    During the outline on my stomach, I definitely crushed two beers back to back. I think that's only the second time I've had a drink during a tattoo but I gotta say it helped a ton and healed fine (it was just the outline).

    ya,that's just my personal rule,I am am heavy drinker,except when getting tattoos,I learned why a long time ago and didn't like it.

    what I do before and during a tattoo is this,

    1)don't party hard the night before(no alcohol),get a good night's sleep, & pre-hydrate the day & night before with water or something with electrolytes(gatorade & most sports drinks)

    2) eat a good meal right before

    3)bring 2 or 3 bottles of water or sports drinks with electrolytes,a banana,skittles & M&M's,and maybe some jerkey all to munch on & drink during.(keeping your sugars,proteins & potassium levels up).

    4)*like was said,if you have high anxiety,maybe take something like 1 or 2 mg of Lorazepam to relax you a little before & during the tattoo.

    5) most important ! NEVER DRINK ALCOHOL BEFORE OR DURING A TATTOO !

    I'm Chelsea, an artist in the Bay Area who's happy to have found a community forum for tattoos! I have a deep respect and admiration for the tattooing world and have 9 tattoos so far. I've got work from Erik Jacobsen, Nako Tiau, Nate Abbot, Mike Davis, Adrian Monohan, and Geo Rogers.

    Anyone else have the recurring urge to punt Emily in the ham wallet?

    me for sure ! she's a total asshole,and a crappy tattooer,

    but then they have to give us one or two every season to dislike,good for ratings.

    Apparently no one has ever told Emily that if you are going to talk trash, you had better be able to back it up.

    I get so sick of those losers saying "if you give me one more chance, I'll show you what I can do." You did show us what you can do and it's crap!

    I agree,they need to stop sniveling because of their crappy work !

    a neighbor behind my house got evicted and then the property owner got foreclosed on,and the asshole renter abandoned their dog in the back yard,we had been trying to give it food & water,

    I called the county animal control,and they came out and rescued the dog within 4 hours of me calling !

    awesome service from them,the dog is better now and should be up for adoption soon.

    I started volunteering for a wild bird rescue center. It's literally a crappy job, but I love being around and interacting with the birds. Usually they are baby birds that fall out of nests, or birds that were injured by cats/dogs/cars. I get to clean cages, floors, aviaries as well as prepare food and maintain the facilities. Occasionally they'll have me help with the feeding and care of the birds.

    So far my favorites have been the hummingbirds. They'll buzz around your head because they're just naturally curious and not too fearful of humans. I also get to work with swallows, ducks, sparrows, finches, pigeons, doves, and quail.

    I do this for 4 hours per week and it's been very rewarding despite having to constantly clean up bird poop.

    that's probably the best one yet ! good thing to do brook,

    I have a thing for birds too :)

    I guess I should have been more clear... by grooming I meant a haircut. I also think I tend to substitute a haircut for grooming since we've always done the other grooming ourselves (nails, bath, ears, etc.). Actually, when we had a Springer Spaniel we sometimes trimmed her hair ourselves.

    ya,grooming to me is the whole nine yards,nails,ear cleaning,shampoo,blowdry(to clear undercoat),haircut(including trim everywhere & her squared off aussie butt),

    we have a close by,trusted groomer we always go to.

    Maui looks fucking awesome! How were the pool bars, and the multi coloured drinks with little umbrellas in them? I fucking love pool bars, oh, and multi coloured drinks with little umbrellas in them. BUT! only when I'm on holiday so none of me mates can see me drinkin' 'em.

    LOL we stay away from the tourist crap like pool bars ,and I drink one colored beer :D we go to Maui once a year & Kauai once a year,we have become very good at NOT doing that silly tourist bullshit,we don't stay at hotels anyway, we rent a private condo on Maui & a private home on Kauai when we go.

    we have made several friends on each island,and know the quietest most beautiful places to hangout.

    but hey ! if that's what you are into that's great,just not my thing.

    @Dan never knew Aussie's had to be groomed... haha! My dad has an Aussie/Beagle mix and she has the Aussie colors, but not the heavy coat, so no grooming.

    IMO all dogs need regular grooming,nails,ears,etc,etc.

    she's a "blue merle", :)
