Rob I 500 Posted March 31, 2013 Is it ok to start applying sunblock 5 weeks after getting a tattoo? I've read that it shouldn't be used on a fresh tattoo and want to make sure I'm not going to do any damage after 5 weeks has passed. Thanks in advance- Rob
Duffa 29 Posted March 31, 2013 I'm pretty sure your good to go
Tracy Trash 0 Posted March 31, 2013 Why aren't you supposed to put it on a new tattoo? I thought it is a good way to protect a new tattoo..
Rob I 500 Posted March 31, 2013 I'm told it can pull out ink. At 5 weeks, mine is obviously all peeled. Second peel done as well. Some areas still look a bit dusty as you can tell there's new skin under old ready to come out, which is why I want to make sure I'm not going to do any damage by putting sunblock on now. Been over 5 weeks since its been done. Thanks
slayer9019 56 Posted March 31, 2013 At 5 weeks you should be fine. 1 JAllen reacted to this

JeffK 8 Posted March 31, 2013 By fresh I'm sure whoever said that meant still healing/open wound/peeling stage. 1 JAllen reacted to this

tonyced26 0 Posted April 18, 2013 Yeah, after 5 weeks you're definitely okay there
tattooedgirl 0 Posted April 30, 2013 I would think that you were good to go on this. I did not have to apply sunscreen on mine right away. If the tat is healed over, then I would think that you would be fine.
Colored Guy 350 Posted May 24, 2013 Use a good name-brand of sun block and you'll be fine. I use Neutrogena SPF 45 and it works really well. Target has them in a 2-pack for around $11 which is pretty good. Rob 2 Rob I and reverend1 reacted to this
lynellej1 0 Posted June 5, 2013 Good to know guys! I'm extremely fair and I feel like I put sunscreen companies in business! I'm going monday to finish up a tattoo and I would have been upset if I forgot to ask and ruined my new piece of art
Slester 3 Posted June 5, 2013 How early would it be considered okay to use sunblock on a new tattoo? Of course one of the milder ones without perfume and other nasty stuff.
cltattooing 764 Posted June 9, 2013 After the second peel should be fine. When all of the skin is smooth, has no flakes or dry patches, and isn't waxy anymore. When in doubt, keep it covered.
thornton8000 2 Posted August 6, 2013 From what my artist told me is 5 weeks and u are good to go before it can cause issues with pulling the color out but if your at the 5 week stage you are ok
mnpedro75 0 Posted January 12, 2014 This might go without saying but the artist I work with always stresses cover up your fresh tattoos, with just clothing, for that first 5 weeks.
temporarytattoo 0 Posted February 3, 2014 I would recommend you to use an good brand of sunblock and which products suits you apply that one that would be more effective and good.
