Dammit! It's impossible not to be trendy, just got an outline on my solar plexus/bottom ribs. Guess I should've kept with my original idea, microscopic text in the shape of a robot behind my ear.

i was 15 one of my buddies was going to get tattooed by dragon mike in houston texas and my other friend was getting tattooed by richard stell at scorpion studios which was across the street at the time around '91/'92 and i tagged along all i really remember is how terrified i was of richard after he tossed me out for drawing in the shop and mimicking the designs on the wall. i was 15 and didnt realize what a faux pah that was. also richard was a much bigger and orney looking dude then than now if you can imagine.i still came back and hung out almost daily with my buddies but i hung in the back scared of richard. that impression stuck with me so even as a grown man in my 30's id see richard at conventions and was afraid to approach him til the san jose convention 3 years ago where i walked up and introduced my self and he remebered i believe because the first thing he said after i told him my name and that used to hang out in his shop was "oh yeah, didnt i throw you the F%@$ out?" then i got tattooed by him and he was the nicest guy and very quick witted so then i felt pretty silly for being afraid of him for all those years. ha

I think it was 1989 or 90. Typical biker shop. My folks got my brother and I tattoos as a present for graduating high school early. Two fresh faced kids and a bunch of dudes in denim vests and colors. Yeah. I fit RIGHT in. I remember that the artist wore gloves but not shoes. Hahah.
The smell of green soap brings me back every time though. if they could make a cologne out of it, I'd probably wear it.

I hope I am not the only one who does stupid stuff and gets hurt. Not intentional stuff like you would see on Jackass where you KNOW they will get hurt, I am talking like random everyday stuff.
Here is my story of the day.
I am doing a little construction job for a friend of my mother-inlaw. So I went to Home depot this morning bought all the materials I would need, paid and went to the car to put it all in so I could get to their house and start working. Well to make the drywall fit into the car I needed to cut it in half, length wise so I could keep the 8 foot length of the drywall. So I marked it where I needed to cut it, put the pencil in my mouth because I was going to need to use it again for the next piece. So I scored the drywall, picked up the piece so I could flip it over and snap it in two. As I was in the process of flipping it over did I not hit the pencil that was in my mouth with the board and jam the pencil into my gums snapping off the tip . . . . I am all right and think I got out most of the pencil graphite out, but man was that stupid of me LOL Digging at my gums till I feel the jaw bone is not what I would call fun. I wonder it will be a canker in the morning??
Please tell me I am not the only one that does this kind of crap.

Tammy, when camping this past week, we threw about 25 potatoes wrapped in foil into the fire a wood burning stove. An hour later, I ate 3 or 4 of them. There were maybe 20 other things I could've eaten, but the fire baked potatoes were addicitive.

i recently convinced my friends to get "RAMA LAMA" and "DING DONG" tattooed across their knuckles. i just love the idea of my buddy running around solo with DING DONG tattooed across his fists.

I agree with Shawn, anything that pop icons get always ends up being the next 'shop walk-in'. I must have made 25 sets of sparrows on the chest/shoulders after that Mark McGrath guy showed off his on their music video. As far new popular tattoos between the inner circle of tattooers goes, who knows. I'll defintely keep my eyes on those bad-ass elite trend-setters, and hopefully pick up on a few things to steal with my iPhone camera over their shoulders.

I'm hoping 2011 is the year this image finally goes away.

So I'm pretty much a packrat. And I have 1000s of hours of VHS video in various rubber maids around my house. Some commercially produced stuff. Some literally one of a kind transfers of old 8mm films that were left to me when older friends passed away.
I found out last night that my "dazzle" video hub doesn't work with a mac, so I put an order in for a Apple compatible device. Soon I'll be transcoding old films to digital.
I'll try to remember to post links to anything I put on youtube here, though some of the footage (Cliff Raven tattooing naked) may not be everyone's cup of tea so I'll use discretion.
First up is some NON naked Raven, some classic Realistic Tattoo stuff with Hardy, Irons, Salmon, Zulueta and the gang. Just have to wait for the hardware to arrive!

For me it's the 90lb 18yr old kid who wants this huge detailed tattoo down his ribs, I say, "Man thats a big tattoo for your first one, you sure you can hang"? I proceed to tell him that maybe he should get it somewhere more tolerable. He says, "Aww yea man, I aint no punk"! So I say, "Ok Skeeter, lets go". In the first 2 minutes he pours sweat to the point the stencil is almost gone, so I draw it back on, do a few more lines and he says, "Man I don't know....can I come back later to finish this outline"?

It doesn't happen that much in San Francisco and Oakland, and I'm pretty good at blocking it out when it happens to me, but it seems to bug me more when it happens to my girlfriends. Once while hiking in Bryce Canyon in Utah, my friend Liz was accosted so many times, including complete strangers grabbing at her arms, that we almost turned back. Another time, at a restaurant in Vegas, an entire table full of men had turned their chairs and were not trying to hide, at all, the fact that they were staring at my friend's tattoos. I was talked out of going over to speak with them. In both situations, I believe it was their mostly covered arms that were what were drawing them in.
Another time, I was eating at the bar in a restaurant with a girlfriend who has a strong chest piece of irises. An older man came by and Asked "Can I ask you a question?" She freaked, "No you can't, I'm trying to eat my meal, get the fuck away from us..." I though her reaction was a little strong at the time, now I understand where she was coming from. He sure as hell wasn't going to ask any men about their chest pieces.
