MadeIndelible reacted to irezumi in Chest/Torso Tattoos
That dagger is on one of my best friends. I think I know where you got that. She got pissed that her nip was in the pic haha. Hopefully she wont see that I posted it on the internets a while back.

BUT THATS A COOL NAME TO USE BRO.
And if you (autodude) were to use Seth as an example, you should also know that he had his brother and P Wee (both well-trained and experienced tattooers at well respected established shops) to help him out when he needed it, by being on hand in person to get it done right.
for real though, there is no shame in seeking out a second apprenticeship to learn how to do it right. It would really benefit you and your ability to grow at better pace with a well-trained mentor. If the owner of the shop you're at now can't help you, then it's the blind leading the blind. so what if it sets you back a step from what you are currently doing; it will soon launch you 5 steps ahead of where you are now.
The internet will get you absolutely nowhere.

I have always been taught if you want to learn something from a tattooer, ask them while they are tattooing you. It may not work but it's your best shot. The answer you are looking for is not going to be covered in a couple of sentences in a forum post and really can't be surmised from the two sentences you have shared about your problem. You deal with customers you know how much easier it is to deal with people in person vs. on the phone or email.

Maybe you should find a new and more experienced person to apprentice under again. Sounds like you didnt learn very much from a shitty teacher.

Maio Desa put this on my knee earlier, really happy with it!
I'd love to say I sat well, but that's simply not true - not so much the pain, but had a dizzy moment early on and couldn't stop shaking my leg for most of it...

I'm outta town right now, but when I get back, I'll swhoot you the name of a book I picked up on the cheap, it's just a collection of firework art going back into the early 1900's. got it for $3 at a remainder sale, and it has some seriously kool stuff in it.
Many thankx for all the compliments on our new work, but I gotta give the props to Ncik at Chicago Tattoo!

MadeIndelible reacted to Dan S in The dreaded wait to be tattooed
So, my Lady and I went into Chicago Tattoo last night for our appointment, figured we'd be in an out in a few hours, had a small custom piece designed, a little coverup on my knees, no big thang.
Wrong.
First, Kathy spots an ancient Sailor Jerry design on the wall, and it's "can we do that instead?". Yes Dear.
Then Nick shows me the drawings he's done for my coverups, and they were just a wee tad larger than I had thought....
Ah well, ended up staying for five hours, and walking out with some beautiful work. I've got to say, Nick Colella is, imho, about the best there is at Traditional American tattooing today.
Anyhow, here's a few pix. The last pic is the old firecracker pack the cat heads came from.
