Just give it time a let it heal. It's not going anywhere.

scottyg reacted to Gingerninja in can i still turn this around?
Hi there!
Sharing my experience on laser removal. I started the process last year on a small wrist tattoo and I've had seven treatments with a Q-switched laser. It's a crappy tattoo done by a crappy artist...live and learn. In my situation, the tattoo is barely budging. It's lighter for sure but still not light enough for a coverup. To date, I've spent $600 on removal. The tattoo was done deep with a weird black ink that's being super stubborn. In February, I have an appointment to hit it with a Pico laser. Maybe by this time next year, it will be solid for a coverup with medium to lighter colors.
Just a reminder that it's going to be a journey, not a quick fix!

scottyg reacted to Gingerninja in What's the best way to go about this tattoo idea?
A few of my friends have 'tour' tattoos of the places they've been. My one buddy has two amazing sleeves pieced together of the places he's been with the iconic city/country symbols, flags, and the like (what @scottyg said).

scottyg reacted to SStu in Should I get tattooed while in Rarotonga?
Lucky you, for having the option. If it were me, I'd be just as interested, for sure. Maybe plan it towards the end of your visit and bring some antibiotics just in case?

That was really confusing until I looked closely. If you hadn't told me it was a key I doubt I would have noticed. If you don't want the key colored, color the parts that aren't the key.
The best thing though is to take your concerns to a qualified tattoo artist and get suggestions. It's not a bad tattoo, there is just nothing that differentiates the key from the other elements.

It was my birthday recently and my husband's present was a "certificate" (he made it himself, it was adorable) for a new tattoo. Decided to not procrastinate like I seem to do with most certificates, so called yesterday and booked a spot for 8/28 with the artist who did my first tattoo. In an elevator today I was complemented on my stunning tattoo, so clearly I made the right choice to go back for more :)

scottyg reacted to Dan in this is so awesome for me that it needed it's own thread.
It’s been a long road, and soon I will start the next chapter on this adventure of mine.
I was laid off from a job I had for 21 years in July of 2016 because of downsizing, I left there on good terms believe it or not. Thanks to the Human resources manager and general manager, they were both willing to and did give me great references the entire time I was job hunting.
To back up a little, my job search actually started in late 2014 as I knew the company I worked for was doing badly and was in the process of barely surviving, downsizing, maybe going under.
So I had started applying big time, I knew I wanted to work for the state of California, or county of Sacramento, or City of Sacramento, and I also told myself that I never wanted to have to cover my tattoos again, like I did with the job I had.
After countless applications and interviews, and a couple seasonal jobs and used up unemployment, and several offers from a variety of places, mostly part time, no benefits, limited term, low pay, etc, etc.
So fast forward to July 2017, I finally got a job offer from an application I did in May of 2015!
After all this work and trouble, Not only did I get a good offer, it was the PERFECT offer!
I start August 21st with the County of Sacramento Probation Department !
Which is going to be 7am to 3pm M-F,
12.5 paid holidays,
2 weeks’ vacation to start(5 weeks after 5 years),paid benefits for my wife and myself, permanent full time, good retirement pension, etc, etc.
I held out for a few things and got them, weekends off, I don’t have to cover any of my tattoos, and paid benefits.(those may seem trivial but they are important to me)
After a year of no permanent good work, this is really huge for me and my wife, any of you in the job search world, you know how important benefits, full time, and permanent are.
It took me almost 3 years of searching to get to this point.
So that’s my awesome news!

Spent another 2 days with Chris Crooks, he lined and shaded the back of my right leg on day1 and colored 2 lotus flowers on day 2. Going back in January to finish color and start the back of the left leg. Video of day1 on his instagram.

I like what you have going. Get some small fill-in tattoos. If you want to use fillers, get stars and dots. Don't add some weird background. A "graywash" won't look good.

scottyg reacted to Hogrider in Looking for sleeve progress opinions/advice
#1 - put your artist on speed dial.
#2 - google "tattoo filler american traditional"

scottyg reacted to el twe in Looking for sleeve progress opinions/advice
Welcome. Honestly, I'm not sure that I'd opt for any kind of background. It looks like there are still a few places for some filler (bugs, flowers, abstract whatnots), but outside of stars and dots I'd probably just leave the skin open. If you have an artist in mind who you trust, his or her view is definitely worth hearing.

Just got a mail from her, she's about to start working on the sketch! I can't wait to see what she comes up with :)

scottyg reacted to Dan in Norse forearm tattoo
it's a cool design, and the best thing I could say about getting that tattoo is that it would have to be pretty large to even work and stay looking good down the road.If you're going to get that,"go big or go home".So IMO get it big.
get it bigger than you think you want it when getting tattooed, has always been a good rule for me.

This is a conception of what's coming up in September. My artist took a picture of my back and slapped a design over it.

These aren't FREE tattoos. You're going to have to pay to have them covered up or lasered off. Take a deep breath and stop. As @Devious6 said, do your research. Shit tattoos are no bargain.

scottyg reacted to el twe in New to the forum
I can't help but think that you'll set yourself up for another disappointment by getting another "free" tattoo...

scottyg reacted to thyes in New to the forum
You know what they say; if it sounds too good to be true, then chances are it is.
Life's too short for shit tattoos.
