I feel like him stepping further out from a more Filip influenced style is partly because he might have a need to feel like he is the only one who makes tattoos like he tattoos. He started getting more new school and more abstract and really imo got out of traditional Japanese mindset. I think it is because there are several tattooers who do similar stuff and his recent direction is an attempt to set himself apart.
While I don't care for some of Shige's newer work, I have nothing but respect for him. What he does is still among the best in the world and I feel like he may be one of the most influention Japanese style tattooers around. He belongs in the company of his mentor, Horiyoshi 3, etc. But, for the purposes of this thread/discussion, I really dont jive on his new stuff...

I know none of you have seen progress pictures of my back with Kore Flatmo...but I may post some in May. Just booked in for two straight days of pain again. At that point, we will be roughly thirty hours in and I am going to ask him if he minds if I post progress pictures. Doing full back and ass as well as full left leg. Get fucking jealous!! :)

I got "Country Boy" across my back....please don't laugh yourself out of your chair. If it's any bit of redemption, it is now covered by a Kore Flatmo full backpiece.

I am man! :) I'm dying to see what he will come's up with design wise. It is going to be a full back piece going down onto my upper legs so we've got a long way to go :)

Just keep getting rad tattoos. Eventually, you will get to a point where you won't care about the fairly minor specifics of that part of your arm. Don't worry, let it happen, if you have a cool little piece you want to get and it feels right to stick it in there...then do it!

I have not played that actually. I know it is very very good. I just don't have the time to dedicate to playing that and Fallout at the same tiome. When I am done with Fallout, I may purchase Skyrim though. :)

I was trying to sum this up in the numb-y thread but you nailed it right here. I don't feel the need to prove how tough I am to myself or anyone else. All my most painful tattoos so far were while I was sober, but I have no problem taking meds to keep myself relaxed, which is more important than pain relief imo.
