Don't drink the night before, get a good night of sleep, eat a hearty meal before you head to the shop & bring a fully charged phone, headphones and a book. You'll be fine ;) but yeah all tattoos hurt. Just some more so then others.

I agree they all hurt,I have tattoos all over my body, and my inner thigh tattoo has been the most painful for me.

and I agree with the pre-tattoo preperation, but I might add bring candy to keep electrolytes up,I bring skittles and M&M's mixed in a bag and a couple cold bottles of water,I even bring a small ice chest to keep the water cold.

  2. I had this done on May 11th,unfortunately it has some bad blowout in the bottom 3rd of it :56_anguished:,the artist had a heavy hand ,and I know it's mostly blown out in the soft part of my neck, and he had to stretch the skin a lot there, but looking on the bright side,of all my tattoos this is the first blow out I have had.

this was taken right after the tattoo was applied,May 11th

and these were taken on may 31st

  3. to me a "tattoo collector" is one like me,

    I consider myself a collector,

IMO a "tattoo collector"  is one who collects several different styles from several different artists.small and large pieces.

I have some tattoos from very well known artists, and some from not so well known artists,

I have some amazing tattoos and I have some not so amazing tattoos LOL,but they are mine and I like all my tattoos.

most of my tattoos do not really "go together" or stay with a particular theme,

I have full arm sleeves, but they consist of many different pieces and styles, some pretty small some large, some very old some new,the same goes for my legs,

I have a mix of  color tattoos and  B&G,I have some fineline and some bold line pieces,

I get a idea of the next piece and artist by how I feel at that moment, although I do now have a plan since I am running out of room,

my collection started in the early 80's and has been done by artists from texas & california & Hawaii.I like traveling  to get work done,I like getting convention tattoos also.

so that's my take on what a "tattoo collector" is.  :14_relaxed:

So I finally had my calf tattoo done yesterday (pic in the latest tattoo lowdown thread). I'm wondering about the swelling which I still don't have at 32 hrs post tattoo - does it usually take some time to show up or have I dodged the bullet? That would be great because we decided to go with my uninjured leg in the end (for aestethic reasons) and since I still have some occasional residual swelling in that ankle, I'd rather not have two massive cankles lol. My skin seemed much less irritated than with my other tattoos, with barely any redness, for some weird reason.

Have to say it was my least painful tattoo yet (the others are on both inner forearms, nape of my neck and a small piece each on upper arm & chest), to the point that I could have slept, but did my best to stay awake since I sometimes experience some fun leg twitching while asleep... I guess it could have been due to the artist's light hand and/or the kind of tattoo machine used (my first tat with a rotary). Also, it seems to be weeping a ton less than my forearm tattoos did, even though they are a bit smaller - so much so that I applied the tegaderm at just 3 hrs from the tattoo and I can still see the tattoo under it very clearly which is very different from the huge black bubble I got with the only other tattoo I 'dermed.

I have a lot on my lower legs and never had swelling at all,but recently I had the top of my right hand done and it was a low pain level for me but it puffed up pretty good.

BTW,I have both ankles done and man I could not stop my leg twitching,it was bad !

my knees, elbows and neck were not too bad either,

my inner thigh pretty much sucked,

IMO it's really different for all of us and of course it also depends on the artist.

  5. crap ! sophistre ! that sucks,

and oboogie and polliwog ,I love my central AC,it costs a lot to run it,but it sure is worth it,we only have this bad heat for a month or two a year, and it's not constant like that,

we get an onshore breeze that's called the "delta breeze" that cools down the area,as you can see nature's AC is coming this week fortunately

and DeVious6,I could never hate my AC LOL

  6. I think I have tattoo OCD, :8_laughing:

I have a  lot of tattoos and have been getting tattooed for many years,

and still it seems everyday ,all day,

all I think about is tattoos, tattooed people, tattoo art, tattoo shops, and probably the worst is me thinking of what my next tattoo will be.

do you guys think I have a problem ? does this happen to anyone else ?

now don't get me wrong,I still think about beer & sex & food !

I already have the appoinment and he did a quick sketch on paper just to see the size and the general composition, I already discussed with him the tattoo. Mine is more a cultural reference: who invented this design and where could I find images of this design. The only image similar to this is a tattoo I found by Olivia Dawn.

well I don't think you will find a "cultural reference: who invented this design" of it,the only thing I think you will find is examples of what other artists have drawn up & done in a tattoo,I don't think there is a "cultural reference",that's like asking for a "cultural reference" of a swallow or anchor tattoo,it's just art IMO.

Imo. It would cover the area as in the skin but the actual cellulite would still be there and with different lighting would still be noticeable. It could possoble less noticeable with working shades and shapes. It has worked with scars etc with great and beautiful results

Personally who gives a sh!t. Be comfortable and confident in you. Get tattoos for the art and beauty of the pieces.

    Cheers!

@Dan waiting can suck ;) have you been on quite long waiting lists? I've not experienced that yet, I am pretty certain I would drive myself insane with the anticipation and excitement.

@Synesthesia , it can be tricky working out what to get can't it! Hey why not go for the whole dagger through the animal... two birds one stone ;)

have to agree with @Shaun1105 though, this last tattoo I gave a general idea and let him design it how he wanted and have to say it was the best outcome. I am sticking to that approach :)

@otisc !!! Looks like you will need another project to keep you occupied !

@bongsau I am hoping that I get the same result by the time I do start my thighs :) It does reassure me, reading that's how it went for you with your back! (off to stalk and see if I can find a photo of your back now :)  )

    yes,I have waited a year before,and I am not a patient person ! LOL

I agree with @oboogie I would have voted CRO out before Christian or Anthony. I was kind rooting for that big hillbilly James though. He cracked me up, and at a certain level the show is more about entertainment value than tattoos.

I agree that it is a risky thing for artists to go on there but fuck. How desperate for a tattoo would you have to be to volunteer to be a canvas?  There have been some really crappy tattoos walk off of that show.

    this for sure

I lost my black lab to a stroke a couple of months ago. I finally felt up to adopting a new rescue. Meet Brontë. She's a St. Bernard/possible Blue Tuck Coon Hound mix. She's going to be a big girl!
