  1. Anyone watching the new Ink Master, sorry if there was a previous thread I couldn't find it. They're tattooing pigs right now and the work is looking pretty good, I'm just not a fan of them having a time limit.
  2. Our prayers have been heard ladies and gentlemen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZGON1G45A8 Tattoo Age -- Trailer - Tattoo Age | VBS.TV
  3. Since the Random Pictures thread is such a hit I figured we could start one just for Funny Videos.
  4. Been jammin this lately.
  5. I was just reading Sboyer's response in the thread What tattoo designs can you never see enough of? and realized we have no Rock of Ages thread so here we go... I remember when I fell in love with this tattoo design while working at Juxtapoz and we had just printed the Jason Mcafee Rock of Ages poster and just being amazed. For some reason that poster really sticks out in my mind. I tried to locate a picture of it for here but can't find it so if you have one please post. While trying to find the image I did locate this video of Freddy Corbin at Temple Tattoo doing a Rock of Ages. It says it was done four years ago but guessing it has to be older as Scott Sylvia is shown in the background tattooing there as well??? It was posted by a user named xhooliganx and I know we have a user on our tattoo forum by that name as well so if it is the same, thanks. Since the video is labeled part one is there a second one that shows the tattoo or do you have a picutres? Part One Here are some other threads with Rock of Ages talk and/or pictures: Was tattooing as popular 100 years ago as now? What's your favorite tattoo on your body? Full Back Tattoo Designs Religious and Spiritual Tattoo Designs Fastest Tattooers New Tattoo Idea, Rock of Ages Lets hear and see them......
  6. Truthfully, what types of tattoos do you get asked to do the you dread doing? Do you do them, or do you just say "I don't do that?"
  7. I know many of you are film lovers but there doesn't seem to be a thread about tattoos in films....I decided to start with my favourite from 'Eastern Promises' (this picture doesn't include stars on each knee that he had in the film, as far as I remember) I don't think people realize that most tattoos you see in the cinema are the work of theatrical make-up artists....I think they've made a good job on Viggo and those tattoos are also very important to the film plot as we realize that we are dealing with real Russian mafia, not some plain criminal...and that there is some tragic history behind each of those marks.... Anyone has a favourite tattoo from a film? Or maybe an opinion on how tattoos are represented by the movie industry? And why is there so much TRIBAL?? In the era of HD TV and digital cameras the excuse that some tattoos don't film well and it's best to use bold black designs is no longer enough to justify all those designs!
  8. Look what I just stumbled over! FST: On the Shoulders of Giants is a documentary film, currently in production by Stewart Robson, a tattooer at Frith Street Tattoo (FST) in London. This project is expected to be completed in late 2013. Shooting started in August 2012. Stewart has interviewed his friends and colleagues, some of them world-renown in tattoo circles but all of them have worked in the cramped infamous basement shop in the heart of London’s seedy soho district, to share this portrait of one of the most interesting, vibrant and influential modern tattoo shops. FST: On the Shoulders of Giants There's a bunch on cool teasers from the different interviews on the blog too. I'm super stoked for this to come out! You gotta share stuff like this with us @Stewart Robson - - - Updated - - - This was great by the way! (Also by Stewart)
  9. I figured most of us are movie snobs and nerds, so we should have a thread. First up is the movie "Take Shelter". Its directed by Jeff Nichols (Brother to Ben Nichols of Lucero.) Here is the trailer for your enjoyment. Looks promising, and its a pretty interesting concept. http://sundance.slated.com/2011/films/takeshelter_sundance2011
  10. I've been reading through all of the threads and everything that people have been posting and i havent stumbled upon anything that talks about what artists like to see when it comes to good client behavior. i am a new tattoo collector and before actually visiting a shop for the first time all i knew was what i saw on tv from the reality shows like Miami or LA ink. so i like to hear from anyone on what they like to see when it comes to well behaved clients. ( walk ins, consultations, day of the appointment) i did see that "customer from hell" post and even though it was sooo funny, i felt so bad for the dude in the blue flame shirt
  11. Hello, I'm probably going to get in trouble for starting three threads in one day on LST, but thinks this will be the one that I will be posting continuously on for quite a while. My major pet peeve on the internet is finding great performances, nearly all musical ones, that were filmed live. I love impromptu moments, unpolished, unedited (mostly) LIVE performances where great crafts people (singers, musicians, etc.) create something truly startling. The only way I know that I am seeing such a performance is that it fills me up with joy. Anyhow, hopes other people know of similar performances that they would want to share. To Start, B.B. King performing LIVE in SING-SING Prison, 1972
  12. Marcus Kuhn's - The Gypsy Gentleman Here is a new thing that Marcus Kuhn has put together. It should be pretty cool.
  13. wondering who else has seen this? watched it several times on youtube. think it is a really good example of skilled tattooers talking intelligently about the craft and their opinions on tattooing as far as where it was, where it is, and where it is going.
