  1. I'm Shawn.

I'm originally from Florida, I lived there until my early 20s when I moved to Philly in 1999 with a girl. Relationship didn't work out, but I fell in love with the city of Brotherly Love and have been there ever since.

I used to be totally self sufficient; from farming my own vegetables and hunting my own meat to canning or preserving the results. I could sew my own clothes, et all. 12 years in Philly and I've lost a lot of that. Luckily my Dad moved up here two years ago and already has me helping out with his garden and is re-honing my archery skills. My eventual goal is to move to North Carolina and not wear shoes unless I have to. (and that's not a joke)

I'm a foodie, a toy collector (biding my time before I start a Pushead thread on LST) and a nerdy blogger.

    An update:

Im dating a really rad girl that I've had a crush on for three years. I told her that I always try to get the people I date to agree to move to North Carolina with me. She said "where in North Carolina?" instead of no.

    "Asheville" I replied.

"Oh. You mean where my parents live? Where I plan to move in a few years?"

Little cartoon hearts erupted over my head.

  2. I talked to Tony the day after they filmed the last episode. Of course he couldn't/didn't give any specifics about the show but he said they "might" have all been drinking a bit. After I watched the episode, I was like, fuck they are drunk.

I laughed at the 'as shop owners, we can make it work with any client" bullshit. Something makes me think any of the three of them (not lady face) would throw a customer that annoying/demanding out in no time flat.

  3. Apparently Seth has them building machine kits that they have to tattoo with. Separating the wheat from the chaff in one fell swoop. Take note tattooers, if you can not assemble a build it yourself kit from Seth which goes together practically on its own it is time to kill yourself.

    Hey Bo?

One of the "tattooers" has to have the client... err.. "Human Canvas" help her assemble the machine.

I need to stop watching this. Someone please help me stop watching this.

  4. 22nd August, Robert Ryan.

Outlines, back of my left thigh. Might do the dreaded buttcheek too, if it works into the design.

Last time (28th may, last year) I went out for outlines and 7.5hrs later walked out happy, swollen and with a finished tattoo, but I hope this time it's just fun times with Bink, talkin' Pushead with Mike and a little tattooin'.

  5. I had never heard the term before tattooers used it in regards to me. That's why I don't find it offensive.

    True enough.

I hate when people say "but tattoo artists HATE it!!" about something.

Here's something: Some tattooers are douchebags. Them being a tattooer, even a GOOD tattooer, doesn't make them right or profound. It makes them another asshole with an opinion and there's nothing special or unique about having one of those.

If you think you're a collector, you probably are. It's a way to describe what you do- collect tattoos from people you dig. I collect toys. I collect dvds. I have a lot of passion when it comes to my collections; I think about which swatches to buy, know when some obscure film is going to be released on dvd, read articles about toy production.

I guess if you looked at it like that, I collect tattoos too. I find myself interested in the whole culture of it, not just "gettin' a new tat'.

    Verdict:

It's not bad to be called a collector/call yourself a collector.

It's not bad to not WANT to be called a collector/call yourself a collector.

  6. when I was a kid Dave would come through philly with Mike Wilson all the time. I got to go to Luckys about 10 or 12 years ago in San Diego. Real deal tattooing in a shop full of nothing but hand painted flash. Very cool!

Most of the Gibson stories I heard came from Mike.

When I was in Vegas for the APP Conference, my old friend Ron Garza and I decided to get matching 'bro-tats' courtesy of his wife Nakota who tattoos out of Outer Limits. We've known each other since 1995 and have an amazing surreal friendship. Earlier this year one of our good friends (who goes back to 95 with us as well) killed himself, so we decided on Skulls in Party Hats. Little two minute dealies to commemorate our friendship.

The "party tats" label was tongue in cheek.

  8. Hey Friends!

I'm going to be heading out to San Diego for SDCC/Pushead on 19th July 2013; other than 21st July (the Pushead event) I have zero plans, (well. Maybe a Donkey Show if I can make it into TJ. That seems legit) so if you're a Sparrower in SD... what's up!

Monday 22nd July I'll be heading up to the Bay area where I'll be a super goober tourist until Thursday morning. So... if you're a Sparrower in SF... what's up!

Would love to grab dinner with folks!
