Relax about the tattoo.
Yes, how well you take care of yourself and your body generally, especially with regard to sun exposure, is going to have an effect on how the tattoo looks over time, but a lot of it also comes down to how the tattoo was made to begin with. Not moisturizing every day isn't going to make your tattoo fall apart.

IMO that's not gonna happen,if anything being kept out of the sun a tattoo will remain brighter and better looking.
I have both ankles tattooed and wear socks for work and they still look great,I think the sun will do more damage to tattoos than any piece of clothing,and like was said,a tattoo can't be rubbed off,or damaged, or degraded by straps or clothing.

Female here who can absolutely NOT go without a bra :)
I have tattoos on both shoulder blades, one of them I've had for almost 20 years. After healing, there is nothing that a bra strap (or any other clothing for that matter) will do to your tattoos.

this - to me - is problematic thinking - no offense @Naiemh - I know we discussed this in another thread but to me I see so many threads lately with people obsessing about their 'imperfect' tattoos asking what to do about it - getting tattooed can be risky in a way - because you are giving someone else control of altering your appearance - thats why doing your research is important - in the age of Instagram - i'm not sure i see the excuse for failing to do this - not saying you cant just walk into a shop and getting tattooed by johnny random - you can - just factor this into your expectations and ultimately your perspective on said tattoo - anyway...

My suggestion is to start learning about art so that you're not going to be inclined to go along with suggestions that you ultimately aren't into. Tons of fly fishin'. I hate being stuck in an office for 50-60 hours a week, so getting out every weekend is pretty much mandatory at this point in order for me to not lose it on the daily.
I recently got out with Mr. Chuck Ragan from HWM a couple times. I felt like a total fan boy/nerd.
also joined a great gym and getting back in shape since I'm getting married this year.

couldnt disagree more - OP - your tattoo looks like a tattoo - it will 'settle in' more - lose its 'shine' so to speak - but you're good - now - maybe you have a misunderstanding of what tattoos are - they arent digital prints magically attached to your skin - they're tattoos - as for the vaseline - well aftercare is a whole other topic isnt it - imo - you're better off dry healing - but thats just me

-1. Is there anything I can do (or not do) before the appointment to help with the healing? As with any healing process, the healthier you are going in, the easier/faster you will heal.
1. Can I use white Dove bar soap to clean it? Yes
2. I don't want to use an after care product as they sound like a nightmare for a girl with lots of allergies. It there any normal first aid treatment I can use to help? You won't need any aftercare product or first aid treatment. It's just a tattoo. Reading your other threads about the tattoo you are getting, it looks like it's going to be pretty quick. Keep it clean and you'll be fine. There are lots of people out there trying to make a buck off of convincing those getting tattooed that they need some particular brand of snake-oil for things to heal well. This simply isn't true.
3. Which lotion (or at least what to look for in a lotion) and how often? The typical recommendation is something non-scented. Since you have a lot of allergies you probably already have a moisturizer that fits your needs. Use that. Use a small amount if you feel the tattoo start to dry out. Some people prefer nothing at all.
4. Does Bert's Bees make any products I can use? I don't know
5. How do I keep from having a nightmare situation when I wake up? (upper ankle piece) Do I wrap with sterile gauze and ointment or something? Not sure what this means? If I'm reading the situation correctly you are getting a relatively small, quick tattoo. I think you are making a mountain out of a mole-hill. You are going to undergo some minor skin-trauma. That's it. I understand that you want to do it right since it's your first, but don't overthink it...the most tried and true method of healing tattoos since forever is keep it clean and wait.

Man, I hear you on this one. I have the most abrupt gap between an El Monga lower-leg-total-domination and a Tim Lehi big-ass-tiger with full background...Monga comes up high and Lehi comes down low. Not sure what I'm gonna do to fill it up but it's driving me nuts! I was thinking a panther or monster etc head-on but with no bottom jaw.