  14. Hadn't seen a thread for this?.. saw the page yesterday on facebook, can't wait to see it - https://www.facebook.com/TattooNationMovie "New Feature Documentary Film, Coming October 2012 Tattoos used to be a sign of rebellion. A middle finger salute to the rest of the world. Outlaw bikers got tattoos. Sailors on leave in Singapore got tattoos. Lifers in the joint got tattoos. Now, your mother’s got a butterfly on her ankle and your kid’s sporting a tramp stamp. What happened? How did tattoos go from the renegade, readymade, carney cartoons inked as fast as possible to the art form they’ve become today? That transformation is the subject of the new documentary film, TATTOO NATION. TATTOO NATION tells how a few incarcerated but very talented Chicano artists changed the world of ink forever. It follows three tattoo pioneers, Charlie Cartwright, Jack Rudy and Freddy Negrete, and shows how a new, fine line style using detail and shading to achieve a remarkable realism revolutionized the world of ink. In 1975, Cartwright and Rudy boldly opened the first tattoo parlor in the heart of East LA’s Chicano community. They hired a recently paroled teenager who, while in jail, unknowingly established iconic images that spoke to an entire generation of Chicanos. Freddy Negrete became the first professional Chicano artist employed by a mainstream tattoo parlor - a tattoo parlor that was embraced as a new vehicle for self-expression by the Chicano community in East Los Angeles. For the first time, these legendary figures tell their stories in a feature-length documentary film. Included are other important figures such as David Oropeza and “Chuco” Caballero, winners of many prestigious tattoo competitions. Their victories brought international recognition to the uniquely American approach known as “Black & Grey”. The world of tattoo, and the way we regard tattoo, was forever changed."
  15. One of the other community sites I frequent (Skullbrain.org- Japanese & Kaiju toy community) has a Netflix thread where we comb through the massive amounts of crap NF has to offer and try to pull out the rare gems. Here's my list of must see stuff that's currently available for streaming: 1. Burden of Dreams. Docu on the filming of Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo. 2. I think we're alone now. Docu on two people who could be considered stalkers of teen icon Tiffany. 3. Plain Clothes. I watched this so many times as a kid that the tape broke. 80s "young looking cop returns to high school" film. 4. No Reservations. Any season. Viva Anthony Bourdain. 5. Cruising. Al Pacino goes undercover in NYC's Gay Leather underground to find a serial killer. 6. Dogtooth. Greek film. Very unsettling. Couldn't believe they nominated this for an oscar. What's on your list?
  16. Did anyone catch the season finale of Breaking Bad? It is by far the best show on TV and the close-out of the season was awesome. If you haven't seen it at all, the first 3 seasons are on NETFLIX. Highly recommend checking it out it will not disappoint.
  17. dari

    Walking Dead

Is there another thread on the Walking Dead series, and I'm just missing it? Because this show is the best show on TV right now. Clay sucks, but he won't eat your brains. Is anyone else making preparations for a Zombie Apocalypse? (besides Jeff Cribb, I mean.)
  18. The tattoo isn't even poorly done, and it doesn't look like he has any other work. Strange that you would get a tattoo of that size (which obviously required multiple sittings) and then regret it enough to laser it.
  19. I just posted my anti-tattoo school idea on my blog Devil City Press Maybe you guys could tell me what you think and even jump in. I don't know Ami but I know there's lots of people out there who do. I think he needs to feel some heat and stand up for what's right. He's cashed in handsomely on tattooing and I feel like he owes a debt to the industry now in it's time of need. He needs to tell TLC that this show is wrong. They don't understand why it's wrong and they're not going to listen to us. Anyone who values tattooing that's getting a paycheck from TLC should be speaking up right now.
  20. What shows do you watch regularly on TV and/or Netflix? For me it is Criminal Minds, Dexter, Modern Family, and Iron Chef. What are yours?????
  21. So I was poking around on Instagram and saw that Henry Lewis was posting a bunch of funny pics of people as Futurama characters, low and behold I found the app for Iphone and started making some of my own. I did my close friends, family, guys at the shop, then the thought occurred me to make some of my favorite tattooers into Futurama characters. So I will start with the attached guys from Chicago Tattoo Company. I know that some of them aren't the best, but it is an app so there are only so many choices, but thought it would be fun to see how many of these we could do. I would advise that any one of these I make is for pure fun, and I would never create something that I wouldn't be willing to show the person in question in person. Let the games begin.
  22. If you can make it to 1:54 you will see the greatest stage dive of all time. If not, you have heard what is quite possibly the worst music of all time leading up to that point.
  23. Ok, so I saw this last night on tv... Has anyone seen the show "bar rescue" ? It's a show about failing bars and some industry expert comes and shows them what's wrong and saves there business. So, if you haven't guessed by the name of the thread... The sane net work that presents bar rescue is gonna bring us the cesspool they will be calling "tattoo rescue". I think this show has promise, and by promise I mean, making me laugh my ass off in disbelief and disgust. Has anyone else seen the comin attractions to this show? I really do think it's go na be awesomely terrible and it has to have all these other shows beat by a mile
  24. Someone just posted this on Facebook and I figured some of y'all might enjoy it. This Man Is Terrified of Puppies From the article " In Animal Planet's "My Extreme Animal Phobia," badass muscular Marvin, adorned with tattooed sleeves and ink on his face and neck, breaks down into tears at the sight of puppies ."
