch of cool tattoos, but I still can't wait until everything is all healed up.

  10. how does the wrist feel? i'm not expecting it to be too bad, but i feel like the underside of the wrist-the area where you can see the tendons and veins-would suck to get tattooed.

I personally think that the 3 worst spots on the arm by far are: elbow (both the elbow ditch and the actual elbow), followed by wrist, followed by inner bicep. None of these spots are unbearable, but I was definitely aware of the fact that I was getting tattoed when I got these spots done on both arms.
