Kurgana reacted to Gingerninja in Tattoos inspired by music?
Several of mine are either music related or have a second layer band meaning. Think face to face and Dropkick in particular...

Yes. There is a thread about it somewhere. I have several: Johnny Cash (2), John Lennon (2), Amy Winehouse. I don't have images of the two John Lennon ones to hand.

Kurgana reacted to thyes in Tattoos inspired by music?
I'm curious to see if there are others in here who have gotten tattoos dedicated to their favourite bands, singers, artists or just inspired by music in general?
I love music, especially metal and rock. So my second tattoo was heavily inspired by the band Tool and their.. wierd artwork. It's been 7 years since I got this tattoo, but I still feel like it needs something more added to it. Just haven't gotten to it yet, I guess.
The pic is from the day I got it if I recall correct. Didn't have a healed pic and couldn't be arsed to take one now, so I snagged this from my Facebook. It's not as crisp ofcourse, but it's still in pretty decent shape (thank god for SPF 50).
Show me yours, there must be some in here :)

Kurgana reacted to Hel7 in Tattoos inspired by music?
Yeah, I've got many of them.. around 10 are directly inspired by music.. some of them though are only "indirectly" linked to music, like, I took the inspiration from Celtic folk bands, from musicians and so on but it was only a loose inspiration..
I've got one tattoo on my right chest (like, under the armpit, I never studied English so I lack the lexicon ) which is a French phrase took from a song called Crier Tout Bas by Coeur de Pirate, but I don't have a picture of it.. I've also a simple tattoo from The Offspring but ok, no pictures right now, maybe in the next weeks, I have to take out the camera ahahah!!
Let me see if I manage to find some pictures ahah I'm not so technological
This one (very old photo, my arm was almost entirely white ahahah!!) is more like an artist's interpretation of one of my favourite Evanescence (pre-Fallen) song, Imaginary, I gave him some hints and he based his work on Evanescence fonts and made this masterpiece by adding other things like the two curves under :) Btw, it's not in the lyrics, it's only the title of the track and it has many meanings to me. Amy Lee has never written a song containing that word as far as I know!
This other one on my back is also very old, it's taken from a song called Mental Central Dialog by Lifelover and it's in Swedish as the original. I let the tattoo artist (a girl 29yo like me, I think 24-25 at the time, the other guy above was born in the '60s instead XD) choose a font and wanted it completely black.
This is one of my very very first tattoos.. it's made with many adaptations with the Riot! font from Paramore, although the track is taken from their next album and it's called Anklebiters
Oh, and this one, I was still underage at the time, it's very very very very old XD the picture is a little bit distorted but I can't find another one.. anyways it's a Sami (Lapland) graffito (you use this Italian word too right? XD), I took it from Shaman/Korpiklaani (Finnish folk metal band) logo something like 15 years ago I think.. the photo sucks but it's still great with a rock-like design (the original is a bit different, I took inspiration both from the band and from the original Laplanders graffiti) :)

Brand new shoulderblade piece, 4 days old. Inspired by the cedar waxwing, my favorite bird, and my grandma's pansies (she would have been 120 years old on Friday!) Tattoo by Darcy Nutt at the Richmond convention, blending in beautifully with her previous work the past two years on my SA cichlid/floral half-sleeve. I'm definitely one of Darcy's "nuts"
P.S. All of Darcy's tattoos are free hand

Long time no see ?
Got a little one yesterday after a few months' tattoo break (well not counting a smallish walk-in-day thingy from December) I'm totally hyped about! Going back to the insanely talented and super nice Mr. Romeo next month for some more work on that arm, AND getting something else done by one of the other guys at the studio on the other one at the same time. Should be quite interesting

Kurgana got a reaction from Devious6 in Afried to do my first tattoo
I totally agree with this. I got my first two at 16&18, and thankfully I was chronically broke at the time so they are very small! I started over at 30+ and I'm really happy I didn't cover myself with tons of spur-of-the-moment tattoos back then. What I am doing now has been planned over many years, I can afford to get great tattoos now, and I have the self-confidence to go for stuff I know I will love long term.

No meds. It's supposed to hurt. It's a goddamn tattoo.

Kurgana reacted to Thekev in Afried to do my first tattoo
Wish I would have thought about that when I was 18 and got my first couple. Luckily they were relatively small and now that I'm in my late 30's I've been able to get quality pieces and plan for coverups that I can be proud of.

I got my first one at 25 and covered it up at age 40. So yeah. Wait if you're not sure.

I didn't get my first tattoo until I was 34. Smartest thing I could have ever done.

Kurgana reacted to Forty6and2 in Half Sleeve Done!
Just finished up my half sleeve last week. Took 3 sessions, about 12-15 hours total. What do you think? And yes, I chose black and gray for a specific reason, which is why there is no color. :)

Handson makes a great point...
Impulsiveness has brought you to this crossroads. The important thing now is to not allow it to decide which path you will take a second time.
I can feel your angst and I empathize ... everything in you is pushing to make it gone, now ... but for your own sake, please, take your time with deciding what you will do next.

Kurgana reacted to marfil98 in Absolutely hate my 1 month old tattoo
Trust me, I've been there. Everything you just said I felt when I got my first couple of tattoos. I also considered laser which, as far as I know, does work, though results vary. The best advice I got on here was "get more tattoos". You'd be amazed at how soon you stop worrying when you have a few more. I strongly recommend keeping it, at least until it heals completely. I really think it looks good, and it has genuine significance to you. Remember, it could always be a whole lot worse.

Kurgana reacted to Howie in New Tattoo Scabbing - Looking for Advice
Seems quite normal to me!
Maybe apply a bit less ointment (looks shiny - a thick layer stops oxygen from getting to it and obstructs the healing process) and pat dry lightly so the scabs don't stick to the paper towel.
Most important rule of all - do not tease or pull the scabs!

Kurgana reacted to Baboom in Latest tattoo lowdown.....
I too was in SF but missed @gingerninja but failed to link up. I did however I did stop in to see Kahlil at tattoo city. First and foremost what a great dude and great experience. The shop has so much energy. Kahlil's booth has seen some great tattooers adding to the mojo. I left with this bad larry.
On another note I can say that I stand behind tegaderm as a healing method. Ill go into it more in the tegaderm thread.
