This is true. My mate, it's now been 6 years. We have become such close friends that we have acknowledged it will never end.
I only have a little fill to complete back of neck (this w end), some colour fill on the butt cheek & upper thigh. Now only the feet to design and fill.
Our regular visits will continue, our Sunday morning cider and beer tasting sessions, the presence of like minded people going through the same experience of suiting out...and by going on your advice @SeeSea, we can still enjoy doing some relining, punching some more black over black for good times.
For me, it's not the end, just a new chapter in a lifelong friendship.

Speaking of Cider Mumma, been punching pints of cider for breakfast with me ol' mate today. If ya wanna try some real horrible cider, try a flagon of Westons Old Rosies.
It's flat, it has floaties, it looks like cats piss, it tastes like cats piss..but at neary 8% it's faaarkin moorish.
If this shit doesn't help with ya gettin' ya tits out, nothing will :)

@9Years. I was the opposite. I found the ribs, and both solid panels to heal extremely fast, no discomfort at all and all just flake heal within the week. They healed so fast and easy we were trying to work out as to why. We just put it down to blood flow/ organs etc. Nothing to back that theory up of course, just a drinking edumacated guess.
The application though, there was areas that were real tough for me, drilling into the floating rib area, carving between the ribs, man oh fkn man...it took everything I had to maintain composure. They fucked me out both physically and mentally.
Ya just won't know mate until your lying under that machine, on the day. But as @9Years mentioned, prepare yourself for it mentally, that's the key.
I've made the mistake in the past walking into sessions thinking ...walk in the park. I've learned to always treat every session with the respect they deserve.

Me mate just returned from 12 months in Canada. Home for a week, back on a Road King, today was catch up belting through the hills, across to the Coast, smashing fuck out of gears, riding hard, tight side by side. Yeah, still buzzing.

A few years ago, I got back into getting tattooed, and really wanted to have my arms re sleeved.
When I first sat down with old mate, we discussed new tattoos, and we continued along this path for 12 months before I hinted at him re sleeving my old work.
He knew it was coming, and because of the extension of work we were doing, he then knew it was something that had to be done.
I knew how difficult this was going to be for him, and he was honest...& said, if I had 1st walked in wanting my arms redone, he would have turned me away.
But..everyone is different where a different approach is needed I guess.
I knew the kind of person I was dealing with initially and just knew a certain type of etiquette and respect was required 1st.

You'll find you will be judged on your professionalism @TrixieFaux rather than your tattoos. I completely understand the testing of waters though.
I had a Nurse Unit Manager say to me the other day....the staff love it when you come on to the Wards Mick. Now they know you and have attended your training, they're no longer scared, they think it's cool when you bounce the Wards, talk and laugh with them and just be yourself.
On the flip but, I pick my kids up from the extra curricular activities from school rockin jeans and singlets, all the parents avoid me like I'm the plague. Until recently, a couple of them started striking conversations and shit. One mother asked me last week...so Mick, what is it you do for work. I said...oh, I work for the Qld Govt, look after mandatory compliance to assist in National accreditation reviews for 5 major Metro Hospitals. The look on their dials were like pure shock. I love that shit. Yeah, not just some no hoping, tattooed Harley riding thug you envisioned hey. I love educating the straights that we might have a brain too.

Agree with all of the above. When a person decides they're going to be that closed off and judge solely on the overall appearance, design and craftsmanship, ya right doesn't weigh in as a factor.
Mind you, to a point but, I think we're all still quite conscious that what we may drill onto our hands and neck has to be very particular as opposed to what we may choose for placement in an area that can be covered when we choose yeah?
Like, I love old time wizardry symbolism as much as I might love a deaths head design. Not that the deaths head is an exact representation of a certain political belief, believe me, it ain't that deep for me, although, placement I think is important because we're all right on one level here, the GP or PC brigade can't fathom why to begin with, so that narrow minded perception is going to be quite relevant to a point. So, I would choose quite particularly that the wizard slams the neck pipe, the Deaths Head somewhere a little more private. In a fucked up, early morning kind of way, I think I get what @DJDeepFried is saying here.
Anyway, fuck this. I'm skipping work today. It's Spring, a slight N Wester is breezing, and I'm chasing the wind today with some brothers. The wind in our face, sun on our backs, chasing a dream...that should be in the awesome thread
