A lot of state of the union discussion around here lately...
For what it's worth- I like getting to know folks on the Internet around a shared interest and then discussing anything and everything with them. This, as you can imagine, lends itself to varied results depending on community norms and moderator energy. I have wondered if a daily, or probably weekly, general thread would help. It would give new posters a place to follow current conversation and jump in to ask a simple question without doing masters level research. It would also give me a place to complain about how disappointing the Timberwolves were in the season opener or tell you if my wife gets Nick Cave tickets tomorrow (fingers crossed). 
In other, more relevant news, the tattoo shop both emailed and called to conform my appointment for Sunday so they must be as excited to put a tattoo on me and I am to be tattooed.

Just got this done, old school cowboy skull. Fits right in between two other tattoos I have. Can't wait to see how it heals up.

These are both a year or more old at this point, but I never actually put them in this thread.
The death's head moth was done by Oliver Peck when he guested at Kadillac Tattoo Mt. Airy (Philadelphia) last summer. Not the best picture, but he ended up slipping a lot of hot pink in there that wasn't at all what I'd expect from him. In the end, I loved it and was happy with how it came out. Getting tattooed by Oliver is as great as you'd expect. I had just gotten my shin done by Scott the week before and mentioned in our emails; Oliver came barging in yelling, "Lemme see that Scott tat!" right off the bat. After we were done, he actually took his shirt off and showed me a ton of his tattoos from Scott, Trevino, Rassier, Stell, etc. So fucking awesome.
The torch moth was done by Keith Reed at X-Treme in West Chester, PA shortly after they moved to their new location. This was a "thank you" tattoo for helping them move. Keith is the best. Just an every day, no-bullshit, hard-working tattooer. Without him, I wouldn't know shit about tattoos.
Not the best pic in the world, but @Dan and I were chatting back and forth and I realized I should probably upload em. Once that Grez knee you can see half done gets finished, I'll hit up the squidpants thread.

If this was the artist you have most of your work from I'd say stop asking us and ask him/her. Say you admired the tattoo and placement and wondered about getting something similar.

It might discourage the trend of users signing up to ask one question and then disappearing. True, this is activity, but does it create a sense of community here?  Maybe a small fee might encourage people to browse a bit before signing up? (Plus, hosting this site isn't free.) My first post was a stupid question about tattoo healing, for the record. I stayed because of the community (uh, sorry guys).

well,I have to say that when my wife and myself got tattooed by Oliver Peck last February , my wife and myself agreed beforehand to not discuss ink masters at all with him,we figured he gets it all the time and we didn't want to do that to him,Oliver and myself talked a lot about general bullshit the whole time though,just not his celebrity or the show,and when we get tattooed next weekend by him,it will be the same thing.
I do like to talk during a tattoo,it helps take my mind off the pain.

I got my first tattoo about 5 years ago when my wife decided it was time for her to get a new tattoo after a long break. 
We decided to get matching tattoos of a terrible drawing I had done on a Mother's Day card of the two of us and our daughter all holding hands. Think of those stickers people put on their mini vans except drawn by someone who can't even print his own name legible most of the time. 
It is by far my worst tattoo and one of my favorites. I never thought that it would lead to all these other tattoos.
