I'm getting tattooed by Robert Ryan on Monday and Deno on Tuesday.
Both are in hellish (inner thigh and armpit) spots that I expect to leave me crying like a wee baby. This whole painting myself into a corner thing was dumb. I should have started with the shit spots and ended up 36 years old and making appointments for my forearms.

Armbands that connect are bad luck.
Variation: Armbands that connect can cut off the circulation and your arm will fall off.
Face/hand/neck tattoos are illegal.
I always feel bad posting right after Stewart. He goes into so much detail that it makes my two sentence posts seem lazy. Perhaps by mentioning this fact it will add a little bit of 'meat' to my post and make it seem like I have more than a ten word vocabulary.

That's the insidious nature of the hipster, Mr. Frog... he comes in like a swarm of locusts, and ruins everything you love.

First time I've heard this, but earlier today some peckerwood with shitty squidwork on his arms comes up to me and asks "who you wearin, bro?"
I've never heard that before. He mentioned Gil Montie twice.
He seemed less than impressed with my choices in artists, since none of them were Gil Montie.
This is why I hate going out in shortsleeves.

Painkillers make it worse, but that's no reason not to use drugs.
Here's my recipe:
before the tattoo starts, I pop a muscle relaxer. You're going to be getting your ribs worked on and that's going to hurt. A lot. Evolution isn't a dummy, and we've evolved to protect our vital organs. The ribs protect your lungs. Your lungs are important. Therefor, your body has a nice network of nerve endings all around the area to alert you that you're getting into dangerous territory. Which means that you're going to be hating life.
As such, you'll tense up. Probably a lot. You'll be sore from the tattooing the next day, sure... but you're also going to be sore from tensing yourself up. Because ribs hurt.
That muscle relaxer (metaxalone for the win) will make you tense up less and the next day, you'll feel better for it.
The next step is to take an anti-histamine. Tattooing is basically a large scale scratch test. If you take a nondrowsy anti-histamine, you'll swell less. The artist won't be bogged down with puffy, swollen skin.
The last step for me is a xanax. Because I hate getting tattooed and the xanax just makes me happy.
Caveats:
I'm not prescribing any medicinal treatment since I'm not a doctor. Don't use drugs unless you know their side effects.
Respect: Ask your tattooer if he/she minds you taking pills. Some do. You don't want to be the loopy customer they hate dealing with.

I just started watching Best Ink.
Overall I like it better than the "Adventures of Ladyface and Toothpick" but it's still bad tattoos getting good press.
Capobianco yelling at people is an interesting touch though.

I finally bought an 8mm player. It hasn't arrived yet and I'm sure there will be problems, but the hope is that by middle of next week I can start capturing footage from tons of 8mm cassettes that I have. Most of the stuff isn't really tattoo related, but Im 100% sure that I have the 1995 Amsterdam tattoo convention video I shot, which includes 22 tattooers working on one (very blue) client. Seeing Alex Binnie, Horiyoshi 3 and Crazy Ace tattoo the same person at the same time...

That is, yes. The Jim Rose was playing in Holland during the convention.
