  1. I grew up as a kid that was bullied and did all I could to not stand out or be notice as to not bring down more hurtful things upon myself.  I also had a mom that as good as she was, was a child of the depression and wasn't at all accepting of things she wasn't familiar with.  Add to that, I spent my adult life working in a profession that no matter how open minded they claimed to be, didn't want any nonconformists.  I just admired tattoos and don't really consider them a possibility.  I had one coworker with tattoos and occasionally talked to him about getting one.

I was fortunate enough to retire early.  It took a month or so, but it dawned me that I no longer had any of those restraints and could do as I damn well pleased.  First I got my ears pierced and then my first tattoo.  It's been very liberating to kinda give the world the bird, lol.  I'm currently part way thru a half sleeve and spend most nights cruise the net dreaming of future work and artists.

  2. I'm far, far, far from an expert on the subject, but it doesn't look like any I've seen.

Maybe try a different approach, assume it's not a tattoo machine and try to determine what it is.  I know there's lots of antique tool collectors and probably nearly as many websites and forums, maybe try them.

If you find out what it is, I hope you let us know.  I love old stuff and learning about it.  Good luck!

  3. I would think that the artist that you are going to have do the tattoo would probably give you the best advice.  In the worst scenario, they put the stencil on, you check it out and don't like it, they put it someplace else.  You could do something similar if you could print the design and move it to the different places and check it out in the mirror.

    Nice design. Best of luck.

5 days straight about 40 hours give or take, this is as far as we got, about 1.5 - 2 sessions left. done by dan molloy. these 5 days on my back was easier than my 3 days b2b on my arm. kinda regretting not booking 6 or 7 sessions instead to get it done.

Holy shit, that is really cool. Can't imagine doing that many days in a row.

I have a lot of things in progress now and I'm finally starting to see some improvements. I've never been more proud of my work. Here's the most recent paintings I've finished, both in acrylic.

^ My first ever attempt at a dragon and second ever Japanese inspired piece. It's soooo much harder than it looks.

Excellent work, lovin' the green dragon.

Newest piece done last weekend! Rocky Mountains from up here in Canada, and each moon represents the three members of my family. Myself, my mom, and my dad. The phase was matched to what the moon was like each day we were born on.

Done by Jordyn at Classic Tattoo in Red Deer, AB, Canada

Nice clean looking work.  I really like using the phases of moon to represent your birthdays.  Very cool.

  7. We've slowly, but surely been having plumbing, namely drainage problems.  Today it finally became a problem that couldn't be ignored.  Fortunately we called an honest plumber that instead of coming out and charging a few hundred bucks to tell us he couldn't do anything, he listened to the details and told us we probably needed our septic tank emptied.

We called the local company that handles that type of thing and they had a truck here in about 30 minutes.  Within a little over an hour he had found the tank, dug thru the frozen ground and pumped 30 years of... well you know.  What we were afraid was going to be a costly expense was only $295... good shit!

@JAC1961 - hows the healing going - tattoo looks great so far - will be great to see progress as it goes...  2 hours sounds rapid!

@AtomicMagpyeSeems to be going well. First night there was some swelling and definitely sore, but the swelling is gone and only one spot near my arm pit that's still slightly tender to the touch.  I'm really happy with it, I think it will turn out great.
