After a quick search looking for ideas for an ear tattoo, I quickly realized that there are no threads or mentions in existing threads about the ear area. So I'm fixing that. This is a thread for sharing finished ear area tattoos as well as ear area tattoo ideas, experiences, reactions, healing tips, and tattooing experiences.

I got this Marquesas  piece last wed on Maui from Mo'o http://tataubymoo.com/ at http://www.bluehawaiitattoomaui.com/   he designed it for me after a long conversation and many months consultation.

yeah usa and i suppose but thats why i put up my ideas... so people could decide from that who could potentially be the best match for me. and 2-3 year waitlist sound like prima donnas. i talked to carlos torres assistant through email and he's only booked through 2016 but open for 2017 and he's got over 400k followers

well that sounds great with Carlos Torres for sure ! and you wanting a  smaller arm/chest piece is cool too !

    because,

you will only need $5 or $6 thousand and maybe get it done in only 5 or 6 sessions !

Yep, that works! @Dan I haven't been to Hawaii since I was a kid. I'd love to go back but it just takes so dang long to get there from the East Coast. We end up going to the Caribbean most often. Wear your sunscreen. :)

yep !  lot's of SB,we go to Kauai & Maui every year,I bring an umbrella with me too, LOL

  5. we are leaving for Maui for 2 weeks on Monday May 2nd, we fly Alaska Air on a 737-800 which has a crew of 4 plus the 2 pilots,Alaska has great onboard service IMO btw,

the crew is always so good, we always fly first class and they treat us like royalty there.

we always like to tip them and acknowledge their hard work somehow, this trip we got the crew all Subway gift cards and the pilots Starbucks cards, enough for the return flight too.

they always are so surprised and appreciative of these thank you things we love to do.that's the real payoff for us,we have a lot of fun doing this.

everybody seems to forget this part of the service industry.so we try and do this little stuff that means a lot to them.

  6. I was recommended Holly or Austin. Both were booked two+ months out so I was going to choose someone else when Austin had an opening in a few weeks! Booked my appointment with him, pretty stoked.

Thanks and I can definitely see myself getting a very traditional eagle/flag mix in the future, always loved those.

2 months is not a long wait at all if those artists are who you want,I have waited a year for an appointment before, and some artists are booked out a couple years.

  7. I work in advertising, and no one cares what I wear. I show my tattoos a lot during the summer just because it is HOT where I live. I am really glad I don't have to wear grown-up clothes, too! Today's ensemble: Grateful Dead T-shirt, harem pants, gladiator sandals. I'm all about comfort!

me too,it's all about comfort,I live in a place that's hot in the summer too,Sacramento Ca,

    where do you live ?

and right on to the dead shirt, back in the 70's & 80's I did about 75 dead shows. LOL I think anyway ! LOL

  8. Well, I'm just going on a couple of people I know who have to wear grown-up clothes (and dress socks) to work every day, and the tattoos on their ankles look like ass now. It may be more to do with them being shit tattoos, though. :-)

LOL that's not me ! !!! LOL I don't even own a dress shirt or tie or slacks ! my version of getting dressed up is a button up shirt and long pants ! LOL

    .

I wear shorts and tees about 11 months a year ! even for work,I must have been a UPS driver in a past life.

too bad I have to wear shoes for work though :(

no shoes allowed any other time ! sandals only ! I think I am permanently lost in island time.

ya,I use a lot of sun block

  9. I am guessing that she's thinking about what happens when you wear socks over an ankle tattoo over the years. It kind of fades/looks sort of blown out? Know what I mean?

That said, as @wildcat said above (and I'm glad I'm not the only one here who can't go without a bra!), it should be fine after it is healed.

IMO that's not gonna happen,if anything being kept out of the sun a tattoo will remain brighter and better looking.

I have both ankles tattooed and wear socks for work and they still look great,I think the sun will do more damage to tattoos than any piece of clothing, and like was said,a tattoo can't be rubbed off,or damaged, or degraded by straps or clothing.

  10. "What's one more?" is something Mrs. T says when it comes to taking care of another kid or rescue animal, so we'll test that out with our new adoption, "Finn". He was rescued 10 weeks ago from being euthanized by a new group called Houston Pets Alive. Most dogs get adopted pretty quick, but not this one. He's not exactly the most handsome little guy, but he is super sweet and we knew no one else was likely to give him a forever home.

We think he looks pretty cool. He has warmed up and loves his new dog and people family. It is obvious to us that he was abused in the past, but we will be patient in returning him to a more secure and happy dog.

    Mowhawk? Check

1920's raccoon coat for the full Wayne Coyne effect? Check

LOL awesome ! what a great blend ! love his look.

  11. I got my first tattoo done about a month ago: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

I was fairly happy with it, I thought it needed some more work to get it exactly where I wanted it but I was pleased for the most part.

Jump to last Saturday I decided to get my second piece next to it:Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

The main focus I wanted is the map, and the sun. And I wanted blue to connect the two, like a sea blue to represent the Mediterranean Sea and sort of be like the filler so the tattoo looks whole.

Let me start off by saying the artist I went to is darn good, I saw his work, I observed him work, I looked at his portfolio, it was impressive. However I feel like I got the short side of the stick with my tats. Compared to some of the stuff I've seen him do I feel like he didn't give me his all. I feel good about the idea of the map/flag combo still, although i feel it could've been done better. I feel good about the sun also. My biggest issue is the tribal blue waves in between! I think they look horrendous to be quite honest. I'm not artistically inclined at all, so I kinda just trusted him to do his thing. Looking back, tribal waves was probably a bad idea to begin with! Specifically those ones. I wish I had gotten a cooler background to connect the two, I wish I hadn't agreed to those ugly designs.

What do you guys think about the tats? And seeing them, what can I do in the future to make it better while keeping the theme of flag/map, ocean, sun? Am I overreacting? I guess I'm pretty stuck with the tribal waves aren't I since they're outlined in black? My problem is I'm really not an artist, I don't KNOW what I should've put in there to connect my two pieces, I just know that what I have now looks bad and I regret it.

I've had this thing for less than 3 days and I already hate it...imagine as more time goes on?

I like the tribal/water/wave one,it's bold, colorful and nicely done IMO.

  12. ok, thought I've seen it somewhere so people soak the tattoo to get out the plasma.

Also seen something about a hot compress.

what I do is for the first 3 or 4 days(3 times a day),I get in a warm shower and clean my hand with this an antimicrobial soap and then apply the soap to the tattoo and scrub the tattoo with the palm of my hand, that gets rid of the oozing plasma and keeps it clean and works great for my healing.

    soap.jpg

and IMO the hot compress would be painful.

try an Anti-inflammatory OTC like ibuprofen or naproxen ,and it would help if you can stay off your feet and elevate your legs.Instead of a hot compress maybe try icing it,that would feel a lot better than heat.

  13. Also working on my lower legs. How many people actually take a bath after getting work done? I heard this helps a lot. Ive been having a lot a plasma on my lower legs. Will that help?

well, you don't want to submerse the tattoo in water for the first 3 or 4 days, washing it off quickly is good, but don't submerse it.
