Well, I guess I'll throw my "cat" in the ring (groannnn haha).
I'm very happy with how this turned out. The pics are of the fresh tattoo. It has healed beautifully. Done a month ago by Franz Stefanik at the Okey Doke in Toronto, ON.
I'll toss in the before and after pics too as it was a cover up of a sad old bird. 32 years old to be exact. And, I love the line work !

@Charles.M, what is your deal? This isn't your website. Why are you doing surveys? I just can't figure out what the point of about 95% of your posts are. So damn weird.

There seem to be a lot of weird posts from the o.p. of late, many of them plugging his business interest. I have called him out before and I guess I'm doing so again.

Seems weird for someone who isn't a moderator to ask us to take a survey.

Feeling pretty tattoo-flu-y, but I have a steak on the way, and then it's time to drink every water and sleep every sleep. So happy that we finished the areas that were the most painful for me during lining, though.

    Couldn't be happier.

I'm suprised that the contest is coming back at this point as it seems like activity is down quite a bit and the thread activity that is attended to has some real dumbass content - anyway - i'd say no on a theme like fillers - too hard to decide what filler is - to me filler is when really heavily tattooed folks get small tattoos to 'fill' the gaps - how many heavily tattooed people are still on this board - just my two cents

    To each his/her own.
I am a big advocate of large pieces. It is what appeals to me. But who am I to judge others? Certainly some people get tattoos like this because they are so worried about what people will think that they get something microscopic that will never show. And as others have said, maybe these people shouldn't be getting tattoos.
But some people may make an deliberate aesthetic decision to get something tiny.
At the risk of being flamed here, sometimes a tiny tattoo placed dramatically can be appealing. Dramatic contrast between figure and ground. Certainly fading and the inevitable "fuzzing out" of the image will affect it in the long run, so it is a challenge to select an image or shape that is simple enough to read for a long time.

I know exactly how to feel ! there is no confusion at all ! it's very clear to me ! it's a fucked up thing to do on ANY living animal,
we can easily and humanely chip pets for ID purposes,
any type of tattooing animals should be illegal.
ART ? LOL far from it. FUCK the whole idea and FUCK the people that are doing that !

No doubt in my mind - it's wrong, IMHO. It's not art, it's insensitive brutalizing of an animal that has no choice and for no meaningful propose.

Not everyone wants large tattoos and I don't think that's such a bad thing. I don't want to be covered in tattoos. But I do want a few pieces here and there. At the end of the day, all the people getting tiny tattoos are supporting the industry and we should be thankful for that.

It's not so much hipster as a combination of what are often regarded as common/cliched "female" tattoo ideas.  Common/cliched  "male" tattoo ideas are usually treated more kindly.

Finished my upper arm this weekend at the Richmond convention with the (holdout) inner bicep area. Thanks, @darcynutt! She did the outer/shoulder portion of it last year at the convention, and I booked her Saturday to go ahead and finish all the way around. She made it look like it was all done at the same time, and I'm thrilled. She once again used my own aquarium fish in the design.

Not intending to be confrontational but,
I don't care about having "earned" my tattoos, the easier the experience and less trauma caused by the end of the tattoo the better for me.  If I can get my tattoos bright & bold with a quarter of the pain and have them heal twice as fast then I'm going to take that.  I get the "you earned it" thing I'm just not huge on it; I'm happier to earn my tattoo by having the money, time, and commitment instead of the pain threshold, adrenaline, and healing factor.
This all being said I'm still likely to get a Chad tattoo, just not as quickly, because his work and lifestyle both bring to mind the folk art feel that tattooing has to me.

Picked this one up from Marc Nava at the London tattoo convention yesterday. Such a nice guy and i had a great time being tattooed by him. Really wish i was at the convention today/tomorrow as there seemed to be a LOT of artists taking walk ups that had time (Frankie Carracioli, for example, was in the booth with Marc and didn't do a single tattoo on Friday, at least not by the time i left around 8pm).
Bumped in to a few LSTers too, wish i knew their names here but it was a pleasure seeing you all, even managed to stumble across my main man @Iwar when i was literally on my way out of the convention.
