Looks good now, but honestly I'd be worried that with that style and size it may be hard to read in 10 years.

My first session with Theo was great! We got the basic outline done of a full mermaid that runs down my left leg from my hip to my knee. We'll finish it up somewhere, sometime this year (maybe at Pagoda). I'll post a photo when I'm all healed up. Spider Murphys is a magical place.

Got a little one yesterday after a few months' tattoo break (well not counting a smallish walk-in-day thingy from December) I'm totally hyped about! Going back to the insanely talented and super nice Mr. Romeo next month for some more work on that arm, AND getting something else done by one of the other guys at the studio on the other one at the same time. Should be quite interesting

What, like shading between all the tattoos? That would look strange to me. Just fill the smaller spaces with smaller tattoos and little stars and stuff. It's been done before. You're not the first to have several unrelated tattoos or even a whole sleeve of them. :-)

My first was 14 years ago when I was 19. It was one of those where I walked into the shop and picked an existing design. It's a snake around a half moon! How ridiculous. It's not very well done (at this stage some people think it's a monkey..) but I swear I can't get rid of it. As the first I do feel really attached to it! I've covered up another tattoo but I think I'll never cover up this one. It's on my belly so it's not visible all the time which helps.

My first tattoo was a trail of seven butterflies going from the front of my right hip up and around my side. I was 19 and at the time the first two sat in my undies line and the last one closer toward my back. 4 kids and 12 years on, they sit very differently ? poor things have been through a fair bit! In the past I wanted to either rework them or add to them, but now I'm too sentimental and like them all stretched and sad looking ?

IMO the best traditional filler is more tattoos. Biker dust is overdone, and wind/waves aren't in the traditional vocabulary like Japanese style.
Matches, snakes, bugs, lady legs, daggers - make them small and cram them in there.

I have one that the green was lined in a darker green and it has held up. I have had older black-lined tattoos spread out over time. Ones that were close together almost touched after 20 years. I agree that the sun is a tattoo's worst enemy. I know one artist, she has some nice water color work on her, no outline but she is almost an albino compared to me and never sets foot in the sun. Her work still looks perfect years later.

yep. it's not worth the free touch-up. just pay a better artist to fix it. they also might be able to give some suggestions on how to make it look better.

They didn't do a simple outline right the first time, but you're going to give them another chance? Sorry, I just don't understand why people do this. Past actions are the best predictors of future actions.

How long have you had that? It looks fresh, with the skin still angry. Let it heal. B&G softens up quite a bit. Yes, of course you can speak to your artist about your concerns, it is your arm. She should not get angry, and should explain to you what her plans are and show you a fully healed example of what she's doing to you.

Kurgana reacted to Baboom in Tegaderm/Saniderm/Tatuderm healing process
I'm currently visiting SF and while here I got tattooed by Kahlil. Due to the placement (my thigh) we decided to put some saniderm on it so it wouldn't imped on my walking around the city. I had used tegaderm during test runs but never on a fresh tattoo.
After a day of walking the saniderm peeled on all corners pretty bad. The next day we continued walking around without an issue. That night I went to take a shower; I did my best not to get it wet but in the end the saniderm filled with water. I had no choice but to remove it.
once out of the shower I was faced with a choice to either leave it off and have my tattoo rub against my jeans for 6-8 miles a day for the next three days or apply the tegaderm I brought.
I opted to apply my tegaderm and boy am I happy I did. I had read mixed reviews on reapplying adhesive to your tattoo but I felt like I was left with little option. I'm on our final day here in SF and the tegaderms held up like a dream. There has been zero iritation and the tattoo appears to be coming along like a dream. Tegaderm in my opinion is leaps and bounds better than saniderm. It's thinner with better adhesive and more stretch.
I'll keep everyone up to date once I take it off. As of now I stand behind reapplying adhesive if the situation calls for it.

Just a quick follow-up, in the end I had no swelling at all and I just took off the tegaderm since the tattoo was feeling great and I wanted to be able to see it again. Seems like it's ready to peel, no scabbing and no tenderness whatsoever. This has been my easiest heal ever (including two tiny ones with just really thin linework). Definitely not what I expected, but I don't mind lol.
Sorry for the crap pic, and the 'derm wrinkles! Tattoo is just under three days old.

My little birthday present from me ;). "Borrowed" the pic from the artist's Facebook since I 'dermed it as soon as I got home and didn't think to photograph it first. Hand poked (by a licenced tattoo artist at a professional studio). I found the technique super relaxing & interesting, and this will probably not be my last although I'm craving some colour next.

Hi and welcome,do you mean you regret not having the whole tattoo done in white ? because if you had it would look like total crap by now, personally I would stay away from white other than used for highlights.
anyway,IMO any good artist could easily enhance and renew that tattoo by adding some to what's already there,re-hit the black a little, maybe add some small color  flowers and a little bit of feminine vines.
my wife has an ankle tattoo that didn't look just right and we went to a better artist and she added some cool little things to it and retouched the color and it looks great now.

Hi there. The skin in that area is quite thin and delicate, and that tattoo is in there.
There isn't really much to be done unfortunately. You could try to find a skilled artist to re-outline it in white, but that will not likely accomplish much for you. A shadow in white will just make the whole thing seem bigger still.
I recommend you just accept the tattoo as a reminder for where you were in life at the moment you got it, and move on to the next one.
