What a pain in the ass!

I started working on my ass yesterday! Tattoo I mean. I’m working on a body suit and that pasty white ass was really bugging me so I decided to get that tattooed too. I told my artist he could do whatever he wanted, which has always worked out well. My wife said, “ You told him he could do whatever he wanted with your ass?” It’s not as creepy as it sounds.🤔 it didn’t hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would. A little tender around the crack, but not unbearable. He did the outline yesterday, we’re going to color in two sessions, depending on how well I sit.

  14. 3 hours is a real sweet spot for me too. No need to go much longer. Props to those who can continually do the marathon sessions. I like to look forward to my session each month, not dread it 😂.

  15. My back piece took about 18 months. About one session a month. Sometimes two, sometimes skip. 3 hours per session. It was worth it.

  16. Slowly but surely! Realizing now the mindfuck that is a full backpiece. About 15 hours in and not even close to halfway there. Enjoying the process!

    Black vs colour!

I prefer colored tattoos. I don't think they're as durable though

  21. just keep it clean with anti-bacterial soap and keep the lotion on it a few times a day, it will heal. you could also try a light coat of https://www.walmart.com/ip/Palmer-s-Cocoa-Butter-Original-Solid-Formula-7-25-oz/602195518?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1150

  22. It's just waves and windbars and cherry blossoms. We talked about a bunch of ideas, but there really isn't a whole lot of space and we have so much going on it would probably have been too busy with more images. My back piece is my avatar, I have a tiger and a meditating samurai and koi on one leg and a female samurai riding a tiger along with a snake and skull on the other leg so I was OK with keeping it simple.

  23. Just wanted to share some new flash I got yesterday, my favorite tattoo shop was running a Friday the 13th promotion and I decided to go for it! Getting custom drawn flash is so much fun. you can really tell how much the artists love each one of their drawings and I am always proud to wear the best of their work. Tattoos like this make me very happy 😊 This one was done by Max at Pretty Sturdy Tattoo in Denver. He has tattooed me before, I love his work. Really all the artists at the shop are amazing- the shop is covered floor to ceiling in all their flash paintings and it’s just really cool. I’m pretty sure my whole arm will be covered in their tattoos eventually. This pic is from last night right after I cleaned it up and put my first saniderm dressing on it. I bled a lot more than I usually do with this one, but maybe it was just a tender spot. Today it looks pretty gnarly but it has calmed down quite a bit and doesn’t sting as much. We are well on the way to a smooth healing process

    The ladies thread

Thanks! I'm amused by the colour progression in the bruising today. It's not sore, but looks like it definitely should be! I have also inquired about a couple specific dates for my elbow, as I've realised I'll be in town for some professional development. Will see if it's enough time or if I just have to wait for a Saturday to come free. Been looking at more aquatic themed ideas for the elbow. Otherwise it will be a flower.

  25. So Kyle had a cancellation at 2pm.... ended up going in for an impromptu elbow ditch pearl in a clam shell! from stencil to walking out, 1hr total! I expected it to be horrible but it was actually fine. I just can't bend real well well at the moment 🤣

  26. Even if it hurts, it's a small body part, so it doesn't take a long time to tattoo.

  27. You won't get a refund. I hope you find a tattoo artist who can fix it for you.

  28. True. Different people react differently. I hear how bad the back is, but I almost fell asleep several times when I had my back done.

    Heavy scabbing

That looks really overworked to me. Just give it a couple of months. If will probably heal fine. I don’t think I’d go back though,

  32. That skeleton hand holding a candle tattoo is really cool. I was thinking of getting something similar on my chest. Then when I wear a t-shirt, you'd only see the flame sticking out. Think it would be a fun subtle tattoo!

  33. I don't know how well that will hold up, especially if you don't find an artist that has serious skills. I would try to make that less ... busy? There's just too much happening. Way too much.

    Tattoo update!

Good idea. If there is an issue, you can always get it touched up. Have a drink, or your favorite unprescribed pharmaceutical and relax.

so, keep it clean, put a little Aveeno on it a couple times a day, and look at it again when it's healed in 6 weeks. It looks fine, don't scratch it or pick scabs.

  38. I've been told my the artists when getting a new tattoo or a touch up, and it usually takes two weeks to heal. So like they say experiences may vary
    2 points
  39. yes it is,let it heal for a couple months, the scabbing and milky look will go away. don't pick at it, put on a light coat of Aveeno a couple times a day. it will be fine.

  41. White ink didn’t hurt me more than any other, but my skin is really pale and it looked like I hadn’t been tattooed at all. It was the kimono of my Japanese warrior and my artist wound up redoing it in pale green. No more white ink for me.

  42. Hey everyone, long time lurker here. Reading through this thread has always been really informative (and fear inducing) but now I'm midway through my own backpiece and figured I'd drop in a progress report. I'm getting it done by Jacob Redmond at Fourth Street Tattoo. We're roughly 20 hours in so far. The pain is no joke, but it was definitely front heavy with the linework. Shading overall has been bearable. Next sessions should be a fun one, we'll be filling in that buttcrack and starting on the scales. 😬 The pressure is on to choose a color and I'm still waffling a lot. I love the classic look of black scales red belly, but something about this design says blue dragon to me. What do you all think?

    My First Tat?

Hi. Female here. Don't get a cliche tattoo in Vegas if you are worried about the pain. Also, calling people names? Grow the F*** up. Byeeeeeee.

  47. it's skin. Not paper. Of course it moves. Just get more tattoos.

  48. @Mattwall92 Not trying to be harsh, but I think you have unrealistic expectations. Your skin twists and stretches as you move. Of course the image will be affected. Enjoy your tattoo. Get more.

  50. Just wear that bikini top and trust me, no one is looking at the tattoo. If they do see it, they'll think it looks fine.
