Once my thigh heals up I should probably update my progress in this thread.
Edit: I saw someone else describe a "pesky knee gap." That term seems very fitting right now. I've got a few ideas for my knees, but I'm sort of struggling a bit.

I love your peonies, might have to add some to my collection soon. Hope my legs can look that nice when they're done!

First post, I come from Stockholm, I like tattoos and I find it quite difficult to navigate in this forum:) Ex lurker, never took the time to register an account until now.
Closer to 40 than 30, first tattoo I got was in 97. Got it covered last year.

I sometimes watch that shit, and I'm ashamed of it. Here are some of the things from Ink Master that make me cringe: "human canvas", "the judges have decided", "...but that's not it" (in the voice of Dave Navarro), "human canvas jury", Dave Navarro, NFL stars with no knowledge of tattoo culture, random morons with no knowledge of tattoo culture, the fact that there are two people judging that actually has vast knowledge of tattoo culture and yet choose to participate in the freak show known as ink master, etc etc. I know, I shouldn't be watching it if I loathe it so much, but I can't help myself... I just hope mr Kruseman, who seems to be a real person, gets to walk home with the 100.00 dollars ("a feature in inked magazine, and the title of ink master" aaargh, I can't stand Dave Navarro!)

While in New Orleans it was Southern Decadence and these gentleman showed up definitely unwanted. I approached this latino gentleman with a throat rocker and hand tattoos and asked him how can he discriminate individuals while I'm sure he's experienced discrimination for the above mentioned two reasons. He had nothing to say. So I let him know people like him give people with tattoos a bad reputation. He still had nothing to say.
Enjoy the lack of spell check on their signs because I know many of us did!

I would agree except the bickering gets higher ratings. I read the Facebook comments. "I love her work but she's so FAT. I hope she loses soon" "His tattoos may not be good but he's a dreamboat, I'd kill for one of his pieces." And on and on. They're the same crowd who watches Real Housewives of Wherever. I wish I had a dime for every time someone typed the word "jacked", or used a direct judge's quote for criticizing something they truly do not understand. People who may or may not have a single tattoo going on and on like they're real experts. Follow their comment to their own FB page (Stalk) and if they have a tattoo, it's generally something dismal. Nary a one understands the complex simplicity of American Traditional. And Japanese? Forget about it.
I have a group of a half dozen close friends who are tattoo artists and they are sick of folks coming in and acting like they're Toothpick Peck or I Hate Everyone Nunez. "Yeah, I want a Block "O" college logo but we need to discuss line weight and negative space." "Do you know Mystical Mike? I heard he was in Columbus once."
The episode where the "flash challenge" was nailing drywall finally did it for me. Call Fonzie, this turd has definitely jumped the shark.

This is the best I can do right now, both upper arms by Horimatsu from Osaka, done at Stockholm Classic Tattoo (except for the lines on the left arm, they were done at Tatuata in Helsinki). The left arm is not finished.
I actually tried to post two different photos but I'm too stupid to manage that task...

If someone is interested in some powerful bold irezumi, lines made with machine and all shading with tebori, I can warmly recommend Horimatsu (@bunshin_horimatsu on instagram). He travels a lot, especially in Europe.
My first experience of getting tebori done was a juzu bead around my ankle, by said Horimatsu, and it pretty much felt the same as a machine tattoo feels. Then a few months after that he visited Stockholm again and did a half sleeve on me, with some cover ups in it, in five consecutive days . He did all lines and also background (because of the cover up situation...) with machine. That took three days. Then he shaded all colour in two 3-4 hour sessions. The arm felt pretty bad after three days. I think the tattooer stretches the skin with more pressure when doing tebori tattoos, so the last two days were kinda rough. I think what I'm trying to say is it doesn't hurt more than machine tattooing, unless you have huge areas of freshly made tattoos around the areas being worked on with tebori tools. The healing was a bit different on the tebori bits, it kind of flaked off faster than the areas made with machine.
Also, maybe ot, I know it may sound stupid for someone to get tattooed five days in a row, but I really wanted the arm finished. And it was a pretty cool experience:)

That's interesting. I would say that constantly looking at tattoes online on instagram, forums and facebook of my favorite artist is "active learning", right? I just don'\t seem to be able to visualize a cool tattoo and maybe I don't know exactly what I want. I really like the feeling of getting tattooed but i'm not interested in the meaning of it, just the aesthetics of good tattooes on my skin.
