  1. can't comment on yr particular job too much, though i haven't gone below the elbow since i like to wear short sleeves once in a while coz central texas, hot as shit here and i also ride my bike to work. that first 30mins at work cooling down is a mf'er sometimes ( i do change clothes). if i drove a car with AC then it wouldn't bother me.

on the healing, i usually keep saran wrap on my tattoos until they aren't too irritated by clothing rubbing them. maybe 3 days. yeah it sucks with the sweating ooze but whatever, keeps it from scabbing and feels better than a fresh tattoo rubbed by jeans...

a few youngsters at work stepped right up and blasted tattoos on their forearms so i guess that is a little opener for me to also, been thinking i might get trevino to blast mine...no rush though..

  2. oh hey, i happen to have in my flickr, a bloody photo of this panther. this was two sessions coz just booking in wherever there was time for chris. all of the outline and most of the black was already done from the first session. snapped this pic heading back to my truck to head home...

  3. don't worry about it. if you're open to giving them some freedom to change it up some or do their interpretation then it will be fine...most likely. also, it sounds like it wouldn't be the best experience if the artist is just trudging through something they aren't really into.

and if they aren't into then keep looking or maybe rethink your idea some. i've def had ideas that i decided i wasn't into after a little time.

Spur of the moment trip happening to Portland next week to see Tim Lehi for sesssion #4 of the back-piece.

    PUMPED.

whoa, is Tim Lehi in pdx now? when i got tattooed by whitehead he mentioned he was trying to get Lehi to move there, i haven't been following tattoo stuff much lately...might need to travel to pdx.

  5. nothing is perfect, perfection is imperfection or something like that

unless it's just terrible, as in looks like the artists had no idea what they were doing then i'd just leave it and appreciate it.

i a tattoo i love on my chest that has some blowouts, it just happens. i think that was mainly to do with my skin.

sometimes it's also something like a controlled blowout. makes the lines look almost 3d.

  6. had this happen atleast 3 times i think

been in perfection usually just bullshitting when there will be a phone call...then dude looks over and says "hey you wanna get tattooed by chris today for about 6 hrs???"

everytime i've been low on funds or i'm already getting tattooed, so i say "damn that's tempting...but i gotta hold off this time."

then old dude usually goes "....well...FUCK!!, then he looks through the book and starts making calls."

    pretty funny when it happens.

  7. I had my Chad rose morph copied, maybe not line for line, but very substantially, by somebody on here (I'm not going to name names) and it really bummed me out. It wasn't even so much that it was copied--and to be clear here, I'm not talking about the handful of people on here who have gotten rose morphs from Chad or from other tattooers, I'm talking about one specific tattoo--because having tattoos copied is pretty much inevitable in this day and age when so much is available online. What really bummed me out about it is that it was on somebody from here. I don't know the interaction this person had with their tattooer: did they bring in a picture of my tattoo, did they say they wanted that sort of design and the tattooer found a photo of my tattoo? This is the sort of thing that happens all the time and it is what it is, but I guess there are a couple of things that really bother me about it, one being that this forum should be educating people and giving them knowledge so that they aren't doing things like bringing in photos of other tattoos and wanting more or less exact copies of them and that this happened just underlines the fact that a lot of people are here not because they want to learn and get better tattoos, they just want to take from here; that somebody thought it was okay to copy the tattoo of somebody they interacted with. It's not just taking a picture from instagram and handing it to your tattooer. Plenty of you people here have tattoos that I am jealous of because they're so rad and I wish they were on me, but the right thing to do in that case is draw inspiration from that, not straight-up copy it.

did chad do both of the tattoos or did another artist do a rose morph like chad did for you?

  8. To the OP, I can pretty much guarantee that was a classic eagle design that Bert put on you. I highly doubt he drew that custom for you. He most likely was flipping through some classic flash designs, saw that eagle, and performed that eagle. The other tattoo was done by someone probably looking at the exact same design.

yeah, i was going to say this

that's mostly what the shop is all about isn't it? classic flash designs, people come in and get something "off the wall"...

not discounting, i love that. one dude here i go to if i want flash. he doesn't draw much anymore coz his hands are fragile so he likes to tattoo flash.

as far as the rose morph getting copied, there is no way around it. everything is on social media and it's right there for everybody to see and screenshot. seriously. i'm almost positive people screenshot the tattoos they like to go back to for reference when that artist comes to rock of ages...

that's a huge advantage of getting work from dudes that aren't on social media, though that is exrtemely rare.

or another way to look at it is no two tattoos will ever be the same. even if they use the same stencil...

    feel flattered i guess...

  9. I didnt think the shin was too bad. The center area where the bone is felt pretty tolerable.

Going up toward the knee cap felt better. The ankle area and as he moved out towards the outside of my calf was real sensitive for me.

Pretty much everything hurts from jaie though. He goes slow and deep to get everything really dark or bright. He outlined with a needle he spread out some, so the outline felt huge. Not that sharp precise feeling. When we were talkin about that he said mike malone made a joke about tattooing with huge needles is kinda like riding a bike with training wheels. Lol.

Oh yeah. I sent my lady a pic of the stencil and she says "you think he is gonna add blood drops to the tear?"

Right as we were done he says. I think we should add some blood dripping down. You cool with that?
