  1. I've got a bad feeling. This is 2 weeks post. The fish isn't done yet. The halo is around nearly the entire fish, even the nose. It looked just the same now as it did right after the session. I was a little bruised in that area but it was a normal looking bruise that has faded - this is on the side of my back extending under my arm. This session hurt like hell and I was a little fidgey. The rest of the stuff on my back looks great - this looks like a different person did these two fish It's still scabbing so don't judge the chunky-looking parts. I took Advil this time, and never had before. Is this a big blow-out?

I sent a pic to the tattooer and he hasn't gotten back. I have a session on Friday and I'm considering cancelling it. If it's a tenacious bruise, it needs to heal. If it's not, maybe I need a new artist. I read online, and I am the stereotype of pale skin, older, thin skin.

did the tattoo look like this immediately after the session? is he planning on background?

  2. Thanks y'all! It was the most positive experience I've had getting tattooed. Yutaro is a real gentleman and very funny, when you know a good soul you just feel comfortable. Also had the joy of meeting Stewart and Valerie who came by a bunch to check the progress, both I can say the same about as Yutaro, just really good souls. A real positive start on a collection of skull and sword pieces :)

  3. Both hurt equally, theres a mental aspect with that. Rotaries and coils both vary in quality and design. rotaries typically are quieter than coils. And like any tool , its the person using it that makes the difference in how the product comes out. for some artists, they swear by it and some don't. Some artists like to mix coil and rotary into their tattoos for lining and shading or vice versa

  4. I don't think it's bad. i think the "hate" is that it's the typical tattoo for anybody that's just looking to get something and have it be acceptable to everyone that looks at it. Not saying that was your thought process in getting it (a "safe" tattoo) but if that's the case then this site is here to bring such great possibilities and artists to you.

Most people here will agree that "saint michael" is an overplayed design and is done too often by amateur artists/down right bad artists

  5. I was hoping to book with Chris Garver but unfortunately due to his rate I decided to decline. But coincidentally I just got lucky and booked an appointment with Russ Abbott who is doing a short guest spot near me in Mass this summer. He's doing a clipper ship for me, I love his work.

Thats sounds awesome, post some pics man!

  6. I am a ball of nerves right now. I am not sure what I want tattooed and I dont want to have a regret, but I am going in at 2:30 today to get my birthday tattoo. I have like 5 or 6 different ideas and I thought I had chosen one, but then I realized I chose it because of what other people thought. So now I am stuck.

You should just be honest with the artist and collaborate with him on ideas

  7. Maybe some of you can give me some pointers on getting some ink on my man then. hehe

Not that I mind at all. If anything it's really fun when people meet him expecting some punk rocker that's covered, and they get a normal balanced individual.

It would just be a bonus. :)

Talk to him about some ideas you think he'd be stoked about, planting the "tattoo seed". Any favorite moments in both of your lives or his that stand out that can be translatable. Not sure otherwise, it's difficult to get somebody who's against it to turn. If he wants to though, just immerse him in it.

  8. a Little off topic but it concerns a new piece i started. forgive me if im stepping on the guidelines:

anybody here ever fly from NY to LA? started a piece on my arm and the guy travels, but he's situated there and i'd like to fly out to finish if i can swing it.

  9. I don't think you're entirely right. You don't know me yet you judge me about rushing into a tattoo because I want to be part of the community. I don't know where you are pulling that from. There are other things to factor in that you have conveniently left out due to your own perspective. It's cool you saved up for a year to get a couple roses from an artist you think is the best. I personally plan big pieces, the last tattoo I got was a half sleeve that took 13 hours, two and a half years ago. Since then I have also been saving. I fully intend to to travel to get work from artists I like, like later on in the year when I travel to the uk, so I think it's unfair of you to make these assumptions about me. Also if you think every tattoo on your body is completely unique and the tattoo artists that did them never referenced another tattooer in his or her career, I think you must be kidding yourself just a bit. Convenience also seems to factor into your decision making since you 'waited' for Scott Sylvia to come to your town. There really is no need to be so high and mighty. I think I shall go back to just lurking from now on. So long folks.

Dont leave! i think you're tattoo is fucking sick dude and i honestly don't see how it's a shige rip off. so congratulations to you!
