Here's a little one I got yesterday from Kurt Melancon at a fun Sailor Jerry birthday event at Leviticus in Minneapolis. Obviously not on the same scope as some of these but it's a quality tattoo and fun to share.

Mostly I watch Timberwolves basketball- which is a horror story in it's own right.
Seasons two and three of AHS were the best in my opinion. I also have been watching a lot of Bob's Burgers lately because it's my six year old daughters favorite show for some reason and I could watch Arrested Development on a continuous loop.

Welcome and have fun. I will be interested to hear if anyone has any thoughts on your 50 year old skin but my uneducated thought/hope is that it won't be a problem.
My wife and I had a really nice experience at Great Lakes Tattoo and Chicago is always a good time. There is no doubt you can get a great tattoo at Aloha Monkey in Minnesota. I also love Leviticus Tattoo in Minneapolis which has multiple quality artists and a huge indoor Koi pond which is pretty cool.
Go to wherever you believe you will have the most fun and get the tattoo you want. Have a great experience and then take advantage of all the wonderful food and drink options near these shops- hopefully you can at least get your wife on board for that part.

One of the more pleasant surprises was how gentle Josh Arment is. I think I finally know what you all mean when you say someone's got a light hand...before I'd just assumed everyone on here was crazy.

This is excellent. My wife got a tattoo from Doug Hardy when he did a guest spot at Aloha Monkey a few years ago. She had a good experience at the shop and obviously they have some great artists.

BUMP! I know plenty of you have been following and supporting on the ol' Instagram (the only social media I'm equipped to use.. poorly) but just wanted to post more updates here! We've got 70 -- SEVENTY -- participating artists. Including Timothy Hoyer, Michael Aul, Antonio Roque, Bailey Robinson, Jerry Ware, Marina Inoue.... Gonna be a good one! The talented Nash Hogan is painting a flyer that'll be done soon and the talented Mr. Spider Man himself, Matt Arriola, just posted a rough of a t-shirt design he'll be doing for the show. there is a lot of energy being transferred in tattooing, which plenty of us who have been tattooed in different settings can attest. tattooers can get energy from the rest of the shop, convention, music, overall environment, definitely from the client and it transfers in all directions. good artists know how to get into the zen motions of tattooing and put on quality work no matter the situation.
however, their emotional state obviously impacts their energy, which can dictate the energy of the entire session, if no other forces alter it. a great part of tattooing is that, as the client, you can be the positive force to alter the energy! a shitty part is, you can also be the negative force, knowingly or unknowingly! hahahhahaa. shitty clients can definitely put a tattooer in a bummer mood if they let it. tattooing is a collaboration and there's definitely chemistry to it. although a good artist might not let the work suffer from bad energy, the experience could definitely suffer... and the experience is a huge part of tattooing. it stays with you as much as the art! I think the best tattooers understand that and strive to ensure that the client has a good experience to go along with their highest quality of work.

Whoa, with all the awesome tattoos posted in the Lowdown thread recently I'm surprised no one's posted here yet. I'll kick it off! Here's my thigh by Seth Wood, started at Temple and finished at Saved.

Good point about the State Fair.
The MN State Fair is almost like a bad tattoo contest- although there are plenty of very good ones as well and all are fun to see. I actually had an elderly lady come up to me once and say that mine was the best tattoo she had seen all day. She was talking about the Koi flower pot with Thai peppers that is my avatar pic.
