Ribs freaking hurt. I gotta recommend a xanex for ribs. I know i did a little moaning at the end of my outline and first color sessions on my ribs, that shit HURTS.

I just came across this thread. I'm taking the MSF course this weekend, i'm really excited. I am looking at used Honda Shadows in the 600cc range for my first bike.
I always wanted to ride...my ex-wife was so adamently against it I never seriously considered it...but then again, she was against a lot of fun stuff.
:p

I didn't have the desire as much, or the exposure to good tattooing, or really even the money to get tattooed when I was young. I'm 45, and I have a lot of empty space...and now I have the time and money to get tattooed. I don't regret waiting...I also wonder about age effecting sitting time...I did 3.5 hours on my ribs a few weeks ago. I wonder if it doesn't hurt the more you get tattooed regardless of age.
Maybe someone like @jade1955 might agree with this...I'm more concerned about living long enough for my tattoos to look old than being the guy with really old tattoos at this point. :p
I do agree with @David Flores on one point, you should do it when your carefree...I got married and had kids super young, now I'm divorced and this is really the first "carefree" time I've had since I was 20. (I sound defensive - not intending too)

That is some good stuff. I keep meaning to do another beer exchange. We just bought a house and waiting to get the keys, but maybe after the dust settles. This local brewery partly funded by lottery dollars just released a canned Imperial IPA. It's called Fort George Vortex Imperial IPA, it comes in a four pack of 16 oz cans (8.4%) and it is amazing.
Yeah man, that sounds great.

I did get tattooed today, a sailor jerry sparrow.

I found this last week:
@David Flores is probably the only one who might recognize the can. Its an Upslope IPA can. Smashed. In a parking lot.
Its the first time litter actually ever made me happy.

I have a major urge to get tattooed today.

Sonofa... this is the second time I've heard a vote for xanax, the first was from @ShawnPorter. And I wussed out at the convention because I didn't know how I'd do on it. Next (and last) rib session, I'm definitely poppin one of those bad boys.
It was a huge help! I took that and a couple advil...I had the muscle relaxer too...I just didn't take it (witney houston died the day before...I was a little leary of mixing the drugs since I have never taken a xanex). I'll do the muscle relaxer too next time and prolly the antihistimine. @ShawnPorter is the man. I went 3.5 hours on my ribs and could have done another hour.

The side is being done first. We talked about my back...I think this will flow into a ronin on my back. I'm excited about the whole process so far. The snake head you see is part of the side piece.
Btw...xanax worked wonders for distracting me from the pain.

I just had some major rib stuff yesterday, posted in in the latest tattoo lowdown section.

I've been doing p90x for over a year. Supplementing with whey protien, green super food, vitamins and herbal supplents for "internal function" and brain "clarity".
I still eat crappy food too often...too much beer.
Its cool having some damn muscle tone...although I did freak out the first time I saw my ribs...I was like, what the fuck are those!?!?

Hogg's tigers are ridiculous...definitely inspired me to get a tiger on my side.

I was an athiest for 36 years and became a believer in Christianity about 9 years ago. I'm not a fundamentalist or anything. I think religious symbols make badass tattoos and I dont have any problem with who they are on. Personally, I can see a ROA in my future. Otherwise, I tend to like traditional stuff and americanized japanese stuff...I dont feel a need to have my religious beliefs represented on my body, however, like a lot of other people said, its powerful imagery and makes for some really sweet tattoos.

My last three tattoos were unplanned. I love them all as much as the ones I planned out. My birthday is next month and I plan on treating myself to a trip down to Lifetime Tattoo and picking out another sailor jerry piece or something off the wall. But I'm definitely going to pick it out that day, not in advance.

Last Wednesday...I have a side appt for jan 18th...
Yeah @David Flores, I understand your frustration...I think I will have a hard time going more than 2 hours at a time on my side...I figure 5 sessions at that rate. Ugh.

Best thread in a while.
I see kevin's side of this...I don't go to my tattooer for decision making assistance or moral or ethical guidance.

cfgsteak: Did they put in green or black in those upward facing whiskers or leave as is? Also, which SJ flash book is this from-one of the three big ones?
@Kev - the upward whiskers are as is, no color. This is from the blue book (I think the second book) on page 21.

Lifetime Tattoo in Denver was having a Pearl Harbor Day deal yesterday, palm sized Sailor Jerry flash for $41 (for the year Pearl Harbor was bombed). I couldn't pass that deal up from such a good shop. I almost felt guilty getting such a nice tattoo for so little cash (I tipped well)
I got this:
Sorry, terrible cell phone pic...
