My first tattoo, done in the late 90's.
The original design was for my dad's one-man guitar repair business called "the guitar doctor". It was based off of the ambulance symbol, only with a guitar neck and two snakes instead of one. Judging from the borderline he put there, I don't think Grime liked it very much, haha. It's not going anywhere though.

@fourtotheflush while it would be nice if you got a response I realize that tattooers or any business has a preferred method of communication whether it be email, phone, etc. Facebook would probably not be the best as it is usually just a advertisement to the shop.
@briankelly agreed that is a weird way to try and get an appointment but some people just don't know how it works.
@Dan S I've noticed in my business (I deal with client relationship stuff as well) that everyone has a preferred method and there is no rhyme or reason to which is the "best". Some tattooers (a good portion) accept email only, even to the point if you show up to the shop they hand you a business card with an email address (hell I could SEE the tattooer and they said...email). Some others never respond to email and you have to call the shop directly to get a response. Then the last method which I have also have experienced is you must walk to the shop and talk in person otherwise you will just slip through the cracks.
Even though I deal with new clients myself, even if they call me or talk face-to-face I always say email me otherwise they will never be in my queue. That's simply how I keep track. @fourtotheflush, even though all people reaching out are potential clients doesn't mean that anybody in the client facing position has to respond to every inquiry.
    Basically I agree and disagree.

@Lance, if you have a chance to get tattooed by Horitomo...well, you know how this sentence ends. Have him do your front. Hell, get a big Fudo from him, munewari be damned! You're already weird; embrace it.
I might as well jump in here. It's not very recent, but it is my latest. I finished this up with Stuart Cripwell (based on a painting of his) in December, but I never got around to taking pics of it. And I'll just add a disclaimer that it is damn near impossible to photograph a knee tattoo. I swear it doesn't look crooked in real life. :)

Come to think of it, I also have a "not very recent" tattoo that I haven't posted before.

Thank you all for a warm reception. I apologize for my trade secret comments I thought I read in the rules and conduct section a person was just not allowed to make a thread asking for them but I didn't realize they are not to be discussed or pm's. I understand now and will of course comply.
Peru has been a rough transition in many ways. Going from busy to dead has been hard. Its why I joined this forum to stay and feel connected with the art. As its just me and my girl here the days can be long but getting my website hits and keeping up on other media has kept me busy.
Again its a pleasure to be here.

Adam Hays at Red Rocket Tattoo in NYC did my sleeve. There are multiple meanings in my ink. First off, it is not done. I have about 6 hours of detail work left to do.
So on to the story! 2008 was a great year for me. My first daughter was born (I have twin daughters born a year later) and I took delivery of my 2008 Shelby Terlingua. #2 of 38 built. I took delivery at the Shelby American Terlingua 2008 event in Terlingua, TX. Come to find out, my wife went to college in the next down over. In 2009, Shelby American couldn't do the event. So myself and 3 of my friends did. In 2010 I took the Terlingua Preservation Society to 501c3 making it a non-profit business entity. We donate all of our proceeds to the local community (70% live below the poverty level down there) which includes Terlingua High School, Terlingua Fire & EMS and Activets. Among others. In 2012 we had our biggest year yet and raised over 24k in our one weekend. Terlingua has become a big part of my life. 2.5 years ago I started thinking about getting my first tattoo. Then it was on to the what theme, color, grayscale or what. I spent a year and a half figuring out what I wanted. During my Terlingua event I discovered the artwork of Adam Hays. At around the same time I started looking at the local artists by me and was found that none of them could capture the essence of what I was looking for. I race Mustangs and getting into desert racing. I decided I wanted something that imbued Terlingua, my daughters and my racing. Last summer I discovered that Adam did tattoo work, I hit his web page and the light bulb went off in my head. THIS IS THE GUY! I emailed the shop in August 2012, couple of phone conversations later I had an appointment for January 2013. Since I was flying in for the appointments, I wanted as much work done as humanly possible while I was there. I left it up to Adam to decide what could be done. What did I know? I had never had a tattoo. He was the expert and I left this up to him. I gave Adam the details of what I wanted in the design. He came up with the idea of horses racing through the desert and the skeletons (Terlingua thing) on the horses. It tied everything in and I loved the concept. Last Thursday and Friday I discovered what my pain threshold was, which was about what Adam could tattoo in a single sitting. We had two six hour days of tattooing. Below is the product as it is on my arm now. What is left is the mountains behind it (which will have my wife's name in it because without her, I would not have my daughters), some cactus and dust clouds coming up around the horses.
All in all, I am extremely happy with my ink and the work that Adam has done. Now to get my race schedule this year and find out when I can get back to NYC to get my tat finished :) Added note: Shelby, Bella and Lexi are my daughters.

