The shop is in the basement of a house. It's first come first serve. You wait in line, put your name on the board and go walk around to kill time. One by one the names get knocked off the list. If you are not there you lose your spot. He opens at four. I think they got there a few hours early and dudes were already waiting.

Not sure where else to put this, but since most of the board's parents probably check this thread, I figure it's as good a place as any. I was talking to our 2.5 year old daughter the other night. Here's our conversation:
said, "You know, when Daddy was little, he had curly blond hair just like yours." She said, "And you had little hands."
"That's right! I did have little hands."
"And you had toes and feet, too, Daddy."
"Right, and I still have toes and feet. They're just bigger. And when you grow up, you'll have bigger toes and feet."
Then she replied, "And tattoos!"
I laughed and asked what her tattoos will be.
"Skulls! And animals."
"What kind of animals?"
"A donkey! And a turkey. And skeletons!"
It was a proud moment. But donkeys and turkeys?

I thought I'd start this thread along the same sort of vein as tattooer's deserving some recognition ,except more like shedding some light on the classics.So i'll kick this off with one of my all time favorites,N.Y.C's finest -Tony Polito

I feel as though it was subliminal for me to check out this thread. Talk of squat and dead lifting nary sneaks under my radar. I take it one of you is crossfit and the other is a powerlifter? I share your enthusiasm for dot and spider fillers as well as barbell antics.
I really like the look of fillers, it brings it all together and just makes it look complete.

If you think I'm a powerlifter, than I can only assume you haven't looked at my gallery. :)

not me, but Reina cartwright,charlie's daughter and I put 2 tattoos on opposite arms of a walk in one day. I jokingly said " you wan'em at the same time " and he said "alright" so I said "come on Reina" it was pretty funny , he was an ol' man. a merchant marine as I remember.

Aaand I just backtracked and realized you too had gone with a little spidey filler hahaha

I'd be lying if I said those few little spider fillers didn't cross my mind when I thought about that spot!

This is circus strongman/tattooed man Rasmus Neilsen; aka the Tattooed Wonderman or Tough Titty.
He directly influenced my mentor Jack; and by default me. You can see the Pharaoh's Horses on his chest but the rest is harder to make out.
The photo was taken in 1948 by a very young Stanley Kubrick. They're selling prints for $250.... I might have to buy one!

Haha, you bastard. Let me point out that 1) we're in different weight classes and 2) I can eat way more carbs than you, ya paleotard. ;)

My dude's arm, all starred and dotted. I think it looks good on just about anyone. It's very very very important to get someone who knows what they are doing and to do your whole arm at once. If you don't you'll end up with different sized stars which can look stupid. I'd recommend finding someone from Inksmith and Rogers or Smith St.

These are my arms with no filler, that will soon be remedied once I get my one elbow and my wrists done.

Both of us also have small things thrown in with the filler, like initials, numbers, little designs. I much prefer stars and dots to shading. To me shading just looks lazy almost. Or like the client wanted a bigger space filled but didn't have the money to make the tattoo larger.

Is there a section for tattooers only for info like this.
another pet peeve is clients that are no it alls.
They don't need to know what we use or where we get it from. As long as they are happy with the results.

First sitting today. The secret to getting through it was cherry and strawberry Starburst. I think they made it hurt less...
