ThaliaCamille reacted to Duffa in Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Good morning LST  I just got back from Japan and I'm well and truly jet lagged, but before I crash for a few hours before work this evening, figured I should share this...
I'll post the blog I promised later ;) Duffa must sleep now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (seriously need to, I'm talking in third person lol)

ThaliaCamille reacted to dari in The Swastika symbol in tattoos
I don't have time to read this whole thread, although I am glad that it's been brought up on LST.
My two cents: I 100% understand that symbol was around and used in several cultures long way before that delusional psychopathic meth head chose it to represent himself and the drugged up soldiers fighting his Blitzkrieg. I understand that it has a powerful meaning, completely unrelated to death squads, extermination camps, gas chambers, mass graves or burning emaciated bodies, but that's what it means to me. No matter how nice the tattoo or painting, even when I want to see past it, it's there for me. Jondix had drawn some beautiful designs incorporation the symbol for my husband, who had the courtesy to ask first, and I had to say no, too much baggage for me. But if it means something completely different for you, go for it. I don't care what the rest of you do with your bodies, but I just can't have it in my own house.

Basically, what Rich said.
If you had any integrity as a tattoo artist you wouldn't be doing stuff like that, even if they want it.
If you're that good of an artist you shouldn't be worried about loosing the $200 or whatever she spent on it.
So yes, @Kevin Campbell, if I was you I would have turned her down and let the shop next door do it. And no, I don't know you and you don't know me, but even if it was someone I knew who did it, I'd feel the same way. My fiancé is a tattoo artist at a very respected shop and if he had done it, I'd feel the same way.
What I meant about making the rest of us look bad is - when people who don't know anything about tattooing or being tattooed see that tattoo and hear the supposed story of her being high they will assume that this is a normal thing and that tattoo artists don't care about their clients health and safety and that people are out there just tattooing horrible things on intoxicated people with no regard to that person's life. I feel like that's the type of thing that makes people scared about going to their local shop, thinking it's going to just be a bunch of idiots with face tattoos, drunk and high putting permanent marks on people. It reminds me in a way of that girl who had all the stars tattooed on her face and then when she realized how bad of an idea it was she tried to blame the tattooer which turned into a story about how tattooers will put thing on people who are passed out without them asking for it. It just seems like there's so much negative press about tattoos that adding to that pile just further hurts the industry.

ThaliaCamille got a reaction from Gregor in What's your longest tattoo session?
Set a new personal best last session. 4 and a half hours, and I could've kept going (stopped because I ran out of money). Lidocaine is a hell of a drug.

ThaliaCamille reacted to Iwar in What´s (almost) more fun than getting a new tattoo?
Buying a king size print from one of your favorite artists, getting it framed properly, hanging it on your wall and taking two steps back.
I´ve been staring at the original hanging by Marius´ station for hours while getting tattooed, so when he decided to make giclee prints of it I had to rape my wallet and buy one.
Stoked!

Not sure if this has been posted already.
Images are pretty small, but these look better than expected. Wish I knew how old the guy was in the last photo.

Kinda has a Grime/Todd Noble vibe to it. I love this.

ThaliaCamille got a reaction from Patriot Ink Tattoo in Yellow
Forgive me if this is something that's been covered in other threads (did a quick search, didn't yield anything quite so specific).
I'm interested in getting this somewhere (just the bottle, it's a Resurrection Phial from the game Fable, thinking of putting it on the sternum where you press for CPR ;) )
Now, I can see this being stylised pretty easily, I've even had a couple of goes drawing it myself. Main thing I'm curious about is how well yellow/gold will heal and age, and what sort of changes would need to be made to the design in order to use this colour scheme.
I've done a heap of Googling for pieces with a lot of yellow, but of course most of what you find is photos of fresh work. Just looking for anyone with tattoos of a similar colour scheme, who can provide some insight into how it looks after it's healed, or any advice on what would make this possible (or if it's a stupid idea altogether!).
I think I know of a couple of local artists who would be able to do it, just thought I'd get informed before going ahead.

ThaliaCamille got a reaction from Duffa in Areas of your body you WON'T tattoo
I'll never tattoo my left elbow ditch.
I have blood taken frequently, usually from my right arm (I'm left handed), but since getting tattooed in the ditch they've refused to draw from my right arm. So I'm gonna leave a nice little space.
Everything else is fair game (if I'm in the right position to get hands etc. in regards to work). Although I don't see much point in tattooing my snatch... it's just not as comical as cock tattoos.

ThaliaCamille got a reaction from tattoodgirlwithocd in Last time you got tattooed? (THE ITCH)
The longest time between tattoos for me was about a year and a half (not including the 18 years when I was underage).
The last time was 4 days ago. Session 4 of a sleeve that still isn't finished. The itch for me right now is literal.

My personal preference is the more Polynesian influenced designs ,to me they seem more deeper rooted and likely to stand the test of time .Some of the new stuff ,although amazing is a little tripped out for me.Check out Chris Higgins at IN2U also and our fearless leader Scott has a cool pic of a chest piece .

Here is the second session on my back piece:
Panther vs Tiger – Stewart Robson
6 hours in and I can't believe how much has been done. Even though Stewart has done my entire front torso I'm still amazed at how quick he tattoos. Also on a side note, not being up for 30 hours before getting tattooed helped a lot. So glad I managed to sleep before this session.