My rickety old back held up. Got this from the very talented Jordan Teear at Frith Street yesterday. He got an amazing amount of work done in three hours. All done without a break. To say I'm thrilled with it is an understatement.

yeah it's been on my radar lately too and we can't come up with a good solution to try and keep the "spam" down. If you have some ideas pls share as we're always open. I must say though is the people who are doing it tend not to stick around long and their need to contribute for their own selfish need of ten shows the quality of user they may be....it really is not that hard to contribute ten productive post if someone cares enough as we've had users recently do this as well.
Long story short stuck between a rock and a hard spot
EDIT: We are going to have users chasing the ten post irresponsibly so when we see this we may just want to jump in and say something like, "if you're trying to just get to your ten post so you can start your own thread without contributing productively to the community then chances are you're not gonna get a productive answer to your thread when you do reach that ten."

Alright I guess I'll step in here......The name calling is enough, what are we kids? No we're adults on a tattoo forum who should act respectful to one another even if we don't see eye to eye and/or know eachother face-to-face. Disagreements happen and that is good though the important part is how we conduct ourselves in the disagreements that matter.
First we don't delete profiles, post, thread, images, etc unless it is spam or under very few and rare circumstances. We want people to think before they post here (unlike other forums) so that people try to act more civil on this site and we don't have to police all damn day. We're trying to run a different forum than those before us so we can help people along the way get better tattoos. Name calling doesn't help that and I don't care who started take the higher road.
Secondly, yes each person has there own take on their tattoos and it is important that the person who has the tattoos likes them....with that being said there is always going to be a better tattooer who could of executed a tattoo better. I have some pretty bad tattoos and over the years I have tried to get better ones each time. Sure I like my bad tattoos for various reasons though would I still goto those same people today? NO! I am sometimes around tattooers who I think very highly of and they see my shitty tattoos and I know they do because they'll make comments...so I suck it up and work on getting better tattoos. I have some tattooers who I respect look at tattoos they've done on me and critique them...how am I supposed to feel as I am the one wearing it? I don't care as I know that is what makes them strive to be better tattooers and gotten them where they are and will help them get to where they want to get....better!
Lastly, you did put up photos of your tattoos as well as some where you are doing some sort of modeling so my questions is....what were you looking to get out of those modeling ones when all you had to do was put up the close-ups of your tattoos?
With all that being typed, we do hope you'll stick around and maybe learn a thing a two...I learn a lot cause I enjoy being a student and will never know it all. If you decide to leave that's cool as well though your post and pics stay.

not a huge deal but if the blue was lightened with white it makes sense that that happened. if it really bothers you then have the person who did the tattoo go over it and use a truer blue with less white. and it will all work out

Hey! I just noticed that I'm a "regular" here now... ex-lurker no more!!
What if people had to have at least 10 posts and... at least 3(?) or 5(?) "liked posts" before they could start a thread... certainly no one would "like" one of the obviously spammy posts that people have been rushing through to get to 10. It might force people to be more thoughtful...

I made a really good Mexican pork stew last week as well from a recipe in Rick Bayless' Authentic Mexican cookbook. It was so good. I made up a batch of fresh Mexican chorizo for it and cooked up the last of that a couple of days ago to make a pork, chorizo, and sweet potato cobbler. A picture of that:
