Do they just carry their stuff around in a plastic grocery bag while they wait? I mean, my thinking is that if you have a need for a hand bag it means you have stuff you need to carry right now so I'm not seeing how a waiting list is a legit option here.
Tattoos on the other hand... probably worth waiting if you have a specific artist you really want to get a tattoo by but also there are a lot of really excellent artists who either don't have a long wait time or specifically set aside certain days for walk ins so I guess it's up to you how long you want to wait. Either way, I suggest getting a bag that is readily available to carry your stuff to the tattoo appointment.

Recently returning from our son's destination wedding in St. Lucia. Pretty surreal place insomuch as you couldn't look in any direction without being astounded at how gorgeous it is. And almost every day we'd get these light drizzels for about 2-3 minutes, and they would create these incredible rainbows that were literally just a 100 yards away or less. Here's me viewing one on the porch of our room at the resort:

It's worth making sure you are going to a shop that takes walk ins. Maybe call a few before hand - or maybe you can figure it out online. Otherwise, my experience is you just walk in and ask if someone is available to give you a tattoo.

Yep. The trick is to know that where you are going has someone doing the style you want and is competent at it. Do your research beforehand unless you're just interesting in getting marked, outcome be damned. Never hurts to just visit 1st and get a feel for the shop and your prospective target.

Since I got my tattoos and dropped 35 lbs - and have been exercising a bit to tone up and keep my weight stable, I've been wearing a lot of sleeveless shirts and t-shirts. For work, I mostly wear short-sleeved shirts when the college is out of our normal semesters and I'm not wearing a suit. I'll even wear a tie with a short-sleeved shirt and sport coat. But, I don't normally go sleeveless at work.
While I was out in Michigan at my sister's this week we were going through some old family pictures when I came across this one - my Dad in 1935. Apparently going sleeveless isn't new, it's retro, so I can now order some sleeveless dress shirts for work!!!

Before going to talk to the artist you might consider going to talk to a doctor.

This is easy in Minneapolis. Go to Leviticus on Lake Street. Excellent artists doing walk ins every Saturday or go in and tell someone at the desk your idea and they will help you choose an artist. Again, I am biased because I also live in Minneapolis and Leviticus is not just my favorite tattoo shop- it's one my my very favorite business in town period. Hell, now I'm jealous. There are plenty of other great tattoo shops in town so my feelings won't be hurt if your research leads you elsewhere but save yourself the trouble and go to Leviticus.

Thank you both so much!  I am sure I am overthinking a lot of it, I have a habit of doing that and coming up with ideas for this is a way to get me away from all of the worry about the pregnancy.  I live in the Minneapolis area so I am sure there are some decent shops around, I will just have to my research.

Hi all.  I'm Patti.  For at least 20 years I've wanted a tattoo.  Between worrying about the pain and not knowing how to find a good artist, I never got any ink.  A couple of months ago I met a guy who had two awesome colorful sleeves.  I asked him who and where his artist was, and he gave me her name and the LOCAL shop where she works.
I sent her an email telling her my idea and asking if she'd be willing to consult with me.  I figured if i never heard from her, it would mean the universe was telling me I wasn't supposed to get a tattoo.  Surprisingly, she contacted me and we set up a consultation appointment.  Once I got the nerve to walk into a tattoo shop for the very first time, we had a good discussion and agreed on a design and placement.  I knew she typically had a 5 or 6 month wait list, so I knew I had several months to work up my nerve.  But, she had had a cancellation for a slot THE FOLLOWING WEEK!  I probably turned pale, but I decided to put on my big girl panties and accept the appointment.
Getting my first tattoo was the best thing I've done in years!  I sat for 2 1/2 hours.  The pain was a lot less than I expected.  I did say "Ow" inside my head a couple of times, but I stayed perfectly still.
I love my first tattoo, and I got the first part of my second tattoo two days ago.  The first tattoo represents a panda that I took care of on a volunteer trip to China.  He actually sat cross-legged when he ate so that he could recover any crumbs that fell on his lap.
