yes it is,let it heal for a couple months, the scabbing and milky look will go away.  don't pick at it, put on a light coat of Aveeno a couple times a day. it will be fine.

It looks like grey wash.  It will be reddish then brownish as the blood heals then it will be grey.

Is there any chance of getting a separate database to manage each month's submissions so they can be viewable all at once on a single page or in a feed?
    - requiring entries be entered by the 2nd day of the following month...
    - polling takes place between the 5th and the 10th of every month for the previous month
    - entries can be browsed, but not voted on or liked until the voting opens...
There could be different types of submissions too... maybe close to that of conventions?  Where all the sizes and subject matter are covered... and then each individual poll / contest could have it's own landing page, follow option and winner of the month.

I think it looks pretty and it will heal fine.  Once it heals and the ink settles it will always look newer than the original, but it looks like they did a good job matching the style of the leaves.  Let it heal... I don't think it would look as good if you tried to connect it now.

Bargain hunters definitely suck... what's worse is when they are friends and acquaintances who you aren't nessicarily trying to tattoo but you're trying to give honest advice to.
I think that has to be the most frustrating for me.  When you give real honest advice and people wrinkle their nose at it like they don't understand.
I have had quite a few people ask me for tattoos... then deals knowing full well I don't think they should be talking about tattoos at all if price is a factor for them.
Look at portfolios, pick the artist you want for a reason and pay them well if you're not willing to do this, you don't need a tattoo.
I guess the pricing issue has a lot to do with scratchers these days... posting basic pricing on instagram and facebook making people think that it's a realistic thing to expect from an artist.
What's worse though is when you get people asking for bad work on purpose...  some people can't tell the difference between a child's scrawl and Rembrandt.  I don't know how people's brains can function like this... but if the picture they are holding looks the same to them as the black scribble the scratcher did I guess it makes sense how they would be confused about pricing.

I thought of one, but it doesn't always annoy me in a bad way.
I hate when people come in and tell you how much they are into tattoos or that they are going to be a tattooer, but can't remember anyone who tattooed them. Much like a one night stand, if someone is going to tattoo me I am going to make sure and catch their name. It would be hard for me to forget who tattooed me. I guess I just don't think you can really be into tattoos if you don't know who is who. I guess a couple scenarios that stick out.
Hanging at a buddy's shop a couple on vacation abroad walked in wanting a couple small tattoos, they had a few tattoos, but none very exciting, but being a good guest my buddy asked who did their tattoos and he struggled for the name but came up with Filip Leu as the guy who did their wedding band tattoos. We were both kind of floored, you were able to somehow catch Filip Leu with some spare time and well I guess it's a meaningful tattoo to them, but imagine what could have been.
When I was at Spider Murphys recently a guy was getting tattooed by Matt and in this scenario I will say this guy was definitely into tattoos, he certainly liked talking about the Dragon Ed Hardy put on him in the early 90's. He was getting a rose next to an existing tattoo of one of picassos paintings. Like a good host Matt asks him who did it, and the guy says Ed was busy and he had one of the other guys in the shop named Dan do it. Asked what year and he said 91-92, holy shit Dan Higgs did this tattoo on him, which is cool in itself, but would have been cooler if it was something he had drawn up.
Anyhow most of the times it's more annoying people with less interesting stories that annoy me, the above scenarios were kind of cool, but I think I have rambled on enough.

We get loads of people walking in and saying "I want a sleeve tattooed" to which we obviously reply "Okay mate, what do you have in mind?", they then say "I don't know."
Honestly? You want your whole arm covered, but you haven't given any thought to what with?

julio, i read a story about a tattooer on south state street, chicago in the 50's who also hated that. so he would wear a big sombrero while he worked so the dude couldn't look down! the brim was between him and the tattoo!!

Not my biggest pet peeve, but had a girl come in yesterday with a lotus on her lower back. Her first words were- "I want to do something with this. He messed it all up. I don't like it." So I look at it, and it's well done. Some of the magenta healed a bit patchy, but it was otherwise done by someone competent. She tells me it's too big and she doesn't like that there's not water around it.
I had to remind her that she SAW the stencil first, and gave him the go ahead. She seemed completely put off that I wasn't on board with her shit talking whoever did it, but that's not my style. The sad thing is, I know if it were a lot of the other shops around here, they'd just start bashing the initial artist, further perpetuating an unnecessary bad rep for the guy.

It's a good concept... involve him in the conversation, he's doing the piece  and he did the wolf for you... I wouldn't limit him by showing only one design you like, but tell him which you like best... next to the others... you'll get a better, more original piece that way.

I love painting, but it's time consuming for me.
for lines Microns 5 and 8
for colors fw and tube water colors for blues and sometimes yellows...
bristol, I hate watercolor paper, it's too messy.
This is probably my favorite sheet so far

He's a good artist... your concepts are all in the same vein... except the dryad girl which is a different direction.
They aren't anything like what he was suggesting though.
These also aren't what I'd think of initially when thinking of woman portraits... they are more surreal than what people commonly ask for.  Makes me wonder if you showed them to him yet?
I'd give them to the artist, tell them a few things that you like and things you don't like about them... and put down a deposit so that he can start drawing.

Great insight, thank you. I have an email into the artist to get his design thoughts.

It seems like American Traditional typically has color but I think black/gray or black/gray/blue would really look good. Especially given the size of the piece.

Bailing on the olive branch idea as well. I think some subtle clouds/wind will be fill it out.

We had a client from another shop call us in tears this morning because she was confused about their complicated saniderm instructions, she thought she was going to ruin her tattoo... explained to her the simple time tested rules of healing and she calmed down.  I felt bad for her...
Also, I've used Saniderm before and i had a reaction to it... thankfully the rash was only around the edges of the saniderm and not on my actual tattoo.

The bubbles are perfectly fine and normal. You are capturing normal body fluids and keeping foreign material from getting into where those fluids are emanating from . . . except when you pop bubbles WHICH YOU SHOULD NOT DO!
