  2. well, regarding the "goddess", there are many issues IMO , to go into a few, the shading on her face looks like a beard, her nose is not really there, the outline on the lips looks terrible, the lips are not even, the shading that is suppose to maybe be eye brows is different sizes and does not look like eye brows, she looks like a man, the shading under her eyes and on her forehead make no sense, where is the light source coming from ? the outlines around her nostrils ,lips, and eyes are really bad. sorry, but it's just a poorly done tattoo IMO. I just felt being honest might help you in your next tattoo.

    New and Terrified! :)

It seems like you’ve made your decision, but just wanted to chime in as someone else with GAD. I’ve wanfed a tattoo for years. Finally I knew what I wanted, and I put down a deposit. I was nervous as hell the day before. But, about an hour before the appointment, I realized that this is a transition (no tattoo to having a tattoo) and being nervous is NORMAL. I’ve had a number of body piercings in the past but those were easily removed. Of course I’d be nervous about this. Once I got to the shop, I felt totally calm. I figured that was the most important thing. I trust my artist and felt comfortable in the shop, and even the pain wasn’t bad. Because this was my first tattoo, and because I’ve got a history of fainting, I opted for just the line work. 24 hours later I was so stoked about the outcome that I made my next appointment. All of this is to say that, I think, as somebody with GAD, I’m often constantly questioning myself. “Is of normal to be nervous? Is this GAD or should I really be nervous? But realizing that a little anxiety is normal helped me be a lot more okay with everything. Attached is a photo from -right- after she did it— outline of one of the giant elk inside Lascaux cave. The cave painting has some grey shading along the base of the elk’s body and inside the antlers, so that’s what I’ll get done next...and then hopefully a few more cave critters.

Well, I appreciate your honesty, at least, but we'll see where life takes me, haha. Decision is still mine, in the end. 🙂

  8. First order of business is going to the section that talks all about this and you can probably find it there. In the mean time keep the area clean and dont wait and go to the doctor because the white pimples sound like a Staph infection @elly318

  9. Hey...welcome. Get the okay from your doctor first! While some anxiety is normal, if you are super stressed then maybe you shouldn't start with a 1/2 sleeve, which is an ambitious project for a first tattoo. Maybe think about getting something smaller as a test to see how you react and heal. There is no rush in making the decision.

  10. Be aware that it's really hard to do script well. You need someone that is really precise because you'll see every imperfection. Also, be aware that thin skin is more prone to blowouts. Even skilled artists can have them. Bigger is better. Make sure you have multiple recommendations, don't just pop into the first shop you see. Do your research before you get the tattoo so you don't wind up back here asking if there is some way to fix the shaky script or the blowouts. ;-)

  11. Just let it heal and its not really crooked so much as your skin has nooks and crannies and will never look fully straight no matter how much they fix it. Take the tattoo as it is and let it be, its truly going to be okay

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

I got my third tattoo last Wednesday... the tattoo I always thought would be my first, a family tribute. I asked for suggestions on it here a while back and tried to put them to good use. I stayed away from heavy on text and went with something more graphic and symbolic. We all like the Pixar movie "Up" so I used that as a theme and added my wife's, daughter's and grandkids' first initials in heart shaped balloons with their birth stone colors. It was done by Jaimi Mullholand at Broad Wing Tattoo in Bowling Green, OH. I'm super pleased with it and ready for my next.
