Probably my favorite right now is Steve Byrne, I'm always amazed at his creativity, crazy colors, and super bold lines. I have nothing by him...yet.
And I guess I can post this here too. I got this Cap Coleman dragon design last night by Wes Garvick in York, PA. I've wanted a dragon for a while now and Cap does some of my favorites.

@devious6 Condolences. I lost my mom to a very unexpected cancer about five years ago. The administrivia of a person's death is the nastiest part. May the paperwork subside so you can process the grief.

@Gingerninja If it is, it is. If all I do is dispell some mystery, I'm good too.
@Dan That would be cool, but I won't hold my breath.

I just joined the forum, have been professionally tattooing since 2002 and currently work in Green Bay, WI at Artrageous Ink. Just wanted to say a quick hello to all. I am the shop manager at Artrageous Ink in Green Bay, WI and we are currently seeking to fill a full time artist position. We are looking to add someone strong with black/grey & realism to fill a vacancy from an artist that recently moved. We have been in the same location from over 20 years. We are a mostly custom shop but have a heavy walk-in customer base as well.  If you are interested please contact me through email at: [email protected]

Here's a little party shark I got from Scott Sylvia recently. I meant to post healed pictures but it's a difficult area of my arm to photograph. Thanks for looking! starting the left sleeve next.

Ongoing piece. When it's done it will start at my ankle and connect to my chest piece. It's a tiger and samurai on my leg and dragon on my ribs/stomach. Just outline and shading so far on the dragon. We decided to work our way up.

@Gingerninja - solid advice there. Lynn and I follow the same guidelines. Sometimes, your priorities and likes don't match up. Knowing not to push is crucial to a strong and stable relationship.

No at all but try to make sure her energy is good! Don't put any pressure on her and don't get in a fight about it.
Give her a true, loving option to opt out. Like no harm, no foul, it's-all-good-option. If she doesn't take the out, then she needs to be love and good energy to your appointment.  @sipes23
I do this all the time with my hubby when there's something that I want to do (and love) doesn't match up with his headspace. Be kind, compassionate and honest about what you'd like to share with her. If it's a good match, great. If not, accept it graciously and move on. My two cents.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
I don't have specific restriction for the tattoo, locations and things like that but I would like it to be somehow visible for me atleast ( the meaning of it is pretty motivational xD ). I do however want a design like that ( the shape(s) is what mostly matters ). If you are interested in the origins of it google : "Digimon crests". Feel free to let your imagination run wild tho :). As for a second tattoo I didn't think about that a lot, will probably happen when there is again something really meaningful to me that I want to paint on myself, so no need to worry too much about that.

@Tornado7 Interestingly enough, I was actually born in 1996 xD
@sipes23  I live in a rather small city ( around 500k people ) and it's the biggest city around here. I will choose an artist that I trust but there aren't many around :(

For your consideration - a classic "Mom" heart and banner, a classic horseshoe w/ a "Dad" banner. One on each side of the body. upper arms or wrists (not upsidedown!).

Hey, my name is Roby. I'm 20 years old and for a few years now thinking about getting my first tattoo. Finally decided that it is time that I do the proper research for it so here I am :)
In terms of design, I am thinking something alike the following image.

From the picture only the outline matters, not the colours. It is basically a combination of the following:

They both have huge emotional meaning for me personally as they do represent an important part of my childhood. In big lines, the first one represents courage and the second one friendship. Initially, I've only thought about getting the first one ( the sun ) but later I found a combination of the two.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Where should I place it? I know I want someplace visible for me yet not sure where. As for my build, I'm a tall fit (gymnastics like body ) guy, in his early 20s. Thinking inner forearm but not sure.
    2. What suggestions do you have about the design? All ideas are welcome :)

Welcome. Let me ask you this...how big are you thinking? Do you have any restrictions for showing tattoos? These are simplistic designs, so I think going bold would be my first thought. The other thing to consider is how well would this design flow into and/or incorporate with your next tattoo? :)

thanks for the mention @ibradley, i think if you want to make traditional tattoos, you should reference older tattoo flash.  for me it gets a little boring to just repaint the older images, though there is nothing wrong with that.  i have been applying the brion gysin/william burroughs technique of cut-ups to try to make something new, while staying very rooted in traditional tattoos.  there is a great book called Milton Zeis: Tattooing As You Like it that you should check out if you haven't already.  I'm including a picture of some of my latest flash, just to give you something to look at.

    Hi,
I've been lurking around these forums for a few days, and have enjoyed all of the advice and inspiration that you all give here. I have two tattoos. The first was done 13 years ago, and is my brother's name in Japanese on my right forearm. I was really ignorant when it came to tattoos, and so I ended up with a pretty bad tattoo. My second tattoo is a Sanskrit word for non-violence, Ahimsa, that sits on my right chest. I'm stoked to continue collecting tattoos! As of now, I have found a few great artists here in San Diego that I like, and will eventually do a Japanese style sleeve on my left arm, and a traditional sleeve on my right. I do have a question but I'll leave that for my next post. Thanks all!

Thought I'd share. FYI... These are completely unedited. Sorry.  Not sorry.  Enjoi

I got this little tiny one for Friday the 13th. I was there early (first) because I had the day off, and it is my regular shop. I was texting with my artist the whole time before they opened and waited at the door. There was a short line, but I was there first, so it was all good. This big fat guy (who appeared to have zero tattoos, which is fine, of course, but kinda cheap to only get $20 tattoos) was at the front of the line, and he seemed to be eyeballing me. When the door was unlocked at noon, he PUSHED ME OUT OF THE WAY and blocked my entrance. My friend/artist saw him do it, and he just about lost his shit. All the guys in the shop know me and said, "We got you, Jen, you're first. Just go on back." So I sit down while everyone else is still signing in, and he starts tattooing me with the little cup o' coffee. My artist has steam coming out of his ears. He's furious because this guy shoved me. He yells over to the fat guy (who is now starting to get a tattoo), and says, "Hey, is he getting the cock? HE SHOULD. F***ing ASSHOLE." I had to convince him NOT to punch the guy. Meanwhile, big fat guy is scared shitless and never made eye contact with me again.
Long story short, my friend is F***ing awesome, and he always has my back. And I like my little cup o' Joe. The end.

Don't worry about it for now. Let it heal and become a part of you. If at a later date you want to make a change, you can. Don't rush into anything.

I just joined the ranks of the tattooed last week at age 42. I had a design in mind for about 20 years, but I never acted on the idea until now. I don't know why I waited so long. The experience of getting it was great--I want another one as soon as I can manage it. My wife isn't thrilled by it (this tattoo or any potential future tattoos), but I think she's coming around to it all.
I asked the artist for a design I could have gotten 20 years ago, since that's when I had the idea. I think he did just that. The DNA sequence is from the FOXP2 gene, which is part of what we need to talk. (I'm a language teacher.)
I'm so thrilled that I have gotten my first tattoo. I'm looking forward to more.
