I'd put away the tattoo machine for now and not touch it until you are safely under the direct supervision of a professional and very experienced mentor. I believe the word for the day is "Apprenticeship".

Seriously, you found getting a tattoo too expensive and therefore bought a tattoo machine instead???

So this morning I put on a plain short-sleeved white T-shirt, and my upper arm piece barely peeks out from the edge of the sleeve. My husband, who has no tattoos but supports my own interest in them (he seems to be completely ambivalent about them - take them or leave them, to each his or her own, etc.) said to me, "Now that's bad-ass."
I didn't know what he was talking about and asked what he meant, and he pointed to my arm, explaining that the tiny bit of tattoo showing at the bottom of my t-shirt sleeve made me look like a bad ass chick, and he seemed quite delighted! He typically doesn't remark on my tattoos much, whether they're showing or not showing, etc., so this was new for him.
So, sometimes, just like clothing can do for the female form, just the suggestion of what might be underneath is just as intriguing as showing off the full tattoo. Interesting!

Starting my tennyo hagoromo piece. Finished the outline. Thinking about keeping wings black and grey and coloring the rest. Any thoughts? I was going to put some clouds in the background but I went pretty big with it so I could get some detail in. This subject is usually a back piece. I was kind of concerned about it being too much for the arm, but I'm pretty much in love with the way it turned out.

In the last 3 years I have covered one leg from the knee down, done a full back piece, and a half sleeve on my arm. Now working on the other arm. I was in a job for years that would not allow it. I'm 51 now and feel the need to get all my ideas on skin quick.

I think that's crap. I am freckled and you can't see a lick of freckle or skin under my tattoo.

Chris seems the most talented, but I prefer the ones that just try to make great tattoos.

Not that every tattoo in the new season was a gem, but it's the best field they've had since the first season. The last couple of seasons, people were still getting awful tattoos right up until the end.
The funniest part was the guy that walked off and wouldn't get a tattoo. He said he has limited space. I'm sitting there thinking, "You have limited space so you go on a show to get a tattoo from someone you don't know, have never heard of, in episode one where all the worst tattooers are still on?" Not exactly a rocket scientist.

I can't speak to the quality of the information on this site, but I've certainly enjoyed reading through it (and I think first discovered it through this forum)

I can absouletly agree that pointing out technical errors (or just bad tattoos in general) is a positive aspect of the show. I guarentee there were a lot of people watching the show that didnt realize that fu dog was pretty damn terrible until after it was pointed out.
This also goes into my theory alot of people look at tattoos as tattoos and dont actaully look at the picture. These are the same people that dont understand why people pay top dollar for good tattoos when their buddy does them for 20 bucks and a pack of smokes. Once people see the errors on the show they might be more tuned in when picking out an artist.
